I would also love some ideas or an ESRI tutorial on the best way to handle multi floor situations. We have a few in Stanislaus County and I expect to see far more in time.

We do have a Map_Page we use for our Map Series. Unfortunately, I do not have a complete table with my retired parcels. I would need to establish that data. We have at least a dozen pages that I know of that a the highest parcel is no longer active. What's worse is some of those highest parcel numbers are not even in our historical because they were pre-Fabric. I would need to verify the highest parcel number for each page (we have around 4,000 pages) and make sure at a minimum we add any historical parcels where the historical parcel number is higher than the rest of the page. At that point despite the highest active parcel being 001-001-065, the expression would know the actual next parcel is 001-001-067 based on the historical values. Once I have that data and it can search both historical and active I can see myself using this tool with glee. Thanks Amir!

I'm assuming parcel code for you is the equivalent of an assessment parcel number (APN) to Stanislaus County. For us I usually take a look at the largest APN on the page for example 075-070-052. I then go to our Assessment database where all the details about a parcel exist and search and see if a 075-070-053 is an unused number. If no results are returned I know its a number I can use. On a very rare occasion I will get a result. In those cases I will just keep incrementing up one more parcel number until I find an open one for that page. That is extremely rare for us.

In order to fully realize that vision did you have to have all your linework accurate? Or perhaps you have some warning about the distances notated may not be accurate? If I was to use labeling for the entire County around 80% of distances would be displaying incorrectly. We have a lot of lines considered approximate as well and we end the distance with the ± symbology on our maps.

I tried searching other areas of the Community but the issues are specifically involving the labeling of the Fabric and making assessment maps (or parcel maps). I'm hoping since Assessors offices are probably the biggest consumers of the Fabric I can get some advice from those in the same trenches as me. How are other jurisdictions labeling/annotating assessment maps using Pro? Currently my County is utilizing the original Parcel Fabric in ArcMap. About 20% of our data is COGO quality the rest is vectored. We have been unable to upgrade to the current Fabric because of this single issue. We can’t quickly annotate our parcel lines and have found utilizing labeling alone to be insufficient in creating the level of cartography expected with our maps. Reasons we can't just use labeling has everything to do with placement. Specifically when text won't fit and needs arrows to guide the user of said maps. Quick breakdown of our map creation process in ArcMap. We draw parcels for a particular assessment page, select just those tax parcels that will be on the Assessment page, auto label per desired scale, select newly created labels, copy and paste them into an existing annotation layer of that scale, finally make minor modifications to the new copied annotations as needed. I would guess labeling is able to handle about 90% or more of all line labeling to our satisfaction. Add various other annotations to the page (apn, north arrow, revision notes etc). All annotations are tied to the specific page in the map series they are associated with using the query ability. Page is complete and exported out. We wanted to continue with this approach, it was quick, easy, consistent and the pages are easy to read, but I can't figure out how to have a similar process in Pro. Once a subdivision is drawn in Pro I can label the parcel lines but I can not copy and paste them into an annotation layer. I seem to only have the option of using "Convert Labels to Annotation". That tool works great except it will create a whole new annotation layer instead of allow me to add it directly to my existing annotation layer for that scale. Having almost 5000 maps I don’t foresee maintaining 5000 separate annotation layers being much fun. If I run Append Annotation Feature Classes to combine these extra layers I now create a whole new Annotation layer. Make matters worse that process took an unexpectedly long time. Far too long to be part of our editing workflow. I've spent a good week of my time fiddling with Pro to solve this problem. Now I’m sitting here thinking there HAS to be some other way that is just as quick in Pro as it was in ArcMap but I’m just too dense to figure out. There has to be another path to create the same level of quality maps without it taking 10 times as long to complete. I'm really hoping that someone in this community has found the magic way to handle a situation like this.

@JeremyWright It's been a while but I used Threshold with a resolution of 600 dpi I believe. Soon after I posted this I had to change all my text to black and all my lines to black in order to accommodate the 8bit grayscale option and still export my maps from Pro.

It was in reply to the video you showed of simplifying the entering in of multiple lines with the same bearing and distance. Which was a good reminder of that features capability. In ArcMap fabric you could just type the line beginning and hit enter a couple of times and it would copy the previous line bearing and distance and then build the line from the point indicated. Repeat the same thing for the next line, point number plus enter enter enter. I can build an entire subdivision with maybe a couple of clicks of a mouse and the rest by utilizing the keyboard/10key. As I try to practice Pro Fabric I'm noticing I'm relying more on the mouse. I'm in no ways proficient in Pro Fabric yet so can't gauge which method is faster. In my noob state everything in Pro Fabric feels like its taking forever and involving a lot of mouse usage.

That is helpful! However, I do miss the days when I didn't have to touch the mouse so much.

We are starting the planning phase of converting our ArcMap Parcel Fabric over to the Pro Parcel Fabric. Does anyone know if ESRI has a "things to do/consider checklist" or one that they created that they utilized to help guide all the small details? I'm thinking along the lines of tasks like adding RecordTypes to the domain, clean up tasks prior to conversion, choosing which feature classes will exist, choosing which feature classes will be administrative boundaries etc

I've been practicing in the new Parcel Fabric and stumbled on something a tad confusing. Do the records just pile on top of each other instead of the most recent showing? Example: You have the record that creates the original parcel, then a road take occurs and then a parcel map. The original area now has three records stacked on each other. What is the best practice here? Am I supposed to clip the records? Can I retire records no longer current so only the current one displays?

I'm not sure why this never had a response. I would personally utilize the Parcel Fabric but if thats not something you know I would use the traverse tool, Pick an editable polygon layer as the template (if you dont have a "junk" polygon layer you may want to make one. I used to use one all the time when playing with shapes) and then enter all the bearings and distances I know of. The last line should be the unknown. Just hit Finish and viola you have a polygon with the final line estimated by GIS. You can then look at your table and view the approx square feet there. Is that what you were hoping for?

Maybe I've missed it but I have not found any good videos demonstrating the process of a new subdivision in arcgis pro. I have figure out how to traverse a single lot but can't seem to figure out how to traverse an entire subdivision.

I've never had your particular error but it's worth a shot. When I have weird things happening with curves I often have to go into my historicals and delete weird historical parcels unintentionally created or historical parcels that have curve errors. Most importantly you need to make sure you can see ALL historicals. Not all historicals show up normally. Go to your historicals Definition Query and change it to just SystemEndDate IS NOT NULL Once you do that make sure there are no historicals underneath where you are working. I have found weird historicals and sometimes historicals with serious errors will screw up my curves. Once I delete them my curves again function properly.
