I may be mistaken, but this is not possible at this time in Enterprise Portal 10.6, and my own testing confirms it. See the bottom of this link: Create hosted feature layer views—Portal for ArcGIS | ArcGIS Enterprise . "Synchronization is not supported on hosted feature layer views at this time."

Is this something that is going to be implemented in Server Enterprise? It's something I could really use right now. It's been literally several years now I've been waiting for the capabilities that the ArcGIS API for Python has.

I'm trying to publish a geoprocessing tool from Pro using a python script and the ArcGIS API for Python. The script is very simple and works well from Pro, but it will not publish to either of my Server sites, one which is hosted. Is it not possible to publish using this new API to Server? Can it only be used from the local workstation python interface and/or Pro? Here is my script: from arcgis.gis import GIS
import shutil, os, arcpy
newPolyName = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(0) # Layer name
featureType = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(1) # Feature type: Point, Line or Polygon
userName = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(2) # User login
pword = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(3) # User password
gis = GIS(r"https://gis.cdatribe-nsn.gov/arcgisportal", userName, pword)
newShapeFileName = r"\\gis-bj\E\Data\AutoPublishUTMLayer\OutputShapefile" + chr(92) + newPolyName + ".shp"
print(r'copy \\gis-bj\E\Data\AutoPublishUTMLayer\Empty' + featureType + r'UTM.* \\gis-bj\E\Data\AutoPublishUTMLayer\OutputShapefile' + chr(92) + newPolyName + '.*')
os.system(r'copy \\gis-bj\E\Data\AutoPublishUTMLayer\Empty' + featureType + r'UTM.* \\gis-bj\E\Data\AutoPublishUTMLayer\OutputShapefile' + chr(92) + newPolyName + '.*')
shutil.make_archive(r"\\gis-bj\E\Data\AutoPublishUTMLayer" + chr(92) + newPolyName, 'zip', r"\\gis-bj\E\Data\AutoPublishUTMLayer\OutputShapefile")
data = r"\\gis-bj\E\Data\AutoPublishUTMLayer" + chr(92) + newPolyName + ".zip"
print(data)
shpfile = gis.content.add({}, data)
published_service = shpfile.publish({"name": newPolyName,"targetSR":{"wkid":26911}})
os.system(r'del /q \\gis-bj\E\Data\AutoPublishUTMLayer\OutputShapefile\*.*')
os.system(r'del /q \\gis-bj\E\Data\AutoPublishUTMLayer\*.zip')

How about Collector for Windows Mobile: that would breath some new life into millions of older devices.

Some organizations do not allow any of their data to be hosted in the cloud. While ArcGIS online can use services from on-premis servers, any data sent to ArcGIS Online is placed into ESRI's hosted cloud servers. It would be great if, like Portal for ArcGIS, you could designate an on-premis Data Store for ArcGIS as the hosted data store.

Fields in editable feature service tables in Portal maps and apps can be calculated, but there is no way to calculate area or length to, for instance, an acres field because there is no access to the shape field in the attributes.

We have been using it at the Coeur d'Alene Tribe for nearly a year. It's not that difficult to set up and we preferred it because it allowed us to have it on our servers where we control everything. Security has been somewhat difficult to get working for secured ArcGIS Server services correctly to the outside, but it works flawlessly inside our network.

Thanks, Harley for the info. The silent install did not work, so I ended up following your manual install procedure, which did work. Thanks again.

No luck on the clean install. It still goes to the maintenance screen on the second attempted install of the Web Adaptor.

The ArcGIS Server was an upgrade from 10.1, but the Web Adaptor 10.2 was a fresh install. Since this is just a test-bed server, I think I'll blow everything off it and start from scratch and see if that clears it up. Thanks.

When you start the installation, the initial welcoming screen comes up briefly and then it goes to the Program Maintenance screen (see attached image). It never gets to the place in the wizard where it asks for the name of the web adaptor installation.

Since there is no forum for Server 10.2 yet, I'll post this here: I've installed the Web Adaptor 10.2 for IIS on my web server and now I want to install it again for a second access point, as the installation instructions say I can (http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/install-guides/arcgis-server-web-adaptor-iis/10.2/index.html#/Installing_multiple_ArcGIS_Web_Adaptors/01nz0000000w000000/). However, when I try to install it a second time, it just brings up the dialog asking me whether I want to modify, repair or uninstall the software. It won't let me install it a second time. Web server is running on Windows 2012 R2 Preview. A bug or is this just Windows causing problems?
