although this thread is quite old, I've had the same problem recently. I solved it by doing the following: I reassigned privileges to the arcgis server account (just the wizard) and restarted the server. AGS is behaving perfectly well again. Hope this helps.

Dear Friends, I am currently trying to use Dashboard (latest version) with Portal (10.3.1 + IIS 7) through a public URL. The connection is encrypted with a valid SSL certificate. Whenever I try to log in, I receive an error message as shown below. I have been searching through these forums but could not find any post regarding this issue. Translation: "The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send" Is there any chance to debug Dashboard? Is there any Log to check out? I guess the problem is related either to web adaptor or IIS. Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you very much in advance Sebastián Vázquez

Thank you very much Jonathan Please let me know if I am getting it right. I would process the file in an ordinary folder (e.g. c:\temp), then I would set it as an output parameter (e.g. arcpy.setParameter(1, c:\temp\txtfile.txt)) and finally, once the task is finished, the system itself would copy that file to the GPService output folder (which is a virtual directory too) and send a link back. Am I right? Is there any help topic in which I could find a clear directive on this topic (output parameters in GPService)? I have been trying by myself, but couldn't find any Once again, thank you very much in advance Regards, Sebastián

Hi there! I am currently trying to develop a python script which output should be downloadable as a file. It should behave just like a printing service, that is, sending back a link to the result. The issue is that I still haven't found out how to copy the result to the output folder and then make a link pointing to it. Do I have to send that path as an input parameter? Is there a special name - arcpy.env.outputfolder or similar- that would help me? Thank you very much in advance Sebastián

it is very kind of you, Scott. the article is very clear and helpfull. Nevertheless, I don't know if it will do the job since my environment is AGS 10 + IIS 7.5. I will give it a try and I will tell you then. Thank you.

you might make sure that the featureclass you want to edit is opened for the first time after starting the edit session in case that featureclass was already opened, try releasing it before starting the edit session

Thank you very much, Richard. First of all, I have to say that I don't know much about IIS. I've also dug into IIS forums...totally out of luck. I thought someone else might have had the same problem. I was wrong when I wrote 2097151 Bytes. The limit is measured in Kb. There might be a workaround. I guess so. I would appreciate any idea, link... Sebastian

Hello Let me explain my question. I've developed a REST service, which is running on top of an IIS 7.5. This service admits 3 parameters in the request. One of them is a JSON. I've also developed a client application that uses that service through POST request. In certain cases, I need to send a huge json. At this moment, the size of the json that can be sent is limited by the MaxRequestLength key, located at the rest.xml config file. MaxRequestLength is limited to 2097151 bytes. Then, my question is this: How can I go beyond? I need to send much bigger jsons than this, and I can't figure out how. I've been searching in these forums, as well as developer's help, and I couldn't find any answer. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance
