I would like to create a Multiple choice One answer question. Instead of labels I want to present the user with a graphic sketch and they chose the one that represents what they are seeing in the field. The application is manhole inspections where we want to capture pipe configuration with flow direction.

It would be very useful to have a stopwatch timer question type available. If one is in the field collecting data of a tablet or phone it is very awkward to have to use a separate device to to collect time. We currently work around this by having two time question and taking the difference, but in practice this seems to be a clunky workaround. It would be uch cleaner to have a dedicated timer question type. survey132 #NewQuestionType #timer

If go with the date field and appearance year. Can I extract the year only into a separate integer field? If so what would the calculation look like. eventually this data will end up in a Geodatabase and linked with the an existing feature class through a relate probably a database view as well.

Sorking on a Survey123 form to collect information about fire hydrants. One of the things I need to collect is Year Cast (Stamped on hydrant). I am not sure the best way to do this. Option one is to collect as a type date and then calculate the value into a non date field (integer or text). Another is just to collect it as a integer or text to start. Am am thinking of how to constrain the entry to a valid year (and not have to edit the survey it every year). Also what is the bet method if input spinner, keyboard, etc. If anyone has an experience or advice I would appreciate the feed back. Ismael Chivite James Tedrick

Lou, We used to store that as an attribute with hydrants and was manually updated. If you have implemented a geometric network or the new utility network you could calculate it. Another solution might be to find teh nearest water main feature and grab the size that way. Finding the nearest feature—Help | ArcGIS Desktop

I had some field workers complete without being logged in so they were saved as draft to the SQLite db on the mobile device as drafts. I can't send them because the username data type wasn't populated and is a required field. I tried logging in and send but that didn't work. It turns out that there is a bug (BUG-000113164 ) that screws things up. I downloaded the SQLite db to my desktop and can access it via the Survey 123 desktop app but get the same results as the mobile device. I would like to manually edit the SQLite db but am not sure how to do it as structure is very off looking to me. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you looked at the Collector or Survey123 apps. I find both fairly user friendly but of the two Survey 123 is a little less intimidating. Both are free and fairly easy to configure to your needs. I would publish the data to AGOL and update maintain it using which ever app fits your needs.

I have never used it directly by every time I have researched this in the past I always ended up looking at CompassCom's solution (http://compasscom.com/). Their solutions were very mature and fully functional for what we were looking at. That being said it is also very pricey and this was all pre GeoEvent Server was introduced which probably disrupted tis sector a bit.

The process is very similar to ArcMap. First select the features you want to export to the new Feature layer or shapefile then right click on that layer in the contents pane then go to Data>Export Features. This will open the copy features tool, confirm the Input Features is the correct layer and specify the Output Feature Class (it will default to the project's fgdb). It will only copy those features that are selected, if no features are selected it will copy all features.

I downloaded the two data sets you linked and they overlay fine. For the Oklahoma Counties Shapefile you need to download a separate .prj file for some reason (not really sure why they did it this way) and make sure you copy it to the same location as the other files that make up the shapefile (.shp, .dbf, etc.).
