Gosh, it's been a long time since I did this...but I generally have students add their names to items they create for the exact reason that you cite. So, for example, when they use an analysis tool to create buffers they all add their name of initials to the buffer layer result name so the feature layer names will be unique.

I am having this same problem. I am teaching an Intro to GIS course using ArcGIS Pro in the classroom for the first time. I do not get this error message when using the Explore tool to click on a feature on my home computer, but it is happening on my campus computer. This is going to screw up my demonstration in class tonight... I am using data from the Esripress book "Getting to Know ArcGIS Pro 2.6".

Hi Kate, I did not receive any help from Esri regarding this GeoNet post, but I can tell you that the student was eventually able to use Community Analyst. I had recommended that she clear the cache and cookies on her web browser and did not hear back from her after that recommendation. I just sent the student an email to see if it was the browser cleanup that made the difference. Allen

I have a student who is trying to start/login to Community Analyst Online (we also tried Business Analyst Online) on her laptop, She receives the error message list ed above (Critical service failed to initialize...). I have taught hundreds of students how to use these websites and I have never encountered this error message. Any ideas? Account? Browser? Operating system? Great. I'm trying to uninstall Pro so I can reinstall Pro using the "Everyone" setting but the Windows installer says that Pro is not currently installed. Yet, there it is. Looks like a call to Esri support is in order. This Indoors application had better be good...

I have administrative rights on the machine. There was no prompt to enter an admin password during the installation of Indoor. How do I change this "everyone" setting? Allen

I'm trying to install ArcGIS Indoors for Pro and the installation with an error message that states that "ArcGIS Indoors for Pro requires ArcGIS Pro 2.4 installed with the for everyone option". I have ArcGIS Pro 2.4 installed but I don't know what the "for everyone option" is and I can't find any reference to this option in the online help. What is the "for everyone option"? Thanks, Allen Risley GIS Analyst California State University San Marcos

I have a faculty member at my university who wants to have a gallery of her students' story maps that she can share with the public. It looks like I can create a group where the content can be shared and then a grouo-based app to share the content as a gallery. The question I have has to do with the group settings. I want to allow "Everyone" to view the group and want to allow only those who we approve to be granted membership. But what about the "Who can contribute content..." question? If I limit this to only the group owner and manager, can I (with site admin capabilities) add students' content to the group or do I need to grant the students group membership and then allow group members to share content to the group? Keep in mind that I want to create a public-facing gallery of student work (story maps). Thanks in advance, Allen RIsley GIS Specialist California State University San Marcos

Cheers Chris, Thanks for pointing out the Check Stories button - I ran it on my 130 story maps and I have some cleaning up to do! But the Microbrewery story map came up with no issues: There are two webpages referenced in the story map, but those are supposedly not checked. But could that be the problem?

Hi Dave, Thanks for letting me know this is STILL HAPPENING. I don't know why that happened for you. The story map is shared to "Public" and there are no issues found with any of the maps and images referenced in the story map. Section 3 (the one that triggered the login for you) contains a map that is displayed as part of a Main Stage Action, and two images - one that displays as you scroll to the section and one triggered by a Main Stage Action, both of which were uploaded to the ArcGIS cloud. Does anyone have any additional ideas? I have cleaned up all of the "issues" on this story map. -Allen

I have a Story Map Journal that I have shared to "Everyone" but it is still asking for logins when users attempt to access it: https://arcg.is/0ff5rO The story map contains two maps, both maps are shared publicly. Both maps contain layers that were created using Business Analyst Online and shared to ArcGIS Online. There are photos and two web pages referenced (a Tapestry description page and a giphy.com image). Security settings for our org should be set correctly: Any ideas? It's not good when the boss can't see the project you've been crowing about. Thanks in advace, Allen Risley Cal State University San Marcos

I have a student who has graduated and would like to transfer their AGOL content on our campus org account to a new (paid) personal account they have created. How do I do this? The student has moved all of the content to a single folder and I was preparing to transfer ownership to my admin account, but what do I do after that? Thanks in advance for your help. Hi Brandon, Thanks for the ideas, but I found a better way to do what I wanted. There is a sample in the Survey123 Connect app titled "Calculate Location from Choice List" that shows you how to do exactly what I wanted. I added a "Which campus?" question to my survey and put the lat/long values for the two locations in the "name" field on the choices tab, then added a concatenate function on the "Calculation" field on my geopoint survey question to pre-fill the geopoint so that the question starts at the correct location. Whew!

Is there a way to change or reset the "Home" geopoint location in a Survey123 Connect survey? I have a survey for a university department they are having the public use Survey123 to collect data at two different campuses. Up to now our geopoint question has been "homed" to campus #1, but users on campus #2 have complained about not being able to find their current location (apparently they can't hit crosshair button to center the map...). Is there a way to reset the home location of the geopoint question, or set up a second geopoint question with a different home location? I could insert a question that asks what campus they are on and then branch to a different geopoint question or reset the home location lat/long values, if this is possible. I have a Survey123 tool created using Survey123 Connect that I would like to have added to my university's campus smartphone app. The request has been denied because the web development team says that the Survey123 tool does not pass accessibility testing for the visually-impaired. I'm hoping you can help me resolve the two main issues that have come up: 1) Selection menus and drop-downs do not work with tabbing - Is there a format for select_one or select_multiple questions that can be activate using a Tab key, as a visually-impaired person would do if they were using screen-reader software? 2) Is there a way to add alt text to images used in Survey123 surveys? I have scoured the documentation and cannot find any reference to this. If I can't make these changes to Survey123 I will be forced to collect data using Qualtrics, which is a horrible alternative since it cannot collect (precise) geographic location.
