I encountered this error on a windows 10 home machine that had recently updated to the latest fall creators update version 1709. Only solution was to reinstall pro. With regards reinstalling windows 10 there is the option to refresh, reset or restore you can also build recovery media from windows. Download it here. This is the first time I've run into this error so I'll keep an eye on it and see it reoccurs

Hi, been looking at this problem today and have found that if you want to publish the archive class you can create a view to the class in the database connection eg SELECT * FROM name_H when adding to ArcMap you need to use the archive OID as the unique identifier. This will then publish To arcgis server. Hope this helps Dave

Hi Craig, Sorry its taken a while to get back to this, I have been looking into a few working theories and the latest that seems to have some weight to it is the folder depth the rasters are stored in.Too deep and the server won't read it hence using the staging folder. Some of our users have also commented that in some cases arcgis server doesnt seem to register all the subfolders in a registered folder. I haven't had a chance to test this but will post back when I have. Dave

Hi Craig, Had a bit more of alook into this today and used a managed catalog which published within minutes for the same data. I have been in touch with our ESRI rep here and they going to visit us and work out the issue. Any answer I get I'll let you know. Mosaics are ok but at 10.1 you need the image server extension to publish which we don't have. Dave

Hi Craig, Have you had any joy with this issue? We are having the same problems with unmanaged raster catalogs with thousands of small tiles taking hours to publish if at all. We are running two arcgis servers (10.1) in a site. Vector data publishes in minutes with no problems. Both servers use a single data store for the rasters and the rasters are access via UNC paths. I have also tried to publish the data using individual rasters in ArcMap and it takes just as long. Thanks Dave

Just as an add on to this you should consider merging the shape files into a feature class as I have run into problems where the file size limit for the DBFwas exceeded when merging a large number of polygons. this caused the merge tool to fail but just gave the 999998 or 999999 error code Dave

if your specifically trying to look at rasters within a workspace you should consider using arcpy.da.Walk which was added at 10.1 sp1 this behaves much like the os.walk in python but allows for datatype filters. The tool will recurse through sub directories. Take a look at the link below for examples http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/#/Walk/018w00000023000000/ Hope this helps Dave

Hi Karen, You may struggle to get anything that relies on a GUI to work within ArcMap, this thread highlights few issues. http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/58207-ArcPy-and-Tkinter The main one that is the tkinter event loop used by pyplot does not play nicely with the ArcMap interface. Dave
