In SQL Server Management Studio SSMS, we run our store procedures nightly that take several horus to run. Integrated between SQL and ArcPy as integrated processes. .ArcPy 2.7 has worked for years. EXEC xp_cmdshell 'C:\Python27\ArcGISx6410.8\python.exe F:\CIA_Python\PROD\PythonScripts\VMS_OBS_COMBINE_LINES.py'; -- This ArcPy 3.6 which does not work with XPCmdShell because it throws licensing issues with or without ArcPro open. This box also has ArcGIS Enterprise installed. EXEC xp_cmdshell 'f:\Progra~1\ArcGIS\Pro\bin\Python\scripts\propy.bat N:\CIA_Python\PROD\PythonScripts\VMS_OBS_COMBINE_LINES.py' Tried to clone Python. That didn;t work, Tried from arcgis.gis import GIS gis = GIS("pro") def print_profile_info(gis): print("Successfully logged into '{}' via the '{}' user".format( gis.properties.portalHostname, gis.properties.user.username)) print_profile_info(gis)

Provide the ability to run integrated ArcPy 3.6 operations from database IDEs using tools such as XP_CmdShell. You can do this with ArcPy 2.7, can't do this with ArcPy 3.6.

This would be a great update. A couple of points. Map services and Feature services. The create map tool in the WebApp builder needs to be updated for overlapping polygons as well. Currently, a temporary, agreed clunky workaround, I keep a hidden layer that is a merge of all the feature classes and use that for the popups. In the ArcIMS days, there was a drill-down tool identify that would return all the polygons on the click event in a single list.

Allow a Python command to remove all locks in a FGDB, e.g., LockRemove_management_FeatureClass(FeatureClassName); LockRemove_management_ALL(FGDB Name). Okay, don't want to do that, how about a overwriteOutput True /OVERWRITE so that you can actually overwrite and update the data that is being used in a service. Yes, this would be powerful but most of us can already delete our databases tables in enterprise DBs by a simple delete. Closing all Arc desktop apps and having to shut down the ArcGIS Server service SERVICE, finding someone who had it open two months ago, and then waiting for them to get back from vacation is not the answer.

And allow for IDEs (Oracle, SQL Server Management Studio, etc.) to access license for ArcPy 3.x. You can do it in ArcPy 2.7, why not ArcPro. Doesn't matter if ArcPro Desktop is started or not.

I need to run ArcPy 3.6 from SQL Server's EXEC xp_cmdshell This always worked in Python 2.7. It is an integrated process so won't work to run it from like Windows Scheduler. When I attempt to run ArcPy 36, 'C:\Python3x\arcgispro-py3-clone\Python.exe F:\TEST\TEST.py' is says license is not initialized. I integrated this into the script and it connects to the license on my portal if run from CMD. Also tried single use license from SQL Server or just "Pro" This connects to license server at cmd line. from arcgis.gis import GIS gis=GIS(url="https://MyPortal/portal", username="MyUser", password="MyPass") import arcpy

Nicely done. I am looking for an iterator to turn on each data layer in an ArcPro document (that is based off of a complex view in SQL Server, export to PNG, and then go to the next layer and do the same thing.

Since ArcMap and ArcPro work in the background to bring in the full attribute table, why can't the symbology module access the data that is already loaded into desktop's attribute table? If using the attribute table is not possible, we should be able to set the following settings in ArcPro Options:: 1. Set the data Sample Size in Options. This would be a global change. 10,000 records as a default is a very small number. I usually set my sample size at 100,000,000 records. 2. Allow us to set the size of point data and if it has the halo. Halo does not work with larger datasets. At any significant extent, the data then all looks grey like the halo. 3. The default in symbology is to show 6 decimal places. This should also be in Options. Set this in legend properties: False normalization. That is if you have two different feature classes, and you want them to have the same scale, allow the user to put in the max value for the data. So for instance, if you have one dataset that has a max value of 200 tons of fish and an another dataset with 2000 tons of fish, we need to be able set to the 200 tons dataset to a scale of 2000 tons in the legend (knowing that the software looks at the max value and divides that by two, and then puts that as the number in the legend).

ArcGIS Enterprise is a huge product and InSights slipped through. I have to commend ESRI for getting InSights 3.0 out a head of schedule though. 3.0 works better and has more features than the 2.x product.

People had been asking ESRI to release the product, even in beta, so ESRI released it. 3.0 is working great on my Enterprise 10.6.1. I can get some work done and within a couple of weeks will be able to make them public.
