Turned out to be a simple fix, just adding CALL in front of the CLI commands: @echo off
echo Start of create cdpk script
echo ---------------------------
set cdf-app-name=%~1
set data-provider-name=%~2
echo Supplied arguments cdf-app-name=%cdf-app-name%, data-provider-name=%data-provider-name%
echo Creating new cdf app (%cdf-app-name%)...
call cdf.cmd createapp %cdf-app-name%
cd %cdf-app-name%
echo Creating new cdf provider (%data-provider-name%)...
call cdf.cmd createprovider %data-provider-name%
cd providers\%data-provider-name%
echo Installing packages (ws, node-fetch, uuid)...
call npm.cmd install ws@8.15.1
call npm.cmd install node-fetch@2.7.0
call npm.cmd install uuid@9.0.1
cd ..\..\..\
echo Copying source files (constructGeoJSON.js, model.js)...

Hi, I'm trying automate creation of the boiler plate app and provider for a Custom Data Feed with a batch file. However, once the call to the CLI command (cdf createapp <app name>) completes, the batch file exits, and so the rest of the script is not executed. Is it possible to stop this happening? /Darren Code snippet below: @echooff echo Start of create cdpk script echo --------------------------- set cdf-app-name=%1 set data-provider-name=%2 echo Supplied arguments cdf-app-name=%cdf-app-name%, data-provider-name=%data-provider-name% echo Creating new cdf app (%cdf-app-name%)... cdf createapp %cdf-app-name% cd %cdf-app-name% echo Creating new cdf provider (%data-provider-name%)... cdf createprovider %data-provider-name% cd providers\%data-provider-name% echo Installing packages (ws, node-fetch, uuid)... npm install ws@8.15.1 npm install node-fetch@2.7.0 npm install uuid@9.0.1 cd ..\..\..\ echo Copying source files (constructGeoJSON.js, model.js)...

Great! Thanks a bunch Megan! I guess I should have perhaps figured that out for myself.

Hi, I'm not sure that this is the correct forum for this, but I guess that I'll find out. I'm attempting to symbolize data from an external system (via custom data feed) using the MIL-STD-2525C symbology. I follow the steps outlined here, but my features show as unknown symbology. I have a field with symbol codes that match the MIL-STD-2525C dictionary keys in the .stylx file, for example: S-G-UCAW--, so I'm wondering whether there needs to be mappings to several fields on each feature to complete the symbol mapping. Does anyone have experience with this? My mapping settings can be seen below. I've tried to change the 'type' field under 'Text Fields' to my symbolCode field instead, but this didn't help.

Thanks @BlakeTerhune. Yes, I eventually figured it out back in October, but I forgot to post an update. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Hi Josh, do you have an example of how to " specify the output SR in the query function", or can you point me to it in the documentation. I can't find it anywhere 😞 Thanks, Darren

I've just also gone through this same painful experience. I had my search cursor inside a with, tried deleting all possible variables that might have had a reference to the to temporary file geodatabase (fgdb). This didn't work and using the memory workspace wasn't an option since i was using some gp tools that don't support this. The solution: to individually delete each tmp feature class I'd created in the tmp fgdb before deleting the tmp fgdb itself.

I'm just wondering about the best practice regarding the spatial reference of features loaded to a hosted feature layer in AGOL via the REST API. I understand that layers get re-projected on-the-fly in web maps, so it doesn't matter so much what spatial reference they're stored in, but what happens when I load a geometry with a WGS84 spatial reference for a new feature via the REST API for a hosted feature layer feature service with the Web Mercator spatial reference. I should be re-projecting first to Web Mercator? In this case no geographic transformation is needed, so its probably quite a marginal case, but would it anyway be best practice to re-project anyway?

Thanks Curtis, a very useful summary. Regarding setting the arcpy.env.XYResolution, it doesn't seem to affect things at all. So from that, I can only infer that it's coming from somewhere else or is hard-coded (which seems less probable). Perhaps someone from esri inc. can enlighten us. The ironic thing is that I was just at the esri developer summit last week where I could have asked the developers directly about it!

I totally agree with that view point. In this case it's not mission critical, hence the experimentation. It frustrates me that this isn't documented though.

Thanks Dan & Curtis, In the past, I've always used alternative methods like numpy allclose, but this time I wanted to give the .equals method a go. My problem (stuck working in desktop 10.2.1) was fixed by assigning the two pointGeometry objects being compared with a spatial reference. Still interested to know exactly where the .equals method gets the number of significant digits to use when comparing to see if the coordinates are 'equal'. Is it arcpy.env.XYTolerance (I haven't set), inferred from the spatial reference, or does it just use the esri default of 0.001. The esri documentation could be better at explaining this IMHO.

My work flow is as follows: I extract the start and end point geometries from two polylines using the .firstPoint and .lastPoint properties of the ArcPy Geometry class. Then I compare these points (which should be snapped at one end) with each other using the .equals method in the ArcPy Geometry class, to try to determine which end of the lines are connected to one another. This works in most cases, but ocassionally fails to find a match. My question is: what can I expect from using the .equals method, i.e. does attempt to handle floating point precision, or should I adopt an alternative approach? Thanks, Darren

Thanks for taking the time to answer Ted and Dan. I'm really specifically after a way to clear(/reinitialize) the Python Window built-in to ArcMap via Python. It seems like the only way to achieve what I'm after (so far) is via ArcObjects.

Thanks Joshua, it sounds like it'd be easier to stop abusing the use of the Python Window. I guess that I could probably get at the GPCommandWindow from Python via the comtypes library (http://sourceforge.net/projects/comtypes/).

Thanks Dan, no it was aimed at getting back the memory it consumes, since it seems like it never gets truncated. I output messages to the Python Window for a couple of python addin tools (that are used a lot). The best solution is to stop doing that of course, but just wondered if there's an easy way to clear it.
