So upon further testing it seems like many of the methods inside of the Attribute Assistant are not working... The only one that seems to actually work outside of the sample data is the Generate_ID but only partially as described above. Does anyone have a point of contact that could help me out with this? I see some Esri folks have been posting in some other places but the AA does not seem to have widespread use.

Good morning, We are beginning to work out using Attribute Assistant in 10.2/10.3 and have been having some issues. Hopefully there are others that have solved these and can provide some input on how to clear things up a bit. I know there are a lot of users that really have had success using the Attribute Assistant. The {Option} portion of the Generate_ID method does not seem to be working... My table uses the Generate_ID for generating a FacilityID for the LGIM so my tables and fields look like the following: GenerateID Table OBJECTID Sequence Name Sequence Counter Interval Value Comments 1 FACGENID 1 1 Generates a Facility ID number incrementing at 1 DynamicValue Table OBJECTID Table Name Field Name Value Method Value Info On Create On Change (Attribute) On Change (Geometry) Manual Only Rule Weight Comments 1 FacilitySitePoint FacilityID Generate_ID FACGENID|6|[seq] True False False False 1 This method does work and will successfully generate an ID value but also regenerates if a user mistakenly selects a feature that already has an ID. If I use the option and input the Value Info field as FACGENID|6|[seq]|True and the values in the table are <Null> the Attribute Assistant does not generate a value. If I change the field to FACGENID|6|[seq]|False, it also does not generate a value. I have purposefully left out the additional ID information for simplicity to test the generation of values using this tool. I did have to import and modify the two tables from the Address Data Management template as I was missing the domains from the tables when I pulled them in empty from the Attribute Assistant download. One thing we have been looking at is if we can add the Generate_ID command into an Expression method. Does anyone know if this is possible? The reason being we are trying to keep a portion of our primary keys smart in that it collects the value from the SUBTYPEFIELD for the facilities and populates those down. It will also give us a basis to move expressions across into some of our other features like RoadCenterline and AddressPoint. Thanks, Justin West

Good morning, I am working with the FacilitySitePoint feature and want to set up the relationship classes to help populate the break-out datasets for my public safety features. Looking at the relationship classes provided with the data model there is only one table and one relationship feature class that is created that appears to map to the SUBTYPEFIELD and the FEATURECODE. Has anyone had any success building out the relationships with the FACILITYID and getting the tables to populate appropriately? Thanks, Justin

I do, the description for the field states "Address information combined into one text field. In your community, this may include the following fields: PREADDRNUM, ADDRNUM, ADDRNUMSUF, FULLNAME, UNITTYPE, UNITID, ALTUNITTYPE, and ALTUNITID." With the Site Address Points it gives the Primary and Alternate address names which would look a bit strange in the field together. As an example we have Highway 78 which is also known as East 5th North Street (E 5th N St) so if I were entering it all into that field there may be some confusion. We use the common name in the FULLADDR field with the entire postal address just like in the other feature classes. In the Facility Site Point feature it also has the FULLADDR field so we would want these to match so that if there ever needed to be a join by an address we have those to match up as we have several Main St, Broad St, Frontage Rd, etc addresses that are identical without the city information.

Good afternoon, We are also using the LGIM and I have been working on entering addresses into the database for some of the other features. Whenever I use the FULLADDR field I make sure to treat it exactly like I would be sending mail to that address. It seems to be working for us and I have had no issues when pulling information up by that field. Additionally some of the other features only have a FULLADDR field and not a breakout of the field sections like is in the Site Address Point feature class. Hope this helps, Justin West GIS Analyst E-911/Emergency Management Department Dorchester County, SC

Hopefully the metadata files you are getting are in XML format. If they are you can rename the XML to filename.datatype.xml for example Shapefile_1.shp.xml or Layer_1.lyr.xml. This should allow Arc to read the XML when the file is opened in ArcCatalog. You would then need to run the Upgrade Metadata tool and select the FGDC to ArcGIS or other format that you suspect the file is in. Hope this helped. - Justin

Cheryl, I am looking through my messages to see if the answer is in there but since the update to the GeoNet it does not look like it was saved. If I remember correctly it was a setting in the "Page and Print Setup" with the page size selection. The "Use Printer Paper Settings" box was the issue. try that to see if it corrects your layout problem. Sorry I could not find the answer for you. Respectfully, Justin

Good morning everyone, I am working with some DDP layouts and need to add a text note on one page but not have it appear on any others. I see that a lot of people are using Python to script attribute tables into their pages but mine is not a part of a layer or feature. Is there a way to do this? Thanks, Justin

Hello everyone, I am working with some dynamic scale text on my map products and have run into an issue. I use two scale text blocks, I use the absolute scale (1:9,000)as well as a relative scale (1 inch = 750 feet). I can get the dynamic absolute to populate into a text box using: Absolute Scale: 1:<dyn type="dataFrame" name="Main" property="scale"/> I need to display the relative in a similar way but the only thing I have is the option within the dynamic scale dialog for creating the scale text. Does anyone know how to configure this or if it is possible?

Good morning, I have been having some issues with a field calculation to redefine my X, Y values from a table import. I have a script saved but it is not working for me anymore and I keep getting the ERROR 000539: SyntaxError: invalid syntax (<expression>, line 1). I am running Arc 10.1 I have fields named X and Y. I begin editing select my Shape* field and select Field Calculator. Create my Python script in the codeblock.
def movePoint(shape,X,Y):
point = shape.getPart(0)
point.X = X
point.Y = Y
return point
SHAPE = movePoint( !SHAPE!, !X!, !Y! ) Normally this was working for me but I have only been getting errors trying to run it on this dataset. Thanks in advance.

I am trying to create polygons from polylines on a large dataset and retain the attributes. I looked in the ArcGIS help and it says that the "Preserve Attributes" option is no longer functional. Is there a workaround for this?

The best way I have found is to create a Feature Class and use the ArcCatalog Load => Load Data function, import the fields from the applicable part of the .dgn file and work from there.

When you do your export look at your Resolution dpi. I have had issues before where a lower dpi with a high Resample Ratio managed to get me a fairly good output. Depending on what you are doing I normally drop the dpi to about 150 and then work up from there.
