We just noticed that none of our story maps on ArcGIS Online are working for external users. Everything is shared publicly, but we keep getting the following error messages when trying to open them when not on our internal internet connection: "Sorry, Map Tour loading failed" Here is a link to one of our apps that is hosted on ArcGIS Online: http://citywindsor.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/index.html?appid=3d41b273df6e4172acee0a5e53a9ee7f Did something change recently with ArcGIS Online that would cause this site to stop working? Is anyone else having issues with their story maps? Thanks, Allison

How do you add this script to the Parks Finder or Government Services App when you're customizing them?

We would like to make the navigation toolbar have a 'zoom to extent' button. Currently, the apps that we've downloaded (Parks Finder, My Government Services) only have a zoom in and zoom out button. We would like the user to be able to click a button on the navigation toolbar to go 'home'. Where in the config files for either of these apps is the navigation bar specified? Can it be as easy as just turning this feature on? In the story telling maps (arcgis online), they have a little house button at the top of the plus/minus that allows the user to go back to the original extent. We would like to implement that in these two local government apps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Craig, Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but no button appeared in my app. Maybe I'm just confused about how to add a function and a button to my map. Can you point me to any resources out there to help a beginner out? I can't really find any out of the box apps that ESRI has supplied for the javascript API that have a "home" button. They just have zoom in and zoom out but the user can never get back to the initial extent. Being able to change the navigation settings would be very helpful. We are trying to set this app up locally: http://localgovtemplates2.esri.com/mygovernmentservices/ (source: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=4dd603a16e794b59968cf6479f709017) Any help would be appreciated.

Lindsay: We are in Canada. We changed the extent of the project to be our local area. Mark: We tried replacing the URL with the TA_Address_NA_10 locator that you suggested and we still aren't getting results. We looked at the field list at the URL (http://tasks.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Locators/TA_Address_NA_10/GeocodeServer) and made some changes to the config file but still no luck (we changed the LocatorFieldValues items below; in the original config file they were listed as "USA.StreetName", "USA.PointAddress", "USA.StreetAddress"). This is the locator section (currently) in our config file but it doesn't bring us back any results: // ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ // ADDRESS SEARCH SETTINGS // ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ // Set Locator service URL. LocatorSettings: { LocatorMarkupSymbolPath: "images/RedPushpin.png", // Set pushpin image path. MarkupSymbolSize: { width: 25, height: 25 }, Locators: [{ DisplayText: "Search Address", DefaultValue: "1 Riverside Dr W, Windsor, ON", // Set default address to search. LocatorParamaters: ["SingleLine"], // Set Locator fields (fields to be used for searching). LocatorURL: "http://tasks.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Locators/TA_Address_NA_10/GeocodeServer", CandidateFields: "Loc_name, Score, Match_addr", DisplayField: "${Match_addr}", AddressMatchScore: 20, LocatorFieldName: 'Loc_name', LocatorFieldValues: ["House", "StreetName", "City", "Province"] }] }, Is there anywhere else that we need to make changes? Did we change the LocatorFieldValues incorrectly? Any help woudl be greatly appreciated. We don't want to publish our own locators until we can get this to work so that we can test the app locally.

We recently downloaded and published the My Government Services 10.1. We are in the process of replacing the Naperville data with our own. When we try to find an address in our community, no results are returned. We can't seem to return any results outside of Naperville. How do you go about changing the address locator to something else? The config file says that the app is pointing to: http://geocode.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services/World/GeocodeServer but it doesn't want to return any results. Does the sample app from Naperville have its own locator that uses that Geocoding service? How can it be opened up to accept any address in North America? Thanks, Allison

We are trying to add a 'full extent' or 'back to initial extent' button to our Parks Finder app. Ideally, we would like to see it above or below the zoom slider bar (maybe as a house icon?). The way that it's set up in the flex viewers is perfect. Does anyone know how to mimic this in Javascript? (attached is the picture from one of the flex apps) Please help! Allison

I found this article: http://support.esri.com/en/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/40862 Followed the steps and the app works in Chrome (YAY!!!) but it doesn't work in IE (BOO...). So now I can get the result by park name, or activity but only in Chrome (HOORAY!). Anyone know how to get it to work in IE? The info windows don't work and when you search on activity nothing is returned. Basically we keep getting: 'infoActivity[...].SearchKey' is null or not an object

Hi Mark, I followed your steps. When I stepped through the debugger: layerID: Array[1] 0:0, length: 1 searchfields: Array [1] 0: FacilitySitePoint.NAME Searchtext: Ypres When I go to the services directory and add these to the Find task, it says "No Results Found" I used an MSD that was published for all of these tasks. I tried something different: I published the MXD directly. When I do the find task in the services directory, using the values above, I actually get the expected result. Problem is, when I use the map service published from the MXD, the application doesn't work. When I search on the name of a park, or an activity, I get the message: 'feature.attributes[...]' is null or not an object Could the issue be the difference between an MSD and an MXD? If that's the case, how can I get the MXD to work in my application since it is the only way to get the results? Thanks again for all of your help, Allison

Mike: our site is private and on our intranet. Mark: Thanks for the advice! I'll try to get that tested ASAP but unfortunately I only work at that position on Tuesdays. Hopefully I can sneak out and get that tested sometime today or tomorrow so that this can be figured out!

Hi Mike, Thanks for the response. I plugged the site into Chrome and this is what I found when I searched by park name. Searching by park activity brings back the results without any issues.
