One thing I have done in the past is to check out a license. This eliminates the software from having to validate the license every so often but also allows the user to go "offline" or at least off the VPN network if they need to. I believe this is especially helpful with ArcGIS Pro since it does more validation.

After reviewing BUG-000121049 and looking at the work around I found I was able to get it to work. Key elements being the group is owned by a non-SAML user (i used our primary administrator account) and the group name registered with Portal to be domain + "\" + group_name and not just group name.

Wow! A wide variety of issues with this it seems. I had wondered if an upgrade to 10.8 would fix the issue, but I guess not. I understand the complexities of integrating with a third party system like this and that it is not easy to build something and/or troubleshoot all cases. I can appreciate the effort and product planning put into this feature. However, I really wish ESRI would take a better approach to this and assist further and help fix this for us and presumably others.

Jeff, Thank you for taking the time to respond to my inquiry. Could the underlying operating system version and/or ADFS version be the difference in reproducing and not reproducing the error? Using SAML Tracer in Chrome I am able to see the SAML responses and claims. The XML being returned for the Group claim looks like the following. Do you see the same? Also, the group name values are blurred but are like the following "myDomain\the_group_name". Is this the valid format Portal is looking for? I have tried configuring Portal groups with and without the domain name value. Thank you, Mathias

BUG-000122852: Portal for ArcGIS does not refresh the membership fo.. We discovered this bug last year during our 10.7 install and configuration. This is a key feature we were hoping to leverage and have since been unable to do so and required a third party integration be developed to sync our portal with employee directory. It is still in the new status. Can someone from ESRI shed some light on the path of this bug being fixed? Has anyone else experienced this bug? Any work arounds? Mathias

We’ve discovered that the search results returned by Enterprise Sites are not useful in that the records do not link to the web app, web map or dashboard as one might expect. Anyone know where I can customize this? Is there a setting buried somewhere?

I am having some strange issues that I cannot yet pinpoint to our own network infrastructure or something in the configuration. Luckily this is only a test environment for us and its the perfect opportunity for these sort of things. We are using a third party load balancer for our two portal servers, specifically it is a Netscaler. We have the health check urls in place as well. The documentation and setup led us to believe it would be active-active setup. However, after speaking with support on another case and reading through the forums I now understand it isn't truly active-active. You mention in your comment that both servers still handle requests. With that statement in mind, is it still acceptable to send requests to either server? Thanks for the time and your response. Mathias Gieser mgieser@bepc.com

We are implementing a vehicle tracking service with use of GeoEvent. I am successfully able to bring the features in, process them and output them to a stream service. In the processing I am using the trackIdle processor from ESRI's GeoEvent team. This monitors and calculates the seconds the vehicle has been idle. Very handy. The problem comes when it is time change the symbology. We are looking to track ACTIVE, IDLE, and STOPPED vehicles using predefined increments/ranges of the idleDuration. Styling a stream layer does not seem to be possible this way. Using multiple layers with filters applied creates duplicate records as vehicles change status/idleDurations. I am trying to avoid customization as much as possible. Am I dreaming?

We have solid home grown radio communication system. It also reports positions of the radios which we use to power an AVL system. We are looking to modernize and upgrade the GIS portion of this and GeoEvent extension popped into my mind. The communication between the GeoEvent extension and the radio system is over my head but seems doable as we have had a trunk radio contractor try to sell us a similar product of their own. Does anyone know of an existing connector or know of a contractor who could build one? TIA
