@pfoppe Hi, thanks for sharing this out. Just for clarification, was the Config-Store/Directories located on a DFS share? wondering if that was the contributing factor here since we don't recommend using DFS file share as mentioned in our documentation: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/latest/deploy/windows/choosing-a-nas-device.htm

Looks like you are running into a known defect: BUG-000131530: Unable to install patches or list installed patches for Portal for ArcGIS and/or ArcGIS Data Store using the patchnotification utility on a Linux deployment. (fixed at 10.8.1).

@Rémy Gourrat, Great question here. Those folders appears to be an artifact of the previous version prior to your ArcGIS Datastore upgrade. They might still play a role here, not 100% sure. So I would recommend working with esri support on this just to be sure. If it comes out that those folder are not needed, then I would recommend creating an Enhancement request for the ArcGIS Datastore software to auto delete those folders upon upgrade?. So you wont run into any disc space related issue. In fact, this enhancement was just introduced in version 10.8: ENH-000129247-Please provide clearer documentation on the disk space requirements when upgrading ArcGIS Data Store.

Great thanks for the follow up and letting us know. Again, these treads will definitely help us see patterns and possible bug that we have not yet encounter. But based your outcome here and Jim, sounds like we may have one. I'll test this on my end and let you know. Thanks.

Hi Rui, Not a problem. Glad that worked for you. If you or Jim Somerville dont mind answering back here. I'm curious to know, was the Web Content URL ever set prior to upgrading to this version? Thanks again.

Hi Rui, Was digging around internally and found one other rare case where they had multiple domains involved. But if you are accessing Pro from the same Enterprise based deployment (Enterprise portal) then this shouldn't be the issue. I believe we might have a Web Adaptor or Portal configuration issue here just because of the redirect issue you mentioned previously. Quick Test: 1. On the same machine as the Enterprise portal and ArcGIS Pro, can you go to your Internet Explorer, open the portal home page ie https://domain.com/portal and this should automatically log you in, as your AD (active directory account) since you have IWA configured, once logged in, Open ArcGIS Pro and see if you are still presented the same issue (assuming that the "Active Portal connection" is still set to https://domain.com/portal, or are you prompted for a login? 2. On your Web Adaptor IIS, can you temporarily set the Anonymous Authentication to enabled while having Windows Authentication enabled as well. (again I know this not standard practice, just wanted to rule out something here) if this does nothing, then set it back accordingly. Use Integrated Windows Authentication with your portal—Portal for ArcGIS (10.7 and 10.7.1) | ArcGIS Enterprise Additional questions: -Do you have a Web Context URL set for portal? if so, is it the DNS name? Configure your portal to use a reverse proxy server—Portal for ArcGIS (10.6) | ArcGIS Enterprise -Do you have ArcGIS Solution Deployment add-in installed? Install the ArcGIS Solutions Deployment Add-In—Get Started | ArcGIS Solutions for Water -Any Proxy involved here? How To Check the Proxy Server Settings on Your Computer

Hi Rui Menezes or Sanne Mikkelsen Can either of you share your Enterprise configuration and or Authentications (Built-In, IWA, SAML)? Also the error that you are both encountering? I suspect it would be different depending on the types authentication you are using. Is License Manager involved here? if so, what version and does this work out of your current machine you are attempting to log into? other suggestions: 1. Delete the Enterprise Portal connection and Re-create it again, just like in ArcMap. Manage portal connections from ArcGIS Pro—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop 2. Use Portal Initial Admin account and create a connection using the port instead of the DNS or NLB (network load ballancer, if any) example: https://FQDN:7443/arcgis 3. Use a free tool like Fiddler is a free tool that is good for capturing inbound and outbound web traffic to see what kind of error codes might be returned when the client is making the request to the server. This would at least help you narrow down what might be causing the issue. Also reach out to Technical Support for additional assistance. Esri Support Home

Hi anjelina ponkerat, Have you reviewed the KB arcticle below? Error: Could not access any GIS Server machines. Please contact your system administrator It appears the ArcGIS Web Adaptor is starting before ArcGIS Server, and is unable to establish connection to the machine. Hence ArcGIS for Server is generating those logs. If you need further assistance, I suggest opening a case with Tech Support. Hope this helps.

Hi Sorato Marques, In most situation this could just be that the IIS Server is not enabled for the binding on port 443 (HTTPS) hence the site will work only with http. Other situations, there could be a mix protocol both on IIS (http binding port 80 enabled but not port 443, could be happening in your situation) and ArcGIS Server (http and https enabled or just http only enabled, like on pre ArcGIS Server 10.4, which could be in this case) Again depending on the version of Arcgis for Server, you may want to see the default protocol that the Arcgis Server is configured with. Enable HTTPS on your web server—ArcGIS Web Adaptor (IIS) Installation Guide | ArcGIS Enterprise (10.7 document) Enabling SSL on ArcGIS Server—Documentation (10.3 and 10.3.1) | ArcGIS Enterprise (10.3 document) Hope this helps.

Just for reference and visibility, same issue found on the blog below: Again, this is a known defect: BUG-000119769: Deleting Living Atlas content from Portal for ArcGIS 10.6 causes an upgrade failure when upgrading to Portal for ArcGIS 10.6.1(also seen when upgrading to 10.7.1) *This issue has been fixed in version 10.8 as mentioned, "For those of you who are encountering this defect, do not remove the "livingatlasdiff.sql" This fix is more like a band-aid than a permanent solution. You'll be able to successfully upgrade this time but any subsequent upgrades will fail. With this in mind, please contact Esri Tech Supportif you haven't already done so, in order to resolve this issue." ArcGIS Enterprise Portal Upgrade Error 10.7.1

As a quick test, outside of the Webgisdr, are you able to make an ArcGIS Server back up site or Portal backup via the admin end points using the ports or through the Web Adaptor URL? https://server:port/arcgis/exportSite or https://portalwebadaptor/portal/portladmin/exportSite https://developers.arcgis.com/rest/enterprise-administration/server/exportsite.htm

I would see about running the Configure Arcgis Server Account Utility to see if this remedies the issue. The ArcGIS Server account—ArcGIS Server Administration (Windows) | ArcGIS Enterprise If you have already done this, and the issue persist, I would question to see if there is any local GPO (group policy) that is somehow effecting this. Probably check with your IT team on that. Another possible route, would be creating another local admin account? and set that as the services account and see if that works?
