Hi Jane, In the Export Map window, have you tried increasing the JPEG Quality under the "Format" tab? I hope this helps, Cory

Have you tried opening a blank MXD, go under File and sign into ArcGIS Online there first? If I go to and try to add an ArcGIS Online feature layer it will open up an empty MXD but it does not log me in and I get a blank screen. However, if I login in an empty MXD it will then become added. It will also remember my login until I sign out. So if I close the map document and then try and add from AGOL it will open a new blank MXD that I am signed into. I hope this helps. Cory

No problem Mike. That is what the forums are for. There are a lot of tools available, even people who have been working with the software for a long time don't know all of them. Sometimes you just have to find time to play around and explore what is available. Cheers, Cory

SUBSET_SELECTION should work. You can use the Selection menu at the top of the screen and when you do the Select By Location option becomes available. Essentially the same thing.

Hi Mike, I would start by doing a Select by Attributes and select all of your sewer lines with an attribute value of 6". Perform a definition query on the subdivision layers for where the subdivision name equals North Hills Subdivisions. Then you can do a Select by Location (based on the selected features) that intersect (or completely contains or has their centroid in; whatever you think suits your scenario the best) the North Hills Subdivisions. I hope this helps. Cory

I am a big fan of label expressions but since the label expression does not seem to be working for you, why don't you try Label Classes. Change the Method under the Labels tab to "Define classes of features and label each class differently". Next, click on the SQL Query button to essentially do a Definition Query for [Lin_typ] = "Major". Set your Label Field to be [Contour] and then setup the text symbology: I hope this helps. Cory

Hi Robert, I ended up creating my own. I basically created them in PowerPoint (resources were limited) and then saved them as EMF images and imported them into the symbology for my features. See the attached image to see what they look like. If you need more info, let me know. Cheers, Cory

Hi Dan, As long as your attribute table has the same unique identifier as the record of interest in the excel or csv file, you will be okay. You can also import the excel or csv into GIS as a table if need be. I hope this helps and good luck. Cory

Hi Daniel, I think you need to elaborate a bit more on your property feature class/layer that you created. You are saying there are no fields populated? Are there fields created within the feature class? I have a feeling you are going to have a lot of work ahead of you to join your spreadsheet data to your newly created feature class especially without having any attribute information for your properties. Ideally, when creating a new feature class you need to have a unique identifier included, such as a rollnumber or PIN number for properties. Then using that unique identifier you can JOIN it with another source of data (another feature class or table) based on that unique identifier. If you have another feature class that already has the unique identifier and it intersects your new feature class you can perform a SPATIAL JOIN to transfer the unique identifier and other attributes from one feature class to another. The key is you need that unique identifier within your new feature class to join with your spreadsheet. You will have to do it manually unless the OBJECTID's in your new feature class match the record ID in your spreadsheet. If so you could probably do an attribute join based on that, but they must match perfectly. I hope this helps. Cory

Hi Forest, You can convert your symbology to Cartographic Representation and then add a Geometric Effect that is a Wave (see attached image. You can get more info here. I hope this helps. Cory

Hi Steve, Smart thinking on making a copy, I would do the same thing. I was just playing around and I think the Compress tool may NOT be the best. Try the Compact DB tool (see attached image). If you compress the database it kind of locks the file geodatabase down so you cannot do something as simple as Cartographic Representation. So try the Compact DB option. If that doesn't work and if you are willing I would create a new empty file gdb and import all of the feature classes and datasets into the new gdb. There should be no hold on the old feature class name then. If there is still a latent hold...that could be a serious issue. I hope this helps. Cory

Hi Steve, Can't say I have ever had that problem unless there was a lock on the data, but that is normally for trying to delete the feature class. Just out of curiosity, have you tried the Compress File Geodatabase Data tool in ArcToolbox? Maybe it will give the kick the file geodatabase needs. I hope this helps, Cory
