Over three years later and I don't see any workflows regarding Scanned Maps within the Image Management Guidebook. Are there any plans for it to be written? Thanks.

Can you confirm this is a bug at 10.1 QIP SP1? We cannot upgrade to 10.2 at this point due to security issues. I wish it were that easy.

Hi Keith, Sorry for the late reply - the new Esri notifications aren't doing a great job. Anyhow, we couldn't get it to work, so the idea was eventually scrapped. I also left that company a couple months afterward, so I have no idea if they ever got back to another attempt. I know we had issues with the data not loading properly because our AGS' Web Adaptor sat behind IIS basic authentication. Despite allowing editing to our map service, the IIS security still gave us issues. Good luck.

To bring this back up, warning number 24012, "Standalone table's data source is not registered with the server and data will be copied to the server," is also NOT returned via AnalyzeForMSD. I checked everywhere and couldn't find a bug, so it looks like ESRI missed this one as well. I know it's different than AnalyzeForSD, but we're utilizing the REST Admin API at 10.1, which only supports MSD.

I was able to figure it out. It turns out that the Feature Service isn't visible if your GIS Server connection is created with an admin account. If I create the GIS Server connection in ArcCatalog without a specified user, the Feature Service as well as the Map Service appear. I'm not sure why, but that did the trick!

Hi David, Thanks for getting back to me. Currently, the AGS is configured to utilize Windows Active Directory, so we log in to AGS Manager with our normal windows credentials. Since reading your message, I created a connection and published a new feature service via the AGS primary site admin account. Unfortunately, I still cannot see the service from either my windows user, nor the AGS primary site admin account. Any ideas? Andrew

I set up a feature service on one of our internal AGS machines. I registered my Oracle read/write database connection with the server (non-managed), and published it successfully. However, the Feature Service does not appear in ArcMap or ArcCatalog when I connect to that AGS box. I am, however, able to see it via the REST endpoint. Through REST, I am able to add it to an ArcGIS.com map and consume those features. Why isn't my feature service appearing in ArcMap or ArcCatalog along with the other map services? Note, the Map Service does appear, just not the Feature Service. Thx

Hi Andrew, Just wondering if you were able to find a solution to this. I'm thinking that arcpy doesn't have this sort of functionality, but I hope I'm wrong! -Philip Hi Philip, I don't believe the functionality is there... I actually got sidetracked from that project and haven't been able to go back. Sorry I'm unable to help ya, but I believe another route is necessary. Cheers, Andrew

I hope this is the correct forum... I have a Python script that I'm running as a tool within a toolbox. As a parameter, I require the user to pick a .sde file from the file system. Is there a way for me to specify the folder that the user browses to look in? For example, if I have a folder with .sde files located at c:\SDE, when the user goes to select the .sde file, I want that folder to be predefined so it appears in the file browser. Is it possible to define that file path? I tried setting it as the "default" setting, but that only defines the parameter, it doesn't open that folder path within the browser. Thanks, Andrew

Thanks for this... it helped the print task deliver the PDF/JPEG/PNG to the client. Our GPPrintTask tries to utilize the external URL to obtain the layers, but the GPPrintTask cannot use the external URL as it sits on the internal URL. Do you know how to force the GPPrintTask to utilize the internal URL to retrieve the layers for printing? Thx.

yes, I've tried to create a service def file and create the map service through Manager. Same error messages. I'm connecting to a SQL Server database which is registered with ArcGIS Server - and the connection is validated. I've also tried copying the data to the server, same error messages. I'm all out of ideas. I hope ESRI's support is able to help solve your issue. Best of luck.

What about the map that you're trying to publish... are you certain that you're able to publish it? Have you tried to create a service definition file and create the service via the manager webpage? I found out that ArcGIS Server does not support personal geodatabases. I'm assuming file gdb still work. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/Making_your_data_accessible_to_ArcGIS_Server/01540000039r000000/ Data registered? Good luck. Andrew

Yes, we use secure services with SSL enabled. I'm connecting using the Primary Site Admin account, so I know it has permission to publish. But I will double check to make sure the ArcGIS Server services account has write permission to all the necessary folders. I think you are on the right track about "allowed admin access by IP" located here: https://servername:6443/arcgis/admin/security/config/update I've seen another forum where this was the fix to publishing problems. We don't have fixed IPs on our PCs, but I will investigate what can be done. I connect via the "GIS Administrator" account, which was set up upon installation. Same one we use on the ArcGIS Server Manager login page. Also, if your "allowed admin access by IP" field is populated, try removing any IPs listed temporarily. I would assume an empty field would "allow all" which would be useful if you have dynamic IPs. Worth attempting.

abrown31, Did you find the answer to which outboard ports does ArcGIS Desktop use to contact ArcGIS Server? We are in a similar situation needing to cross multiple networks (DMZs). We can connect to ArcGIS Server using ArcGIS Desktop, but cannot publish to it. Error message says "unable to establish connection to the server." My PC cannot ping the ArcGIS Server. Stephanie, If you're able to view services but not publish, it sounds like a write permission issue. I never found which ports were used to publish services. But this could be more than a port issue. I know 6080 is unsecured and 6443 is secured. Do you have SSL enabled? Does the user you're attempting to connect with have proper privileges set up on the server? I know it has to be in a certain role in order to create/publish services. Also, when we set up security on our ArcGIS Server, we only allowed administrative access from one IP, my colleague, since, at the time, was the only one with credentials. Recently, when I received admin access on the server, I was unable to connect since my IP wasn't on that list. I always received Server 403, access denied. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/server-admin-api/securityConfig.html If the last bullet, Allowed Admin Access IPs, contains an IP. Add your machine to the list. Not sure if this will help you or not, but it did for me. Good luck. Andrew

Nope, only a few. At first, there were 3 points and 1 polygon. Currently, there are 5 points and 2 polygons. I built a map to attempt to set up our production server for mobile data collection. We have to disable security to allow editing, so I'll get back to you tomorrow when I'm trying again.
