Hi, My map is on spatial ref 1234 and my graphics are on 5678. How do I plot the graphics correctly on the map? They show on a different plane right now. Does esri automatically convert? Here's my pseudo-code: create map(spacial ref 1234); create graphic(spatial ref 5678); add graphic to map; 😞 Thanks!

Thanks! That can be very helpful! I'll look into it. A related question: how are the results sorted if I want to order by some field and the resultset is larger than 1000 records? Does the server *first* sorts all records, then returns me the first chunk of 1000 records? Or, does it first grab some 1000 records and *then* sorts them? Thanks!

Hi, Is there a way to determine the time when a record was last modified/created through a query? Thanks.

That is actually my question: how do I query for *everything*? Obviously I need to call the REST service multiple times but how do I do incremental queries? Thanks.

Hi, The GIS server can be configured to limited the number of returned results in a REST query call (max is apparently 2000 records). With this limitation in place, how do you query for all the records? Any ideas on what would be the best practice? Thanks!

We have used the Sample JavaScript Viewer as template for our work and now upgrading to v2.8 is going to be painful, especially that I have no idea what needs to change.

But like I mentioned, typing the url+token in the browser authenticates with no issues. If the token was expired I wouldn't be able to open up the url in the browser. Btw I'm using the JavaScript API v1.2 if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Hi, I have a secure Map Server that I can access by typing its url and token in the address bar of my browser: http://serverurl?token=token_value. However, when I call a QueryTask, I get an "Invalid Token" error: {"code":498,"message":"Invalid token","details":[]} Here's how I construct and run the QueryTask: var url = "http://serverurl?token=token_value";
var task = new esri.tasks.QueryTask(url);
var q = new esri.tasks.Query();
// set query parameters ....
task.execute(q, callbackHandler);
Can someone point out to me the possible cause for this error?

Right, sorry if it wasn't clear. The web application is being protected by IIS. What kind of work do I need to do to get this working? Thanks again. This is very helpful.

I have read the help doc, but is the Token based authentication the way to deal with IIS security? This is the doc: http://resources.esri.com/help/9.3/arcgisserver/apis/javascript/arcgis/help/jshelp_start.htm#jshelp/ags_security.htm When I go to the /rest/services directory of the server I don??t see any links for getting the token. Thanks!

Hi, There's a password protected Map Server running IIS that I want to access via REST services, but I don't know how to go about doing the authentication. I keep getting the following message: {"code":499,"message":"Unauthorized access","details":[]} I thought maybe I'd be prompted for user/pass but that's not happening. I don't believe I can send the user/pass as part of the REST request itself either, so I'm somewhat lost at this point. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have a point with lat/long coordinates (spatial ref 4326) that I want to display on my map. This map has a spatial reference of X. If I just simply add the point graphic to the map will it show up correctly even though its coordinates are lat/longs? i.e doesn't the point need to be projected to spatial reference X first before being plotted on the map? The actual problem is this: the point plots correctly on the sample ESRI world map (spatial ref 4326 on WGS84) but won't plot correctly on my custom map (spatial ref X). I'm on API v1.2. Thanks!

If I have a Graphic or a Geometry object with spatial ref X, is there a way to project its coordinates to spatial ref Y? Thanks. EDIT: i thought i could use the GeometryService method "project" for this but it's not doing the projection for some reason.
