Hi All, Is there a way to store UTF-8 texts (e.g. Arabic texts) in XML Workspace Document so it can be imported correctly to a Feature Class? I am storing Arabic attributes for some fields in XML document but it giving me an error that these chars are illegal when trying to import to a feature class. This is an example for a attributes containig Arabic text in my xml document: ..................................... ............... <Value xsi:type='xs:string'> 2 </Value> <Value xsi:type='xs:string'> 8 </Value> <Value xsi:type='xs:string'> Ù?اÙ?Ù?جد </Value> <Value xsi:type='xs:string'> 50% </Value> <Value xsi:type='xs:string'> 3 </Value> <Value xsi:type='xs:string'> 2 </Value> <Value xsi:type='xs:string'> 2 </Value> <Value xsi:type='xs:string'> داخÙ? ØدÙ?د اÙ?Ù?طعة </Value> <Value xsi:type='xs:string'> اÙ?باÙ?Ù?عة خارج اÙ?ØدÙ?د </Value> ...................................... ...................................... Thanks a lot

Personally I would convert the text files to dBase or better still a GeoDatabase Table as then your data is in a Table which will make joining easier. Thanks Hornbydd for reply. Yes you are right but I asked to join text files to FC only because we want to build an application to batch join text files that we are having to their related Feature classes. Yes another way might be build a routine to convert these text files to Dbase format and then batch joining them to their related feature classes. It will be good if someone can assist us in applying the later concept 🙂

Hi All, Is there any way using Arcobjects where I can join a text file to a feature class using a common id filed so all the attributes on the text file are copied to their corresponding fields on the Feature Class? I will highly appreciate if any code example can be provided. We are getting data from different sources and some of these data are in text file format which we need to batch copy to their corresponding feature classes. Thanks a lot AlHinai

Hi Dears, I am having a XML file which I want to import to PGDB format using the "Import XML Workspace Document" function in ArcCatalgo. But the importing function is producing the error "Import xml data failed, FDO error: -2147186428 [XML parse error: Illegal xml character.....". The xml file is attached. This file is containing the data for two polygons which some of their attributes are in Arabic text and this what I believe is causing the error. However, when I opened the xml file in Visual Studio and just save it without changing anything, the file could imported in ArcCatalog with no errors. Is there anything which I can add to or modify in my xml file so it can be imported successfully? I am generating this xml from AutoCAD drawing using a custom built extension in AutoCAD. I highly appreciate any help on this issue. Thanks a lot

Hi All, I have created a model to batch extracting a particular DWG polyline layer to corresponding feature classes. I am getting the resultant polyline feature classes as PolylineZ. How can I modify my model to output feature classes of type Polyline instead of PolylineZ? I tried to disable the Z Values from the Environment Settings but I am getting the following error: ERROR 999999: Error executing function. Geometry cannot have Z values. Failed to execute (Select). A snapshot from my model is attached. Any help for solving this will be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot Asim

I used the ESRI .Net code for importing a dataset from XML document which is available at: http://help.arcgis.com/en/sdk/10.0/arcobjects_net/conceptualhelp/index.html#//000100000mq5000000 I added a form with a button control on it and added the importing code on it with defining the paths for my xml doucment and my file geodatabase. But I got the following error in my Form1.Designer.vb: Cannot embed interop type 'ESRI.ArcGIS.GeoDatabaseDistributed.IFeatureProgress_Event' because the source interface 'ESRI.ArcGIS.Geodatabase.IFeatureProgress' referenced by its ComEventInterfaceAttribute cannot be found. I highly appreciate any help to solve this error. Thanks Asim

I will be quite glad if you can please check the attached licenseInitilizer file (where I am getting the error) and guide me where to add the code for binding the product. Thanks a lot Asim
