I work for a large school system and I am using ArcCollector to have students catalog organisms in the field using Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tablets. With a system our size and all the concerns regarding student privacy, I have to be very cautious with what students upload. One question I was asked by our Web Filter team is what port does the data pass through on its way to Esri. They want to make sure it is not blocked by our firewall.

I am looking to have students use Collector on our next box trails. Establishing the initial location of the boxes and their point specific attributes (height, direction, ground cover, etc.) is simple. However, I want students be able to return to the same location and update the box with data such as nesting species, number of eggs, color of eggs, number of hatchlings, and fledglings. We would want to continue this collection annually to look for trends. Any ideas how to configure the geodatabase to accommodate?

All of the above. I can already do the paper pencil model. The plan is to use that in Kindergarten. Kids collect the data and teacher inputs it into the system. The tablet based version is what I am trying to solve. I can (in theory) create an off line map for Collector, but I need a recommendation for the device with GPS.

Greetings! Your EFS's have been very helpful. I am starting our outdoor education program down the path of modernization. The goal is to have students collect data in the field asynchronously (we cant afford cell phones for every student). Once we get back in the building, the data can be uploaded for student use through our network. So what I need is a tablet based data collection tool with GPS so students can mark their locations while in the field. High accuracy is not a priority. Do you have any recommendations?

I am having the same problem with AGO mapping applications. When I build the web map, pop up sensitivity is fine. When the data is shared through one of the story map templates you have to be very precise on the spot you click in order to have anything to happen. Can the sensitivity be adjusted?
