I will try using different paper and changing the quality of the settings to see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the suggestion.

And yes, I made screen shots and printed them out to compare. But still haven't figured out how to get that color hue back.

How do I recreate map colors that printed out (circa 2011) in different shades then what I am seeing now in ArcMap (version 10.5)? The older map print outs were exported as jpgs in ArcMap in 2011, and the colors are lighter and brighter than what I currently see on my computer monitor in ArcMap and my current print outs on the office's copy machine. The RGB and HSV values for these colors appear to be the same as what was used in the legacy maps. Anyone had a similar experience with color shifts like this? I would be very grateful any suggestions on how to recreate colors. Thanks, Anne Wynn Geological Survey of Alabama Tuscaloosa, AL

I need to find the distance (from sampling points on a stream network) downstream to the mouth of a watershed using NHD flowlines and/or a DEM. I do not know how to use code. Thanks for any help on this!

Thanks for providing this other option, Chris. I had thought about using a geometric network, but was having difficulties in setting one up. Best, Anne

After running the Flow Length tool, I ran the Stream Order tool, and then used the output from the Stream Order tool for the Stream to Feature tool. Should I have, perhaps, run the Stream Link tool, then the Stream Order tool, and then the Stream to Feature tool? Would that help structure the stream data further and allow me to find the longest flow path?..

Hi Chris, I had initially thought of that, but my watershed area 55 sq. miles. There are 50519 stream segments in the attribute table. Should I parse it out by grid_code value first?

How do you find the longest flow path with the Flow Length tool in Spatial Analyst's Hydrology Toolbox? In the ArcGIS Help, it states "A primary use of the Flow Length tool is to calculate the length of the longest flow path within a given basin". How? I know that Arc Hydro has a tool that does this, and I have used it before - but I was wondering if it is possible to find the longest flow path with the output from the Flow Length tool without using the ArcHydro tool. Thanks for any insight you can provide! A. Wynn

Good point, Dan! Roads with no outlet would need to be counted twice, since the bicyclist would have to go back the way they came in. Hmmm......... Should I create a network dataset from my road layer and create a route, using my grid as a polygon barrier in the route? I am just learning how to use network analysis tools - forgive me!

That is a great idea!! I think one network problem for cyclists would be contending with busy intersections with heavy traffic flow. And yes, I am trying to determine how long it would take to physically maneuver through the street network in each grid cell. We want to just focus on each grid cell as a separate unit.

The file I have is a tiger line street file, as is. It has street type listed in the attribute table. Would it help if I add a field for mph to the attribute table? But since this is for cyclists instead of cars, would mph be helpful to add to the attribute table?
