Hi, I am running ArcInfo 10 SP1, I am editing a File Geodatabase on the Hard Disk. I will create some polygons & edit attributes etc.. then click "Save Edits". Then I select "Stop Editing" I go into ArCatalog, navigate to my Geodatabase, Refresh & Refresh a second time for good measure. The Feature Class modified date / time has not changed and the new polygons I have created are not there. I go back to ArcMap, and close it. Now I go back to ArcCatalog and the Feature class has been updated. So it does eventually write my edits to the GDB when ArcMap is properlly closed. BUT, the very annoying and frustrating issue is that I will spend hours editing and saving regularly, ArcMap will crash on running some tool, I go back to open the mxd I was working and NO edits have been saved from those past few hours. I have a colleague who is in 9.3.1 and he is having the same problems. What??s the point of saving when it doesn't actually save, are we really required to close ArcMap every 10 minutes and reopen ArcMap to guarantee we don't loose our work?

Hi guys, I am doing editing in a feature class, I have one feature completley overlaping another, how do I select the underlying feature? In other programs it is usually a combination of holding Alt key down while clicking the feature and continue clicking until you have drilled down to the feature you are interested in. I have tried holding down Alt, Ctrl, Shift in various combinations while clicking but cannot seem to select the underlying feature. Any help would be great! Cheers Curt

I can not seem to find out to simply make a Circle Polygon Feature bigger or smaller! Selecting the vertici only allows to move circle, and there doesn't seem to be any other options to resize a circle, right click menu etc..?? even pressing R key doesn't allow to change radius, am I missing something? Many Thanks for your help 🙂

Hi Michael, Thanks your advice worked a treat! I used "Bearing Distance To Line (Data Management)" tool to generate lines from the points using the Length attribute that I had and then a dummy attribute column for Bearing as i don't have this, all were generated at 45 degrees. Then I used the "Buffer" tool where I used the Width attrbute for Buffer width, selected Flat End type, and for Side type I selected Left. Either Left or Right would have been good for my purpose. This created a buffer with the exact dimensions that I had in the Attrubute columns, now its just a matter of getting their exact placement correct on the Ortho Aerial. This has saved a heap of time thanks Michael! Cheers Curt

Hi Everybody, I have thousands of points, which have have attribute columns for width & length. I have searched for a script that can convert the points to polygons with the dimensions of that in the attribute columns. Is there a tool or script floating about for this? Orientation and exact placement of polygon is not important for this task, as I still have to individually check, rotate & move the polygons but if they are allready created then atleast I save time in not having to do that individually 🙂 Many Thanks Curt
