Hi Dale; I gave it a go with success. And ran it several times on objects that I was getting confounded before. Using Append seems to be the more simple and elegant solution. Real simple in my case as the field names are the same in both source and targets. I still remain puzzled why the ribbon based Attributes copy and paste technique would work fine initially and then stop working with all procedures remaining the same. Oh, well, one of those quirks that Arc Pro can be known for. Thanks much! I'll mark it as solved and hope it stays that way!

So I explored and attempted the "Copy Features" option. It is so close, but doesn't allow you to copy to an existing Feature Layer's Attribute Table. It apparently wants to create a new table and copy the selection into that new table. Dave

An update. Every time I try this technique, even with polylines shorter than the initial one that did work, I can get none of them to work now. It comes up with the same problem of not copying the values for the shape_length, but successfully copying the polyline value in the Name field. So, why would this technique work the first time and then quit working at all subsequent attempts?

Hi Dale; After I posted the above reply, I was searching around for similar posts and found this possible solution: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-questions/copy-a-row-in-a-gdb-table-to-same-gdb-table/m-p/1258642#M65579 It worked! But, on a second try with another and longer polyline object, when pasting attributes, it would only paste the Name Field and failed to paste the Shape_Length Field. Besides Object_ID, these are the only two fields. So is there a limit to how long, i.e., how many vertices the polyline may contain, to this capability? Dave

Hi Dale; Thanks for the reply and the suggestions. In the Copy Rows menu that you showed above, I can specify the source feature class and the selected row in the first box called Input Rows. However, in the second box all I can find to be able to pick and specify is an existing Table in the file geodatabase. That Table is not included in the working project I am trying to perform this function in. Plus, that doesn't allow me to copy that selected feature object (polyline) into an existing attribute table for objects in a layer in the working map and project I am in. In looking at and experimenting with the Append Tool, I learned about the Transfer Attributes and Field Mapping/Editor Settings menu boxes with the Fields tab. When specifying the Target and the Source boxes (with the desired row selected) and clicking OK and running the Transfer Attributes tool.......nothing happens. In this example the attribute field names are identical. I am new to Pro 3.2, but have operated in Pro 2.9.5 for quite awhile. Even with that though, I have learned some new things in Pro - which of course never ends. That is a good thing and part of the fun. But I am not yet getting to where I need to be with copying a polyline from one attribute table to another within the same project. Dave

Hello Community; I have asked this before with no response. I understand that it is possible to copy a row from one attribute table to another. However, when using the Copy command at the top of the table and with the desired row highlighted, nothing is available. It say it copied it to the clipboard. OK, now what? I find a page talking about copying rows where the summary says "Copies the rows of a table to a different table". Here is the link: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/data-management/copy-rows.htm Is this saying that only all rows can be copied? I want to copy just one row to another attribute table for a feature class. To be able to do this would save a bunch of time instead of manually creating the feature all over again. I upgraded to and am currently using Pro 3.2 with the latest patch applied. Help! Dave

Hello Community; After a month of tinkering on and off with this issue, I still haven't found a solution. Import symbology is supposed to work, but just doesn't and others have said it appears I have done everything right and that my example is not all too complicated. Any further thoughts on this vexing issue? Thanks; Dave

Hi Ronald; A new day and new energy. So what I did was test your recommended method on a second lake I was in the middle of creating and hadn't made the islands yet. Created a new, different feature layer called islands and drew the islands. (There are significantly less islands in Lake Mohave than there is in Lake Mead). This worked nicely. And then just turn off islands. I can now see that when the large lake outline and the island outlines were on the same layer, there was actually two island outline polygons. Not sure why changing the line width didn't work on all of them, but something is off there. And working with these input/output features on separate layers eliminates that. I will consider this as a solution. It is a nice fix and further reinforces a general lesson I have learned that it usually pays to create in catalog numerous different feature layers for different topics. It may seem redundant and cantankerous at times, but it certainly provides/retains control over the features. So now it leaves me with a separate question I have had for awhile. Is there a way to copy a feature from a row in an attribute table to another layer attribute table? Without creating/sharing to yet another file in a folder? Thanks! Dave

Thanks Ronald; My method so far has been to create the larger polygon of a body of water (Lake Mead) and then draw polygons for the various islands that are out there. Each feature is on the same layer to make the input and target selections work. And then with all editable selections box turned off, Divide/Clip the interior island polygon out of the interior of the larger lake polygon. This creates an interior island polygon that is part of the larger lake polygon feature and the row it is on. Then delete the original island polygon feature that is on a separate row in the attribute table. This works nicely and the island topo pops through the hole. But I have tried to reduce the width of the line outline for the larger polygon and it changes the large outline polygon line width but not the contained smaller island polygon line width. That is my current problem. And, yep, am burned out, gotta sleep on it. Dave

Hello Community; I have been using the Divide/Clip under modify option to create interior polygon holes within a larger polygon. Using the input and output selections to cut a hole, an outline polygon is created within that larger feature as part of that feature. The input interior feature has to be deleted from the rows of features within the layer in question in order to "see through" the cut hole. But when adjusting the width properties of the outline polygon to the large feature the interior polygon hole line does not respond. Only the original large feature outline responds to changes. Any trick around this? I am using Pro 2.9.5 in W 10. Thanks, Dave

Hi Linda; The issue remains a puzzle. I redid everything including the export of the source layer. The attached screen capture shows the setup of the Import Symbology menu. On the left hand side in the contents pane, nothing changes. I am trying to get the target layer on one map take on the same linetype and size settings as the source layer from another map in the same project. And the symbology just doesn't change to that of the source. ?????? Dave

Hi Linda; Thanks for the reply. I just can't find how to make this work. The input layer is the desired exported .lyrx file. The Symbology layer is the target layer that I wish to have adopt the same symbology as the input file. Type is Value Field as that is the only choice that makes any sense out of the selections. Source Field and Target Field are the same Name in both layers. Ranges by data is set to Maintain Ranges. But I have not set any ranges on these layers. And nothing changes. The Run does complete successfully going by the resultant message. View details provides little information except how long it took. One second. Is there something required when exporting layer as shared? Puzzled. Dave

Hi Linda; I found this solution to the same question I had. However, after specifying the FROM and TO layers successfully (after exporting FROM to a lyrx file), nothing happened. Nothing changed. Are there additional settings necessary? Dave
