Hello, Is anyone working with the Geo AI Data Science VM on Azure yet? I looked around the forums and didn't see any mention. Before I post my issue I just wanted to double check before I add to this thread. FYI: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/machine-learning/data-science-virtual-machine/provision-geo-ai-dsvm Thanks, Joseph

Hello GeoNet Community, Can ArcCatalog connect to a SQL Server Analysis Services Tabular Model and consume it as one would with Query Layers and Tables? I have done some research on this but I haven't found any documentation or discussion answering Yes/No. Thank you in advance for the support! Joseph

Hello I'm trying to set up a configuration file in ArcGIS Explorer 2500 and have it connect to various servers automatically. In the configuration utility I click Add (see image) but it tells me I have to define the connections in ArcGIS Explorer. I guess there should already be connections in the box before I can connect to them automatically. I've got lots of connections in ArcGIS Explorer but somehow they aren't getting recognized/-remembered so that the configuration utility can see them. I've tried this on a personal computer as well and the behavior is the same. So either I'm not doing this correctly or the program is not remembering them. Anyone else have any luck saving ArcGIS Server connections in a configuration file? Thanks Ellen I am having the same issue and help is appreciated. Kevin At 2500 some modifications to how things are handled in User Appdata profile introduced an error. You can work around this by doing the following. In your Windows File browser if you type in. %appdata%\Local\ESRI\ArcGIS Explorer You will see a Connections.xml file in this folder. If you copy this file to %appdata%\Roaming\ESRI\arcgis explorer The Application Configuration Manager will be able to find the Explorer Connections xml file, and you will be able to add them to your application configuration. Mark Mark, This helped getting the connections available in the Application Configuration Manager. This did not make the connections available to my users once I deployed the configuration file. When my users run the configuration file, they see only connections they have created locally or no connections at all and must specify the information. Janice, I have not been able to reproduce the condition you are encountering. After copying the connections file to the roaming folder, I have created application configurations with service and file geodatabase connection. I have then successfully used them on separate machines. I uploaded the application configuration here http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=780152ce0c5a447f844b4160c6f9a8a5 Do you see the connections when you use it? Mark Hi Mark, Thanks for the quick reply! I do see the connections when I use the above configuration. I see that the information is written to C:\Users\janiceb\AppData\Local\ESRI\ArcGIS Explorer\AppConfig\connecttest(1). The Connections.xml file in this location shows the connections that I see in the app. Also in the AppConfig folder I see the configuration that I built but the Connections.xml file has no connections. When I deploy my configuration file I place it in a folder that is accessible by my users and write the location to the registry on their computers. The registry entry is AppConfig under Explorer2500\Settings with the path as the value. I have successfully used this method of deployment with previous versions of Explorer. It has been a while since I have deployed a new version and may have something wrong however, the other information in the configuration is working. Just no connections. Thanks for your help, Janice. Add my voice to Eric's! Just another week left for the month. I think the final was promised this month, so I hope we at least get an update by the end of the month. Mark, Thank you for keeping us up to date on this forum. I too am awaiting this release for dozens of users throughout our organization. We are actually flying people in from across the country for training at the end of this month. It would be IMMENSELY helpful to get an idea of an estimated date for the release (two days from now?, two weeks?), as I will need to create training/test/deploy/etc. I do appreciate the responses, as this is clearly an important product for many customers of ESRI. Thanks, Eric

Hello Mark, I am having the same problem on some machines. Can you provide the paths for XP? I can't find the folders given the Win7 paths. Thanks, Dustin, Maybe the URL to the basemaps is blocked on your computer? This is how the basemaps work. When you start ArcGIS Explorer (on Startup) ArcGIS Explorer sends the following request: http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemaps.xml ?? english language Basemaps.xml named differently for other languages. This will return the following: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!-- updated 19/12/2011 11:39 a.m. --> <Basemaps> <basemap file="basemap6.nmf" group=" " name="Bing Maps Aerial"/> <basemap file="basemap7.nmf" group=" " name="Bing Maps Hybrid"/> <basemap file="basemap8.nmf" group=" " name="Bing Maps Road"/> <basemap file="basemap0.nmf" group=" " name="World Imagery"/> <basemap file="basemap2.nmf" group=" " name="World Topography"/> <basemap file="basemap9.nmf" group=" " name="World Streets"/> <basemap file="basemap11.nmf" group=" " name="Imagery with Labels"/> <basemap file="basemap5.nmf" group=" " name="World Physical"/> <basemap file="basemap10.nmf" group=" " name="OpenStreetMap"/> <basemap file="basemap3.nmf" group=" " name="World Terrain"/> <basemap file="basemap12.nmf" group=" " name="Oceans"/> <basemap file="basemap13.nmf" group=" " name="National Geographic"/> <basemap file="basemap14.nmf" group=" " name="Light Gray Canvas"/> </Basemaps> From this ArcGIS Explorer makes the following requests for basemaps. http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap6.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap6.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap7.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap7.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap8.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap8.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap0.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap0.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap2.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap2.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap9.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap9.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap11.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap11.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap5.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap5.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap10.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap10.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap3.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap3.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap12.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap12.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap13.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap13.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap14.nmf http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap14.png The basemaps are cached locally on your computer at the following location: Inside the folder you will see all of the basemaps and thumbnails for the basemap gallery: If you can access all of the above URL's and the basemaps are downloadable, it should work. ArcGIS Explorer reads the basemaps from the cache folder. It may be that you have something on your computer or network that blocks the downloading of the basemap files. -Mark

I am going to try to apply the above fix next week. I got busy on other projects and the user was working around the issue. After I try it I will report back to you guys. Thanks I have a user experiencing the same issue. He is able to map the basemaps and save them manually from the nmf files, and he has the ability to edit the %TMP% folder, but basemaps do not appear automatically when he opens AGE. The manual process is OK, but it doesn't have the nice thumbnail so the user knows which basemap he's picking...unless there's a manual way to update that as well?

I just wanted to add that I would also love to see a code sample on this. I was thinking of using LINQ-SharePoint to populate an the ArcGIS SP WebPart list from an ECT. Thanks Hello, I am dealing with this same issue for a client using SharePoint 2010, the ArcGIS Map Webpart, and BDC. Any chance you can contact me with more details around custom code workaround? Thank you.

Hello Mark, My apologies, I was off a few days. The resource URLs work. When saving the nmf as a basemap it shows ALONE as a basemap, so we can create basemaps. Hope this helps. I was considering loading 1750 to see if that fixes it. What do you think? Thanks for the help!! Joseph If you put the URL in for the resources.. http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap9.png http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap9.nmf do they work? On the machine that is having problems if you open the Map (http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemap9.nmf) and then save it as a basemap, what happens? Mark

Hello Mark, Yes, the user has access to that URL. I can see the xml in IE as I click on the URL you provided below. I still can't see the basemaps. Is there another place I should look or something else we should do? Thanks Does the user have access to this URL http://www.esri.com/software/basemaps/basemaps.xml This is where the basemaps are pulled from. Mark

Hello All, Using AGX 1700 on a WinXPSP3 machines: One of my users cannot see the ten (10) basemaps that all other users logging into the same workstation can view. These are default Basemap on the dropdown from the ribbon. I am assuming there is some profile corruption, given that other users are working as normal when they logon. Is there an User specific folder that I need to look for and repair/replace? Has anyone else had this problem? By the way, repair and uninstall and reinstall didn't work. Feel free to ask for more information. Thanks in advance for the support.
