OK Jordan, I played around with the AppStudio - Quick Report template...created two different applications: First one used ESRI cloud for storing the point FeatureClass...which I created from scratch including lots of fields. The Second one used my internal Server URL for the internally-hosted FeatureClass...different from the first, but still including a lot of extra fields. In both cases, once I published the App, the fields in the FeatureServices cannot be modified. I suspect that re-publishing the service with some fields turned on, others/most turned off, is the best way to accomplish the appearance of 'turning off fields' in the Quick Report template. Remember, the features and the AppStudio functionality is evolving, so this answer will not always be the most current solution. Hopes this helps until then, Jason

I believe Jordan's question is related to this App Studio (Citizen Engagement) Quick Report template: Configure Quick Report—AppStudio for ArcGIS (Desktop Edition) | ArcGIS

This problem still exists in 10.3.1 (Desktop and Server) and Oracle Views don't always fix the problem. I'm going to try the 'query layer' approach to see if it more consistently fixes it. (wish me luck, then hold your breath)

Ben, There's a comment in the documentation for the Extent property of the DataFrame class: "If the aspect ratio of the extent does not match the shape of the data frame, the final extent will be adjusted to fit the new extent within the shape of the data frame. In other words, if you set explicit X, Y coordinates, you may not get the same values returned if you attempt to read them later. " <--I suspect this is what is partly the cause of what's happening. A second contributing factor may be the dataFrame object is assigned out of an 'original_spatial_reference' into 'WGS 84' then back into the original spatial reference again. -- although there isn't print out of what the original is. Here's my request: please print out the original_spatial_reference, the dataframe map units, and the elementWidth, elementHeight at each step in the routine: before you start, during the assignments, and before/after each spatial reference shift. -- The last two properties will let us look at the dataframe aspect ratio which is held constant during the assignment of Mins and Maxs. Lastly, while in WGS84, try setting the extent of your MXD by hand using those input values, then shift spatial references back to your original spatial reference and map units, then interrogate the MXD to look for those odd printed out values. (the ones that look like UTM meters and/or decimal degrees.) Good news is that your custom_extent array and newExtents assignments are formatted correctly; there should be nothing wrong with these. Please reply back with what printouts arcpy gives at each step and we'll proceed from there. Jason S. aka JasonInVegas

THE FEATURE IS ALLREADY ON LINE The next-best thing to do is: 1) add the field to the source feature class in ArcGIS for Desktop then 2) re-publish the featureclass with the newly-added field Be sure to give the 2nd publishing the same service name as the original, so it will completely overwrite the original service definition and features on ArcGIS Online.

Mathew, That's a great question. Short answer is "No, not yet." Until such time that restricted use permissions are introduced (i.e. public "view" , "copy", but not "re-publish") are available, I suggest a couple of steps (in a manual process) for managing this issue: (sorry in advance that this is going to sound like an effort in metadata / rights management) 1) Clearly and carefully spell out the Access and Use Constraints in the Map and each of the Layers. Specifically identify the authoritative origin as being a single AGS Online account and prohibit in writing the re-publication of the map for non-authorized uses. (I assume your organization wants people to use your work, just not to republish it as their own.) 2) Communicate within/across your organization about the potential issues involved with copying and public publishing of non-authoritative maps. -- the objective is to get buy-in within the organization for a structured publication process. 3) Routinely search for and identify AGS Online maps that are re-published, non-authoritative sources of your organization's work products. Enter into polite communication with the authors of these alternate publications asking them to either a)keep those maps private or b)clearly revise the maps to not be a duplicate of your authoritative source. (In the examples above, changing the background may not be enough to be a different map product, in my opinion.) 4) Finally, if you choose to do so (or maybe a public information person should do this) you could add a public comment in the other map stating "this work is based entirely on the authoritative work from ESRI and your agency" then include a link to the original map URI. And purely as my opinion, the second map makes no claim to being an official source, nor does it misrepresent PBCDERM, so placing links to the original source may help the AGS Online community establish increased transparency and trust. Good Luck, Jason S.; Las Vegas, NV

Are you clicking the share button when the webmap is opened? Or are you clicking the share button from the thumbnail/list? To get the Make Web Application or Embed map buttons to appear you have to hit the share button from within the webmap itself. It can get confusing since there are about 3 share buttons and only one of them allows you to make an application. Argh! I get it, I see it, I did it....I even screen-captured it.. Thanks!

Everyone, our sales person told me that current subscribers will get letters in the next week or so with instructions for how to get an ArcGIS Online account and a code to use. Apparently it was supposed to be available with the release of 10.2 but was slightly delayed. So, I answered myself. Mary Mary, I'm a Silver-level ESRI partner and we get the same "complimentary" AGOnline account that is available with 10.2 subscriptions. However, that is described as a "level 1" subscription and may not provide all the expected functionality that you are looking for. For example, I can not deploy an application based on a Web Map using the "Make a Web App" link within AGOnline. Once I get more details on my subscription and capabilities/limitations, I will post an update to this thread....but don't hold your breath on "full functionality." Jason

Hi In arcmap I used WGS 1984 Web Mercator (auxiliary sphere) but it will not placed exact location whatever we creating shapefile in arcgisonline and google maps. Please anyone tell which coordinates to use for exact location. Thanks Advance Raj Raj, Please clarify what problem(s) you see when you create a shapefile (You say the data are not placed in the "exact location" but that says you expected something different than you saw...A)what did you see, B)what did you expect? Perhaps two screenshots will support your answer. I have a lot of experience with both WM and WMAS, and I do not experience the problem as you explained it. -- Specifically, my data appear where I expect it: My data do not shift relative to a basemap when I change the map projection between WM and WMAS., nor when I substitute one (WM) basemap for another (WMAS) basemap. I am also having the same problem.... I am using my partner subscription and have over 2400 credits (currently)
All the feature classes are shared All the services definition files are shared the desired Web Map is also shared
Tim suggested to Natasha that she upload a screenshot, but it wouldn't be clear what to screenshot because the "Make a Web Application" option isn't shown....makes it hard to choose a relevant screenshot!
