Getting the following error: Network Error (tcp_error) A communication error occurred: "" The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time. For assistance, contact your network support team. I'm using the web rest interface with an arcgis online hosted feature service. What I'm trying to do is actually wipe all features from the service and write them back again using a python script. So I'm using a where OBJECTID>-1 to delete them all. If I use a more specific selection, it seems to be able to delete them.

Right now I'm just working with ESRI example datasets. Tried the following: -uninstalling the att assistant add on -Re-downloaded the full package -Deleted any existing configuration files -Reinstalled add in -Opened a ArcMap with a new map, added generateId, dynamic value and the two layers that use nearest_feature_attribute -tried added a point to facility site points under 10 feet from a site address point -got the same error saying no features found

Open your attribute table and sort the values on shape_length from shortest to longest. Delete all Zero values if any and fix any issues with lengths less than 5. For road centerlines you really should clean up things less than 10. Also, turn snapping off it it is on. There's no 0 length roads, and only 3 less then 10m. Remember I've also tried this with the example datasets provided by ESRI and am getting the same issue (this would be points to points). I did try turning snapping off but got the same issue.

Had some more time to poke around at this today. I exported the fc's from SDE to a File Geodatabase to test to see if it was something in SDE and got an error saying feature not found(instead of the empty geometry error when it was in SDE). I verified that there was indeed a feature within the distance attribute by measuring. So tried taking the original files from the included geodatabase to test with. Guess what? Same error. I didn't modify the dynamic value table at all. There was on NEAREST_FEATURE_ATTRIBUTE rule in it. So added both those associated fc's and gave it a try. From the log file: Row Info Row Number 13 TableName: FacilitySitePoint FieldName: FULLADDR ValueInfo: SiteAddressPoint|FULLADDR|FULLADDR|150 ValueMethod: NEAREST_FEATURE_ATTRIBUTES On Create: 1 On Change: 1 Checking for Subtype Restriction Field Name: Full Address was found at index: 8 Trying NEAREST_FEATURE_ATTRIBUTES Looking for layer: SiteAddressPoint Site Address Points layer Found: SiteAddressPoint Checking Field Mapping Field Mapping verified Searching for Nearest Feature No Feature was found, default fields Finished: NEAREST_FEATURE_ATTRIBUTES AcrGIS 10.2.1 and Att Assistant 10.2.0.3

Just upgraded from 10.0 to 10.2. Worked fine in 10.0. Just pulling 2 attributes from a street feature class (from sde) and loading them into a civic point feature class (also sde). For whatever reason it's now giving an error saying cannot be performed on empty geometry. Clearly the geometry is not empty. Any clues?

Hi there. This may be a stupid question but figured I'd ask as it would make my life 1000x easier. I'm a GIS guy, turned mobile/web GIS developer. I do most of my work using objective C (iOS development) and Flex (web). Thus, I'm mostly working in an OSX environment. I have bootcamp with windows on my machine and arcgis etc installed there, but rarely need to switch over. The one exception happens to be when I need to do up GIS related python scripts. So, is it possible at all to develop these scripts from OSX or am I forced to switch over to windows to do this?

This doesn't answer your question, but ... if possible, you might want to use a scale bar instead of a 1:scale. This way it would be less confusing and would be correct on both your computer screen, a projected big screen and printed out. You're right that doesn't really answer my question - and I am using a scale bar as well. I just need to fill in the text based scale in a template that goes along with the map in addition to that. Either way, this is what I came up with for those curious. private function calcScale():Number { var lodsInfo:LOD = map.lods[map.level] as LOD; //get resolution ie: 1 pixel = x map units (m) where x is the resolution var resInches:Number = lodsInfo.resolution * 39.3701; //convert res from m to inches /* Alive pdf prints at 72 pixels per inch from the resolution we know that resInches now stores the number of inches on the ground for each pixel So multiplying resInches by 72 will give us the number of inches on the ground one inch on the page will repesent thus giving us the proper scale */ return Math.round(72 * resInches); }

We've had a question about one of our applications and the map printing functionality built into it as it relates to scale. The user was saying the scale is not accurate. I honestly had not given it much thought before hand. We're using ArcGIS server 10.0 and Alive PDF to do the printing. The application takes a page size as input. Alive PDF prints out at a pixel density of 72 dpi, so using those two pieces of information the pixel size of the printout can be determined. The map scale is obtained through map.scale and printed on the map as text. HOWEVER The user was comparing to the print out to their computer monitor which got me thinking. Monitors can vary widely in pixel density. For example - a maximized map on a 27 inch 1080p monitor will actually be a different (viewable) scale then a maximized map on a 1080p 23 inch monitor the pixels are physically a bigger size. This is assuming Flash Player does not have access to this monitor pixel density information. So my next jump was to the origin of the data, which was the map service. The scale is generated there, and in looking at the map service there's a DPI (96) for the cached map services and a resolution. I'm going forward now under the assumption that the display will not be spatially accurate. But I am wondering how I can use either the dpi or resolution to make sure that my map print outs have an accurate scale (or to determine an accurate scale even if it doesn't match what the user originally is seeing on the screen).

For those curious I figured out a solution. I weighted the TIMESTAMP rule higher so it was run first. I then made an EXPRESSION rule for the same field weighted lower so it ran second. Used the expression Left([Field_Name], 10) to take the first 10 (xx/xx/xxxx) characters and repopulate the field with the date minus the time string.

Hi there, trying to format the timestamp. From what I can gather I guess using the actual TIMESTAMP method in the attribute assistant for 10.0 means the date is unmodifiable. 10.1 seems to change that and allows you to provide a format string. So I've been trying to use the EXPRESSION method to generate a formatted date, however I can't seem to get it to take any form of the DateTime.NOW method. Any suggestions on how to make this autopopulate a esri date column with a simple date string of dd/mm/yyyy

Hi there, Trying to set up the attribute assistant to hopefully replace a custom built application but having some issues. ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 sp5, attribute assistant 2.5 I installed the attribute assistant add in and added the toolbar. The tool icon was red and would not turn on. So I assumed that this was likely due to not having any rules configured. So I went looking for the default DynamicValue table, which I could find no documentation as to where it should be located and found nothing. I tried creating a csv file by that name in the config directory with the loaded.config file and that didn`t seem to work. Currently the attirbute assistant toolbar is showing but I'm unable to turn it on or run any rules. Any suggestions on these basic setup steps?

This issue has been fixed in version 3.2: http://support.esri.com/en/bugs/nimbus/TklNMDg4NzE4 Thanks for that! Can you possible tell me if this applies to the glow filter in general or is specifically related to the infoWindows? We're experiencing this issue in several custom widgets which apply a glow filter to larger graphics.
