I am trying to add a pdf tutorial I found on http://learn.arcgis.com to an ESRI Learning Plan, but there doesn't seem to be an option to do this when editing a Learning Plan on ESRI's Training website. Anyone have any tips?

I'm working on a story map for field planning and ran into a couple of issues. I'd like to present this to my field team, and it'd be great if it were more interactive so that I could click on other objects in the maps (e.g. past field inspection data points) and have the feature information pop-up, as in typical webapp maps. I decided I may have to use Webapp Builder for that, which is fine, however I would also like to have the photos show up as well - this was my primary reason for using a StoryMap. So I tried to get the photos that were uploaded into the storymap to show up in the web map pop-ups by editing the pop-up properties. However, I then realized that the string field (pic_url) of the map tour layer is too short to contain the full picture urls, and ends up presenting a broken image instead. This seems like a defect. How do I get ESRI to lengthen their map tour pic_url fields so that they can contain full length urls (the easy solution)? and if that's not possible, could esri consider enabling info capabilities in storymaps (the potentially more difficult solution)?

If you hover over the save field changes icon, a banner comes up stating that there are unsaved feature edits. You're right though, this is not at all intuitive and took me awhile to figure out.

Just had a field worker come to me concerned that they were doing something wrong. We had two maps downloaded with the same editable layers. One of the maps was downloaded for offline use in case connection was lost. The other, which made use of a public wms in the map, was not downloaded. As it turned out, connectivity was not a problem during fieldwork, so they started editing the layers on the map that wasn't downloaded. They were alarmed to find that when they switched to the downloaded map, the edits made on the other map automatically showed up. My understanding is that as long as connectivity is available, even downloaded maps will show map updates, until connectivity is lost. Can anyone verify that this is correct?

That tutorial link is broken - do you happen to know if something similar has been posted elsewhere? It's exactly what I'm trying to do, from the sounds of it. Thanks.

This is an old thread, but I found this information to be extremely helpful as well when trying to figure out how to register versioned data: How To: Register different versions of the same database

Your data has to either have archiving enabled or be versioned before it is published to server for it to be usable offline with Collector. See the link that Juan provided above for details.

Scott Prindle My agency uses Collector to manage natural resource sites. On a typical inspection, we walk the perimeter of the site and would ideally take point locations along the way to record notable features or problems. We use the streaming tool to create a polygon, but if we pause streaming to add a point and then try to go back to edit the polygon and continue streaming, it's a nonstarter. Streaming can be started again in edit mode, but the polygon is not updated. So we end up having to walk the perimeter twice, once for the polygon and once for the points - highly inefficient.

For your second option, using Map Notes: After you save your Map Notes from the map as a layer to My Content, on the item details page you should have four options - Open in Map Viewer, Publish, Share, and Metadata. If you use Publish to make the item a hosted layer, you will then be able to view it in Desktop.

Thanks, Ryan. This tip was very helpful. It's still not as fast as using WGS1984, but it is a big improvement and an easy adjustment for users to make. Most of our users have not switched to Pro yet, but I did notice that rendering is much faster in Pro (2.0) than in ArcMap, even when using Albers.

A user is having problems loading the World Imagery basemap in ArcMap 10.3. Using the Add Basemap icon, he is able to select it from the ArcOnline Basemap menu. However, after clicking Add, nothing appears in the table of contents aside from the newly created Basemap group, which is empty and can't be expanded. Note that he is able to add the basemap by connecting to the arcgisonline server in Catalog and dragging and dropping it into the map. Has anyone run into this issue or have tips on how to fix it?

Yes, the ESRI World Imagery that came out in June is higher resolution and more current for the areas of interest, so they prefer to use that. We do have a tile package of the SDMI imagery that we've been using with Collector, however, which generally works well enough for fieldwork.

We're trying that right now. The sites of interest are rather spread out though, so it would have to be several specific areas/maps.
