I'm going to try that right now. Thank you so much for your time and expertise, I appreciate it so much more than I can explain.

Hello All, Thanks for your willingness to help out. I've been making maps for quite a while, but have never been able to figure out how to add latitude/longitude tick marks on my final maps. I always have to add that in with another program. I'm sick of it, and I'm sure there's a way to do it, whether I've found it or not. Do you all have any suggestions? I've added a map to show the lat/long tick marks I'm talking about. Thank you, Claire p.s. If this was unclear in any way, please let me know.

I'm working to create a depressionless DEM so that I can autodelineate watersheds based on it. However, I'm a bit confused about the fill sinks process. I've been advised to just use the "fill sinks" tool in the ArcHydro toolbox, without regards to identifying or limiting the sinks. However, when I run this tool, either I get an error, or nothing at all happens, and no results are posted, and no new layer is created. What should I be seeing? I'm assuming it should fill all sinks since I didn't specify a threshold or create a deranged polygon. And I'm assuming after it fills sinks, it's supposed to at least create another layer, but I see nothing and nothing happens, unless I get an error, which is equally likely- it seems random. I'm trying to use this as a model: http://webhelp.esri.com/arcgisdesktop/9.3/index.cfm?TopicName=Creating_a_depressionless_DEM , however it seems very out-dated in its terminology. For instance, it refers to the "Sink function" and the "Watershed function", whereas in my ArcHydro toolbox, I do not see anything like that. I see "Fill sinks", "sink evaluation", "sink prescreening", and "sink selection". Which of these do you think it's referring to? By the way, here are some details about the data I'm working on, in case it will help: I have 3 different raster layers that are DEMs- would I need to somehow merge them into one to make this work? I did not recondition my DEM because I want to try first without burning the streams into the DEM (it's created from LiDAR). Also I should note that I'm working out of the Toolbox rather than the ArcHydro Toolbar, which won't recognize any of my DEMs. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you! Claire

I'm not sure- I'm actually having the opposite occur. In trying to use any of the ArcHydro Tools from the toolbar, none of them recognize my DEM layers. However, if I go to the ArcToolbox, and try from the ArcHydro toolbox, all the tools recognize my DEM layers just fine. Very strange. I'd prefer to use the toolbar, rather than the toolbox, but I suppose it will do for me.

Lady Jane, Thank you so much for your response. That looks to be very helpful, now that I know I just need to convert the LiDAR to DEM, I feel much better about this project. Your help is much-appreciated!

Hello Everyone, I'm new to ArcHydro and delineation. However, I've been assigned a project in which I need to take LiDAR data (I also have access to DEM and aerial photography) and I need to auto-delineate watershes. I have just installed ArcHydro sucessfully (I'm using ArcGIS 10 in Windows 7) but I do not know where to start. Has anyone got any tips for delineation using LiDAR data? I can use the DEM and aerial if I need to, but I'm supposed to mainly use the LiDAR (of which I've never worked with before either!) I've found some helpful tutorials using DEM, but can this be done using LiDAR? Thanks so much for any guidance you can suggest. -Cerose

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has replied to this thread. I also want to confirm that I was able to install ArcHydro for my ArcGIS 10, having first installed the ArcGIS Service Pack 3. I'm using Windows 7 and it installed smoothly, however, instead of getting ArcHydro from the ESRI ftp, I used this link:http://www.hec.usace.army.mil/software/hec-ras/hec-georas_downloads.html
