Arthur - I apologize - I am just now seeing this. Have you had any luck yet getting this to work? Jay

If it does not, you could always manually edit the mosaic dataset footprints to remove the collar. I was wondering how to manually edit the footprints (the radiometric method worked pretty well, but there are sometimes a couple edges I'd like to smooth over). I tried starting an edit session, but couldn't select the footprints polygon to edit vertices.... Thanks, Jay

So I don't believe I have the ArcGIS Server Image extension, which means I am relegated to only working with raster datasets.... Are my goals still possible with raster datasets - mosaicing some 55 geotifs into a raster dataset (removing the collars first)? Would looking into the Server Image Extension have a strong benefit for this task, or is working with raster datasets enough? Regardless, what would be the easiest / best way to adjust the footprints? Manually drawing, or somehow clipping to any primarily white-colored border (although not all white)? Will the build footprints tool work, and would I have to perform it on each individual raster? Sorry for all the questions - I looked around online but couldn't find any tutorials related to these types of tasks. Thanks, Jay

Hello, I have about 55 geotifs covering the US, and would like to use them to create a basemap to publish in ArcGIS server (see this link for a previous post. I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions or resources to lead me through the best way to start this process on the ArcMap side. For instance, should I create a mosaic dataset or a raster dataset? Also, the rasters have some extraneous information off to the side that I would like to exclude from the basemap (see attached image). Is this even possible to do using ArcMap? I am experienced with working with vector data and ArcGIS Server, but don't know how to get started on this process or if this is even the wrong way to go about it. Thanks, Jay

Whoops! I made a mistake - to zoom to a point, you have to use the line map.centerAndZoom(geometry, zoomlevel). Probably too late, but this is a quick, elegant way to zoom to a single point. Thanks, Jay

In your case, the hideInfoWindow() is executing outside the if statement - that is, no matter if you clicked on a graphic or not. You need to move the hide statement inside the if statement, although you can make it simpler by just attaching this handler instead - no need to call the extra function just to execute one line of code. The !evt.graphic means "if you didn't click on a graphic". Hope that helps! dojo.connect(map, "onClick", function(evt) {
if(!evt.graphic) {
map.infoWindow.hide();
}
});

You should be able to just use the map methods centerAndZoom or centerAt. All you should need is map.centerAt(selectedTaxLot.geometry) or map.centerAt(selectedTaxLot.geometry, 24) Hope that helps! Jay

Ahh - okay - I understand what you're saying. Maybe my javascript isn't up to par, but I was under the impression you were supposed to close callback functions explicitly: function (parameter1, parameter 2, successCallback {stuff}, errorCallback{stuff}); Do I have that wrong?

So I believe the solution for me was due to the difference between testing operations my own local (development) copy of the website, and the copy on server. As it turns out, I was only able to successfully use the proxy by actually loading my website onto the webserver, and accessing the the website through its url (e.g. http://www.mydomain.com/website/index.html). In my code, simply using the relative-to-wwwroot proxy folder worked in the js (esri.config.defaults.io.proxyUrl = "/proxy/proxy.ashx"; when my proxy folder was a child of wwwroot. This would NOT work however if I was testing the website on my local computer. I had to load it onto the web server and run it from there. Does that make sense?

Thanks - I'm not sure that is the issue, because that bracket is in my original code - I just formatted the entire thing poorly so it's difficult to see. dojo.connect(saveButton, "onClick", function () {
updateFeature.getLayer().applyEdits(null, [updateFeature], null, function(results){$('#alert').jGrowl("Road obstruction saved");
map.infoWindow.hide();}, function (error) {
$('#alert').jGrowl("Could not save obstruction due to " + error.message, {
header : 'Error'
});
});
map.infoWindow.hide();
});

The infoWindow only shows when you click on a graphic. But clicking on a graphic would then also constitute a click on the map, which fires the infoWindow.hide() function too, hence the hiding. I tried setting a handler to only connect the infoWindo.hide() on a mouse click _once_ the infoWindow is shown. And then as soon as the infoWindow is hidden, diconnect the event handler. But that didn't work either.

Thanks for the suggestion. That just seems to hide the infoWindow as soon as it's shown - it's only up for a second. I also tried dojo.connect(map.infoWindow, "onShow", function() {
dojo.connect(map, "onClick", function() {
map.infoWindow.hide();
});
}); and that didn't seem to work either. Same behavior - just hides the infoWindow right away. Jay

Thanks for your help - sorry for not responding earlier. I actually got around my issue by applying a layer definition. The information I needed to filter by was contained in the title string (state). Thanks! Jay What I understand from your description, place this http://services.arcgisonline.com/clientaccesspolicy.xml xml file in root directory of your server. Also place http://services.arcgisonline.com/crossdomain.xml this xml file in your servers root directory. What I mean from server's root directory is the same directory where you placed your proxy. These XML's help in granting access to request's coming from other domains to your server.

Was curious if anyone's found a way to hide an infoWindow when a user clicks outside the infoWindow (instead of having to click the "x" or click on another map graphic which displays another infoWindow. I tried setting a dojo.connect event handlers like dojo.connect(map, "onClick", map.infoWindow.hide()); but that doesn't seem to work. Thanks! Jay
