Thank you for finding this information. I never really thought to look in the other apis. I'll take a look into this and post my final solution.

Thank for taking the time to look at this. I originally started by adding in a new OLEFrame, setting the envelope etc, but it would be null everytime that I added content to the Frame. I'm going to open a support ticket with ESRI on this one. Given the API information this should be possible, but like you said there are zero examples of this. My guess is that there is other non arcobjects operations going on in ArcMap. Whether or not esri will give that information to me is the other question. I'll post any findings here.Hornbydd

I'm trying to mirror the same functionality as the "Insert -> Object" that is built into Arcmap. The basic insert feature class as table, does not give enough style functionality. Adding the Excel as an object will give a nice formatted 'table'.

Background: I'm using ArcdDesktop 10.5 with Arcobjects (C#) for development. Problem: I'm working on automated Chart creation for a client. They need a table of data to be added to the chart, and the excel sheet gives the most flexibility in styling. I have created the excel with C#, and am trying to add this object to a MXD that is loaded in memory. I believe that I'm close but need some help to get it completed. I'm able to load the excel sheet into memory but am not able to 'add' or 'update' the OLEFrame with the content. I have tried adding a new OLEFrame with a given Envelope for placement and I've tried to find the OLEFrame from the IGraphicsContainer of the MXD and update the content. I keep getting the following error: "Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. at ESRI.ArcGIS.ArcMapUI.OleFrameClass.Load(IStream pstm)" Here is the code that I'm using. var outputFilePath = @"..."; IMemoryBlobStream MemStream = new MemoryBlobStreamClass(); IPageLayout pageLayout = TheMXD.PageLayout; IGraphicsContainer graphicsContainer = pageLayout as IGraphicsContainer; graphicsContainer.Reset(); IElement pElement = graphicsContainer.Next(); while (pElement != null) { IElementProperties ElementProps = pElement as IElementProperties; if (ElementProps.Name.Contains("Excel")) { MemStream.LoadFromFile(outputFilePath); IPersistStream oleSteam = pElement as IPersistStream; oleSteam.Load(MemStream); break; } pElement = graphicsContainer.Next(); } ((IActiveView)TheMXD.PageLayout).PartialRefresh(esriViewDrawPhase.esriViewGraphics, null, null);

I was wondering if you can used the 10.5 arcobjects sdk to still create 10.3/10.4 addins? Our team would like to use the visual studio features of 10.5, but still need to support a client base with the ArcDesktop 10.3. thanks,

Background: Oracle 11g R2 database Arcgis server 10.3.1 SRID: 300017 (of both tables) I would like to use spatial sql to check is a given Features shape (A) is found to be with in or the majority of the shape is touching, another Feature Classes features(B) set. I was thinking something like below, but I'm always getting back 'no data'. I have checked, visually, in arcmap and layers, what feature of B that A falls inside. So I know what the expected results should be. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. select r.regionCode into rCode from Regions r, analysis an where sde.st_intersects( an.shape,r.shape) = 1; Any help in either correcting my sql above or a suggestion on an alternative would be great.

After reading the posting from @Shea Burns, I found another way. If you had already installed both VS 2013 and the 10.3.1 SDK; then you can do the following. Copy the following into the same paths for vs 2015 (Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0): Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\CSharp\ArcGIS Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplatesCache\CSharp\ArcGIS Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\ArcGIS Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplatesCache\CSharp\ArcGIS Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\ESRI Follow step 4. from @Shea Burns. Then run these command from cmd.exe (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/y3kkate1.aspx ) devenv /installvstemplates. devenv /setup. Then you just have to make sure that all your assemblies are compiled to 4.5.0. You will get the following error if you forget to change your version. " The "ValidateAddInXMLTask" task failed unexpectedly."

I got a message back from tech support. Here is the answer. "This is a current bug/limitation as NIM062177 - ExportToPDF using arcpy does not export a layer attribute table embedded in a layout. And there is no workaround for this."

Thank you Dan for the feedback. I have made the edits to the post. As for the arcpy; I have found that a number of features do not work as they should. We will handle this with a long hand implementation.

Our MXD template has a Table View added, and everything looks fine in the mxd. When using Arcmap to generate the pdf, the table shows up as expected. We have arcpy.mapping scripts to generate the pdf using ExportToPDF, and for some reason the Table does not show up on the final PDF. Any suggestions on parameters or extra calls needed would be great. Here is the code that is being called: mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument(rootPath + '\\resources\\Template.mxd') .... #target table #experimenting with setting the size to make the image appear tableElement = arcpy.mapping.ListLayoutElements(mxd, wildcard="targetTable")[0] tableElement.elementHeight = 7.8264 tableElement.elementWidth = 10.9364 ... mxd.save() arcpy.mapping.ExportToPDF(mxd, productPath + "\\Report.pdf")

I have created a few addins for Arcmap. I wanted to know if i can share the common set of Dlls I have between them. I know Arcmap has the asembly cache, and per GUID(addin) all dlls have to be in there. Is there not a way to reference other folders?

I wanted to create a custom Attribute Table view, so that my users can add the non-gis data to the datasets. I cannot seem to find any resources on this topic. We have created a custom ObjectEventClass, but we would like our users to select from domains, or make certain data available, based on other data captured. Any direction would be great.
