Hello Community! The newest version of AGOL has some fantastic features and seems to get better with every update. I have been using the dashboard web app and the info graphics to really showcase some insights along with visually compelling data. My end users have been thrilled at the results. However, I was wondering if there was a way to dynamically update either these info graphics or to dynamically summarize points in a boundary file. Here is my situation: I have a web map built with our facility locations and have also imported NOAA's current hurricane resource which shows active hurricanes with several layers, including a cone of uncertainty. This layer is a boundary layer and is updated consistently by NOAA which is then rolled out to all users such as myself which updates on my web app. Who doesn't love an automatic updating of web maps? I can summarize all of my facility locations using the cone of uncertainty layer since it is just a polygon layer, however, I would like to dynamically summarize my point facility locations as the cone of uncertainty layer is updated so that when my end users log into the web map they can easily see a "live updated" number of potentially impacted facilities. Does anyone think this is possible or am I pushing the envelope and needing to wait for another AGOL update? Thanks!

Hello! Not to be Captain Obvious, but are you concerned that your CPU is not grinding (working hard) or concerned that the tasks are now taking a lot longer. If the tasks are not taking longer, don't expect your CPU to be working hard either, especially with a 64-bit process and the monster machine you have it on. I know your feeling, my laptop, (minor equipment) will lag, grind, and take a bit longer to run processes and I can watch the CPU usage spike. My base computer (built just a wee bit hardier) doesn't even blink an eye for CPU usage, and my processing time is much faster. Then there are times when both machines just seem to take forever. Sometimes processing in ArcGIS is time consuming and it seems like there is nothing we can do to make it faster, including building a computer to rival NASA. We just need to be patient and hope that ESRI continues to improve their ArcGIS software.

Take the time to plan out your week, not your day. Meaning, have a theme for the day since anything that you plan is going to go long. It might also help to break it up into two parts: before lunch and after. Make sure you watch all or part of the Plenary. It is one of the most amazing and breathtaking sights you will see. If your pass allows, DO NOT MISS the Thursday Night Party at Balboa. It is guaranteed to be one of the best experiences you can imagine. Google Maps is your friend for dining options. The town is extremely friendly and all the restaurants will be happy to have you. Most everything is within walking distance of the conference and your hotel and your price range is, whatever it might be. Take a minute to say hello to the Student Assistants that work the event. They are your ESRI college students helping all week and they do a tremendous job. I know from experience as an alumni to the program

Have you used Alteryx before? What are your opinions or thoughts on the software? Have you had success or failure with using the software or incorporating into your department? I am most interested in their geographic information systems component and their ability to perform spatial analysis and export to ESRI Personal File Geodatabases. Thanks.

I would like to allow end users to change the symbology and color gradients in a custom web app? For example, I am displaying point data with amounts with different months as columns/attributes. I want them to be able to select a month and change the color of the symbol based on quantities. Basically I am trying to add the ease and functionality of the "Smart Mapping" from the map viewer to a custom web app.

Thank you for your reply and help. The code seems to work but then when I try to view the popup in the Web Map Application it bugs out and only shows the text again.

I am trying to insert a table into the pop-up using the custom attribute display. When authoring in HTML and in the preview (picture 1) you can see the table, but when I click on a symbol the pop-up does not display the table, just the data (picture 2). I have also included the beginning of the html code for a sample (picture 3). Or is there a way to format the text list so that it is properly spaced? Thanks

Yes, you should be able to. Right-click on the table from your TOC and select "Display XY data". Just remember to make sure that you have a coordinate system defined in the options window. I've found that WGS84 is a good standard. Also take note that sometimes it is better to start with a fresh document with no other layers. Add just the table and then display the XY data and then export it to either a shapefile or a geodatabase. Then you can open your original working document and add the new layer. Sometimes there is a bug in the system that prevents the XY data from being displayed correctly if there is another coordinate system being used in your current document.

Hello Vicente, Maybe I can help. Excel stores dates in a serial format so often and almost always these dates do not transfer over into ArcGIS. One solution is to split the date into three columns in Excel before exporting it to a CSV and importing it into Arc. You can reference the workflow here https://www.extendoffice.com/documents/excel/3267-excel-split-date-into-day-month-year.html Also, if you have lat/long in your CSV file it is good practice to first display the x/y data and then export the data into a feature layer in a geodatabse or create a shapefile. I have found that this often activates more functionality with the layer. If you are not sure how your date is being stored in Excel you can test it by clicking on the cell with the date and then clearing the formatting. If the date turns into numbers then it is being stored as a serial date.
