Hi James, ArcLogistics 9.3 was retired at the end of 2012 and ArcLogistics 10 is scheduled to be retired on Dec. 31st, 2013. There is no direct replacement for the product but there are some options for larger organizations who want to build and host their own web services. If you'd like, I can put you in touch with a product manager.

Hi Jay, I think you'd have a better chance getting an answer in the ArcGIS Mobile forum I'd move it myself but I don't have permissions.

No, ArcLogistics VRP solver will give the best answer based on the constraints you set. If you're not happy with route results, you should explore altering these constraints. Also, I don't think ArcLogistics can import an OD matrix to use. Maybe if you wrote a plugin it would be possible but this is a task better suited for Network Analyst extension.

I'm sorry, that goes well beyond what we can discuss in a forum post. I suggest you have a look at the appropriate Network Analyst help topics pertaining to OD Cost Matrix analysis

Hi Andrea, sorry you're still experiencing issues. I suggest you contact technical support for the export error, I'm sure it's something simple but it will be easier for them to diagnose this. As for exporting the OD matrix, sorry, that's an advanced type of functionality that is really only available through writing a plug-in or alternatively through using the Network Analyst extension in ArcMap if you have access to that.

Hi Andrea, this exporting error pops up from time to time. To fix: 1. Browse to C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Engine10.0\ArcLogistics\Bin (or wherever you installed, if it's a 64 bit machine it's likely in Program Files (x86) folder) 2. Right click ArcLogistics.exe > Properties > Compatibility tab. 3. Choose to run program in Windows XP Service pack 2 mode. However, this isn't really what Jeff is talking about. To do what you're asking, you'd need to write some code as a plug-in. It shouldn't be too complicated if you have some experience with coding.

Hi Andrea, we'll try to help you out here. First, can you provide the addresses of your 2 depots and let us know what dataset you're using? If those depots aren't geocoded correctly then ArcLogistics will not know how to calculate a route to a point not identified on the network. We can check to see if these are located in some area which may cause problems. As for your max orders issue, this is pretty odd. You have a value of over -1 billion for max orders which is impossible when entering a value in the UI. When vehicles are created, they have a default max order value of 25. Could you look at properties for your vehicles and see what is listed for max orders? The weight constraint looks like it's working perfectly well, you lack capacity to deliver all of the orders based on weight. You mentioned that you entered any large number as 'max order', what exactly does this mean? Max orders is a numeric property of a vehicle. It can deliver 1, 20, 100 etc. orders in any given day.

Hi Jeremy, Typically your question would be better suited to the ArcGIS Desktop or Cartography forums since it doesn't have anything to do with routing vehicles or ArcLogistics but I'll try to do my best to answer here. You can right click on your layer file and choose Properties. Then browse to the Symbology tab and choose Graduated colors under the Quantities entry. On the right, choose the field value you want to classify by, the number of classes, and then enter your ranges. I'll attach an image of how I did this for city population as it should be much easier to see.

Hi Brent, I'll try to answer your questions the best I can and we can go from there. Max locations: I don't think there is actually a limit. It's rare for users to have more than a few depots or locations where vehicles start/end. Max Orders: 2,500 per solve Comment: 35 characters Description: 25 characters Name: Not sure Order Number: 15 characters Home Phone: 20 characters (A number of these are editable in defaults.xml at C:\ProgramData\ArcLogistics, you'd need to create a new project to take effect though) I'll attach our standard 'starter' template for importing but this may not be comprehensive enough for you. Have you seen the Plug-In SDK for ArcLogistics? There is an Import/Export sample which may be of use to you. Send me an email at byagrich@esri.com and I can get that for you.

Sorry, Navigator won't run on this device regardless of OS. I checked system specs here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=349051&prodTypeId=215348&objectID=c00350648. The iPAQ only has 64MB and Navigator requires 96MB at a a minimum. This device also has no GPS built in so you'd need to buy an external unit and pair over Bluetooth.

Hi David, the restrictions are data driven. Typically, ALN users are routing on TomTom or NAVTEQ commercial datasets and each of those has it's own unique set of routing restrictions. Whatever restrictions are available in the dataset are exposed to ALN for routing although you can change what the user sees in the application with the Visible attribute in the .xml file. If you're using a routing service, the case should be the same. Whatever restrictions and parameters were used in calculating the route on the server should be pushed down to the device.

Hi David, the remote control API is designed to be used with a second application. If you had some other field worker application for your driver, they could use that onsite and then use it to push the next destination to ALN for navigation. There isn't anything you can modify within the ALN application itself.

Hi David, I just want to make sure I understand your exact issue so we can consider it in future requirements planning if we don't support it now. You'd like to modify the route with waypoints to force a user-specified route without having to treat that waypoint as a stop and click 'continue'. Currently, you're correct that there is no way to set waypoints that aren't stops. ALN was originally built as a companion app to ArcLogistics Desktop so it was assumed all route editing would be done on the desktop and then pushed to the mobile navigator.

Sorry, there isn't a way to do this. The maps are served up by ArcGIS Online and ArcLogistics doesn't have the ability to override what is set for tile display scales.

Could you provide a few example addresses? With each new dataset, TomTom strives to add usable features such as restrictions which can be used when calculating a route. Some of these are turned on be default and you may not want to use them because it restricts you from visiting destinations. Try right clicking on a routing folder and selecting Properties. At the bottom you should see a number of restrictions, a few of which will be turned on by default. You can try turning some of these off but we highly recommend leaving on non-routeable segments and OneWay for obvious reasons. If this doesn't help, we'll certainly look at the some of the addresses if you share them.
