Alright, that seemed to work pretty well. I have attached two pdf files with screenshots of some of the issues I have been having. Please let me know if you have questions for me, I will try to respond fairly rapidly. Thank you to anyone who thinks they might be able to help!!

I have two NAIP satellite images that I have been working with in ArcMap. They are provided with three bands (R-G-B) and I have clipped them, converted them to ASCII and imported them into IDRISI as an IDRISI raster. I have had some issues with them once they are in IDRISI, specifically not being able to get a good color composite image from the three bands and difficulties getting a good classification. Has anyone had any experience with this type of thing when working from ArcMap into IDRISI? IDRISI has a forum but it is a ghost town and I never get any replies. This is for my masters thesis project and I am getting desperate! I will try and attach some images in another post but I haven't had much luck with that so forgive me if there are none following this.

Hi Joshua, You can accomplish this using the Reclassify tool in Spatial or 3D Analyst toolbox. Open the tool, select your DEM for the input, and then click 'Classify'. Set the classes to 3 and click OK. Specify one of the 'Old Values' range to your desired elevation range that you want the polygon to be. For example, if your DEM has values from 1.5 - 58.7, and you're interested in values 20-30, then you should specify the Old Values to be in ranges: 0 - 19.9 20.0 - 30.0 30.1 - 58.7 The new values would default to 1, 2, and 3. After your new raster is created, you can open the attribute table and select Values = 2. Next run the Raster to Polygon tool on the selection and you will have your new polygon. Thank you for your reply! I figured it our doing the same thing and I also learned that there is a big difference between the Reclassify and Reclass tools as well.

I need to be able to convert an elevation range in a DEM into a polygon and I am having a heck of a time figuring out how to use the reclass tool. I am not sure how to create the remap table! Is anyone know of how to make this happen?

I am trying to clip a raster image band to a study area polygon but the result does not match the original. This is important because I am then exporting the results into IDRISI (by the way, comment here if you know of a good export technique) for a detailed change analysis. Does anyone know of a reason this could be happening? There was a thread earlier on how to clip here that discussed clipping techniques. Does anyone know of a technique that will provide results better matching the original.
