I have an enterprise database hosted on a PostgreSQL database server. I have loaded data to a new schema, inside feature dataset containers, for groups of features. All of the initial loading and management happened in ArcMap 10.7.1 and I am able to interact and work with the data just fine from desktop. When I try to access that data using the same database login from Pro, I am unable to see anything except the attachment relationship classes outside of the feature datasets in the catalog pane. The datasets themselves do not show up for me to choose data. When I use the "Add Data" button I see nothing within the database. Is there a setting I'm missing to access enterprise databases in Pro that I'm missing? Thanks for any help that can be offered. Nick

Thanks to Jessica for the methodology document. Just wanted to share my tweaked method that retains a GlobalID relationship. This way it can go right back up to AGO or SDE. For each feature class and attachment data table add a new GUID type field **Note GUID fields do not seem to work well in Personal Geodatabases. For this purpose use a File GDB New GIUD field = "Global_Holder" Populate each “Global_Holder” using the field calculator with the following: Feature Class – GlobalID Field Calculator – Global_Holder = GLOBALID Attachment Table – REL_GLOBALID Field Calculator – Global_Holder = REL_GLOBALID Append the feature classes so that all data is together in one Geodatabase Append the Attachment tables together Join Attachment table to appended Feature class based on “Global_Holder” Calculate Attachment table Global_Holder with Feature Class “GlobalID” Remove Join(s) In the Catalog Panel Delete the RELATIONSHIP for the attachments NOT the attachment data table for each feature class. Attachment relationship is now removed Right click in the catalog panel -> manage -> Create attachments An attachment table is now created empty. Right click table in catalog panel -> load -> load data… Load data from the merged attachment table and change the matching source field from REL_GLOBALID to Global_Holder Check to ensure attachments are now visible in ArcMap. Remove temporary fields and old attachment data tables. Thanks, Just wanted to pay some help forward even if I am 2 years late.

The Item is any and all objects available. In my case this is Web Maps, Feature Services, Map Services, and Web Mapping applications. The data sources vary from being hosted by my ArcGIS Server to being hosted by AGO on my organizations account. I am using an AGO for organizations account. My account is an administrator and I checked to be sure that the privileges were not modified. Hope that helps.

I called in to support and I was able to use IE as a workaround. The problem is that on the main "My Content" page when I check the box next to the item I want to share no "share" button appears at the top. Then when I enter the item details page, there is a "share" button but when I use it no sharing options are available (even public). I have updated Chrome to the latest version but still have the same result. I like Chrome as a browser so I'm curious if this is just a local machine problem. I also am posting so that others who may have my problem will have a clue if they run into this. Thanks

Kyle, Thanks for the quick reply. We're using Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2's as the platform. As for right now the workaround is to go out of ArcPad, take a picture with the native camera app (8MP), then go back and link to it from ArcPad. Not the best solution but it'll work for now. This is the second baseline problem we've had with ArcPad in the Windows 8 environment. The other was the recently fixed Windows API GPS issue. You'd think they'd have this fixed by now as I'm not the only person moving to Win 8 Tablets. When I was working on the GPS issue there were many others having the same issue and I assume the same amount having the camera issue. Frusterated would be the bottom line at this point.

So just to clarify. Does this mean that there is no solution to this? Or does that mean that if you call support they can help work around it? Thanks

I can also confirm it works on a Lenovo TP 2 (broadband version) in ArcPad 10.1. I can recieve GPS now from both the cellular chip and COM as well as the Virtual COM I designated in the software. Great find! Thanks

Denise and others, Question for you in regards to the Lenovo ThinkPads We are about to buy a Lenovo ThinkPad 2 Win 8 Pro tablets w/GPS & Mobile broadband to use with ArcGIS Mobile for Windows and want to verify; will the GPS will work via the aforementioned COM port even without an active cellular data service plan? We plan to copy the map cache and sync the features while in the office and use the map in a disconnected mode. How does ArcGIS Mobile work as far as performance? Have you guys been able to test any Windows 8 Pro devices that have the i3, i5, processors vs the Atom? Thanks all for your time and advice, I just returned from a field collection in which we used the Lenovo TP2 (3682-22U) Broadband version with no wireless plan. The GPS worked fine. We were using ArcPad but the interface is the same for both programs.

@Kopcz1nj thanks for doing this but I think your link doesn't work because you were signed in. I got this link by clicking Share on the Ideas page: http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=087E00000004YOnIAM Daniel, Thanks for the heads up. I see there's no way to edit my old post so we're stuck with it I guess.

Some updates and some reading for those of us stuck with these devices/problems. It turns out that I have an Android tablet with the exact same chip as my Lenovo. It is definitely GPS enabeled (I used it to help test my Lenovo TP2). I'm still working my way through Lenovo tech support but no answers yet. I'm assuming the line will be that they're not supporting that function of the chip, but I'll update when I know more (in a week...). http://www.techrepublic.com/photos/cracking-open-asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime/6343522?seq=46 Probably more interesting is this blog post from some Intel guy about programming for windows location API and determining where the signal is coming from. You programmers (or team ArcPad) out there might just be able to create a virtual COM from the location API and pass usable data to it with these guidelines. http://software.intel.com/node/326806 For now, I've dug out my old Dell BT GPS's (or use my Android phone) to give me a location in the field, but it sure would be nice to have an all-in-one solution in the field someday from these devices.

I'm having trouble with my dropdowns not working in ArcPad after I've resized them to be more "finger friendly" in Studio. It does do something when you hit the dropdown arrow next to the field but no text shows up. If I hit the arrow keys i can view the resized text but only one at a time. Has anyone had this issue? The normal sized unedited dropdowns work fine. Thanks

I don't know what chip your lenovo came with, but the BCM47511 which is in the Dell is true GPS. From Broadcom's website: "The BCM47511 is the latest generation of standalone GPS SoC solutions, adding GLONASS functionality, while remaining pin-compatible to the BCM4751 GPS SoC solution. The Broadcom® BCM47511 standalone GPS receiver and the Broadcom BCM2076 combo receiver with Bluetooth and an FM tuner feature dual constellation support of both GPS and GLONASS satellites. BCM47511 GPS receivers will have the ability to use an additional 21 GLONASS satellites currently (24 projected in the future), on top of the existing 30 U.S. GPS satellites, nearly doubling the number of satellites that can be used for navigation. In urban areas, many GPS satellites are blocked by buildings, so the additional 21 satellites offered by the GLONASS system will provide significant improvements in location performance and accuracy over currently available GPS receivers. The BCM47511 SoC solution is Broadcom's latest generation of standalone receiver, featuring both integrated GPS and GLONASS. Since it is pin-for-pin compatible with Broadcom's popular BCM4751 SoC solution, customers can quickly upgrade their products to include GLONASS navigation support." Speaking of which, I was digging through the driver from the Dell website and I noticed references to the BCM4751 and a driver called BcmGnssBus.sys which it says: BcmGnssBus.sys - ACPI/UART&GPIO Driver wrapper exposes ACPI/UART driver as COM22 for BcmGnss.dll Which to me sounds promising, but unfortunately I can't get my hands on the tablet. The guys using it need it every day. So I can't mess around with it anymore. The lenovo does indeed have the BCM47511 and I did review the info on Broadcom's site. The only thing I can think is that the chip is a mediator betweeen the BCM4751 (no extra 1) and the system. Meaning the BCM4751 (GPS) is compatible but the BCM47511 does not actually catch the signal. I'm still in talks with Lenovo about the actual capability of this device. There is a possibility that I have a version that was shipped with a bad antenna but i'm thinking that's a slim possibility. I'll update as I learn more. Thanks for the input.
