Hi all @ "Something went wrong" when adding any data to Insights 2.1, After doing some digging I was able to find that this issue was due to ArcGIS Data Store being installed on a drive in which NTFS 8.3 (short names) was not enabled. To verify if your drive has short names enabled, run the below command:

Hi Rob, Thanks for posting. The only way to do this currently is through filters, and it wouldn't be exactly what you're looking for as a filter wouldn't dynamically display the 'top counts'. Rather, it filters a specified array of values. To do this, you'd have to setup a filter so that the chart only displays, say 'counts greater than 1.8' or 'between a range of 1.8 - 5'. In the example below, I have roughly 10 classifications but only 5 of them are displayed in the chart after applying the filter: What is your specific use case for having the top counts to be displayed dynamically in a chart card, Rob?

Hi Bartlomiej Gajc, Are you still encountering this issue in Insights? To answer your questions in the above post: 1) Do NOT unfederate. You are correct, this will be very harmful to your ArcGIS Enterprise. 2) That's correct, federation requires two URL's - Service URL and Admin URL - Based on your description, you configured these properly per our doc here. (See Step 5)

FYI - This issue resulted in a defect being logged: BUG-000112227 : Insights Online shows "Something went wrong" error when adding your own hosted feature layer to a workbook that uses a custom coordinate system Workaround: Use a non-custom, predefined coordinate system.

Hi Mimi, Sorry to hear about this issue you're encountering in Insights Online. I tested this out with your feature layer and noticed that the queries made under the hood to the feature service are hit or miss. I added the feature layer to 3 different cards, and received the error in one of the cards: The other 2 cards, of course work just fine. If we take a look at the network traffic in the browser's developer tools, you'll see that quite a few queries made to the feature service fail: Are you seeing the same behavior? Does it fail just sometimes, or does it always fail for you? Thanks, Nathan

Hi Pan gis, At this point I would recommend engaging with Tech Support so we can dig deeper in this. Aravind Sivasailam - Would you be able to connect with Pan and arrange this? Thanks, Nathan

Hi Francis, Sure, not a problem! Today, neither of those features are available. We will definitely consider them for future releases though. Thanks for your feedback! I would also strongly encourage you to post any other ideas you have about Insights to the Ideas site. We take these into consideration when making decisions for upcoming releases. Thanks,. Nathan

Hi Winston, Adding to Aravind's point... We do not currently support this. Supporting connections to analysis services databases in Insights is on our long-term road map, but not immediate. I would strongly encourage you to post your ideas and recommended enhancements to the Ideas site for Insights. We always appreciate feedback from our users and leverage the ideas posted here when making considerations for upcoming releases. Thanks, Nathan

Hi Winston McKenna, Great question! Currently, there is no way to perform SQL queries in Insights. However: 1. The filtering capability provides basic functionality for the time being. 2. We will be evolving our current filtering capabilities at both the dataset and card level as part of our 2018 road map. This will include increased flexibility in defining a custom where clause. What specific type of queries are you looking to perform? This will help us as we evolve the filtering experience in Insights. Thanks, Nathan

Hi CAIC_ADMIN, Yes! Insights will update automatically once updates are made to the data. You simply need to pan or zoom the map in the card for the update(s) to appear. The only exception to this (as I'm sure you know) is data that is collected offline. Insights will not show this data until those edits have been synced. Thanks, Nathan

Hi Pablo, Thanks for your question. Currently, Insights is limited to displaying ~50,000 features. This isn't a limitation of Insights, rather a limitation of the browser. However, it's important to note... Although we cannot always display all features, we do the analysis on all features. For example: Statistics - Such as the trend line, is done on the whole dataset although the scatter plot may not show all the points. Also worth noting... At the 2.2 release we introduced binning! So you will be able to see all your features aggregated. See below: Hope this helps! Nathan

Hi Pan gis, Glad to hear you're testing out Insights in ArcGIS Online! First off, we'll need to make sure you're working with data that's supported. In order to work with feature layers from ArcGIS Enterprise in Insights, you'll need to be at least at version 10.5.1. 10.2 was not certified against Insights, and therefore is not supported. The chart here in our doc is specific to Enterprise deployments, but applies to Insights Online as well. Insights Online is basically version 2.2 of Insights, as mentioned here. (Scroll down to the Multiple Version Table) Once your data comes from a supported version of ArcGIS Enterprise, then you'll want to retest and see if the behavior persists. Hope this helps! Nathan

Hi Crystal, A couple questions for you: 1. When you say 'feature class' are you referring to the feature layer added to your Insights Workbook? 2. When you say 'data frame' are you referring to the individual Cards in Insights? If so, this seems like it could potentially be an issue with the Cards in your Page being synced. Did you sync the cards' extents? If not, then I'm assuming you're working strictly with feature classes in the data frame of ArcGIS Desktop. If that is the case, then I would recommend posting your question in the appropriate forum. Let me know if you need any help doing that! Thanks, Nathan UPDATE: Question moved from Insights to ArcGIS Desktop.

Hi Andrew, In order to install Insights for ArcGIS, you first need a Base ArcGIS Enterprise Deployment. Per our Installation Prerequisites, the hardware requirements for Insights are dependent on those of ArcGIS Enterprise's components. See the individual system requirements for each of the components here. As for your second question.. On a single-machine deployment, you only need to run the setup once. In a distributed deployment of ArcGIS Enterprise, you'll need to have Insights installed on each Portal machine and each ArcGIS Server machine. When running the the setup program, it will detect whether Portal for ArcGIS or ArcGIS Server is installed on your machine, and then it will install the appropriate Insights feature. Hope this helps! Nathan
