This subject has been discussed in many posts before but my intention is to discuss use cases and what kind of solutions has been developed. Integration of ArcGIS with a third party application. There seem to be four alternatives for "primary key" to set up a relation without creating relationship classes. OBJECTID, GLOBALID, GUID and an integer field. The least stable is OBJECTID. As it's pretty hard to preserve the values. And also it's not suggested in the technical documents. 1 The second option is GLOBALID which is suggested by Esri and seems to be most used. 2 However, there are some possibilities of change on GLOBALID values. 3 Besides, in an ArcGIS blog post, it's not recommended to use them as unique identifiers. 4 I know that this post is a bit old but, I couldn't find any newer information to replace it. GUID seems to be the strongest option as they never change in any data transfer scenario. Plus, this option is suggested in the same blog post for unique identifiers. What we need to do is create a structure of sequence-triggers to generate the values. This option is also suggested in Alternative to ObjectID as Primary Key for Related Tables by Vince Angelo. As he mentioned GUID's can cause performance issues on joins. So here comes the latest option. Creating an integer field. If I'm going to create sequences and triggers what GUID type will provide me rather than an integer type? 1: “No, it is not recommended to use ObjectIDs when joining a table in ArcMap.” https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000012462 2: " Developers can use them in relationships or in any application requiring globally unique identifiers." - http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/10.3/manage-data/geodatabases/arcgis-field-data-types.htm#GUID-97064FAE-B42E-4DC3-A5C9-9A6F12D053A8 3: https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000010889 4: "This should not be used for a Unique ID. These values can change if you have to reload the data at some point or if you drop the Global ID field and re-add it. " https://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2009/09/28/guids-as-ids/

Hello all, I'm trying some models to work as geoprocessing on ArcGIS Server, but having problems with returning results through REST. So I prepared a basic model only with Feature Class to Shapefile, just to find out how to get the result. It takes a test table from an enterprise geodatabase and converts it into a shapefile into the scratch folder. Model working well both on desktop and server. However, the result is empty. Yet I can find the result shapefile if I go to arcgisjobs folder. Also, if change the message level of geoprocessing service to "info", I can see the address of the file. As you can see in model "derived folder" is the model parameter as told in help document. But output folder is not %scratchworkspace%. When I write that it creates in scratch.gdb as featureclass. That's why I wrote %scratchFolder%. I also tried "Select Data" tool, but nothing changed. What am I suppose to do get the result of this process?

Hello Asrujit, Thank you for your response. I forgot to mention that SDE version I'm working on is 10.3.1. Besides all the tables were created and edited through ArcMap or applications built with ArcGIS API. However, I still had a problem with it.

Hello all, I'm writing a SQL on an Oracle database using "ST_Intersects" function. But I get an error which is not important anymore. Because I solved it with deleting some data. However, I would like to know if there is a validation function for geometry columns in st_geometry functions. Just like PostGIS's ST_IsValid

Hello Dan, Thank you for your response. I didn't want to convert it to script but just needed a log about the process. However adding my model into Arctoolbox solved it.

Wouldn't expect this to be so easy. I solved the problem. It was just that I had to at my model into the Arctoolbox and run in it. Instead of catalog window.

Hi all, I made a model and want to keep the results of the process. But don't know how. I know ArcMap keeps geoprocessing history. Explained here Viewing tool execution history—Help | ArcGIS Desktop. However, it seems like this option is just for Arctoolbox tools. It doesn't create any XML file for any models I made, but creates for any tool in Arctoolbox.

Hello everyone, I have two services, one of them has mapping capability only and the other one has feature access enabled. Let's call the first one X and the second one Y. Addresses are like; https://blabla.com/arcgis/rest/services/X/MapServer https://blabla.com/arcgis/rest/services/Y/FeatureServer X has multiple layers in it and one of them (a point type layer) complex labels. (With complex I mean it's joined with another table and the information in the labels coming from the join. Besides the background color also changing based on that information). Y has only a (polygon type) layer which is going to be edited by users as you can guess. I'm consuming those services in a web map. But the problem is Y overlapping the X's labels. I've tried adding feature layers of X one by one like https://blabla.com/arcgis/rest/services/X/MapServer/1 https://blabla.com/arcgis/rest/services/X/MapServer/2 But then it doesn't show the labels. To get the labels I have to add the MapServer address. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

Thank you, Adam I just want to make clear if did I've understood you right. My purpose is keeping passive machine updated automatically. I was planning to copy config-store and server directories from active to passive machine hourly. About config-store, I know config-store is holding server specific files like DNS names or machine names. I can change those names by a script before copying if it is enough. But you say that this is not going to work right?

Hello Adam, Thank you for your response, I actually read those documents already. The active-active scenario does not say anything about the license and we have doubts about keeping updated the passive one. What we're wondering is do we have to re-do all the work for the passive? Or is it going to work if I copy the folders to passive one?

Hello everyone, We have an 8 core ArcGIS Server Advanced License and want to have an high availability enviroment. We just one to keep the enviroment working whenever one of the servers goes offline. We can have two seperate machine for ArcGIS Server and one machine for Web addaptor. Multiple machine deployment scneario looks good, but we're not sure if this scenario works as active passive. So is this going to work? Or is there any documents how it does? Multiple machine deployment active active scenario is another alternative. However I guess we'll have to split license to two seperate machines. I also cound find any documents about license issue either. Single machine deployment active passive scenario is another alternative also. And this one has a huge disadvantege. Which is we don't know how to keep passive machine updated with the active one. Besides we would like to learn if the system will be updated when we copy the "config store" and "serverdirectioes" folders to passive machine hourly.

Hello Robert, Thank you so much for this widget. It helped me a lot. I'm just having a probem with bing maps just as Humza Akhtar did. Whenever I choose two bing maps, the second one is invisible all the time. So the opacity bar changes the opacity of the first basemap. I've set my portal to use Bing maps based on the post; How to install a Microsoft Bing Key for use with ArcGIS Online & ArcMap | Support Services Blog Do you have any idea what could cause the problem and how to solve it? Thanks in advance.

Hello Robert, In our environment, portal and our web app (generated by web app builder) run in intranet. So it needs to run without an internet connection. There are some files that need to be downloaded from internet. I copied urls of some of them here. Is there any defined way of replacing these urls with local ones. https://js.arcgis.com/3.16/init.js https://js.arcgis.com/3.16/dojo/resources/dojo.css https://js.arcgis.com/3.16/dijit/themes/claro/claro.css https://js.arcgis.com/3.16/esri/css/esri.css https://js.arcgis.com/3.16/dojox/layout/resources/ResizeHandle.css
