we are planning to update our enterprise SQL Server system, currently our SQL Server is 2008, since SQL Server 2014 is going to be released soon, we are suggested that it would be better to update SQL Server to 2014 instead of 2012. We wonder when ESRI ArcSDE will support MS SQL Server 1014. Thanks !!

I have an application, querying ArcGIS Server layer date field ( data is in SDE 10.1 with SQL Server Enterprise), it worked perfectly until I updated to ArcGIS 10.2. The same query runs OK on ArcMap and any other no GIS tools, but not ArcGIS Server Silverlight App, ArcGIS Server REST API, always get the error : Unable to complete operation. In the same App, I also use WCF to for other date queries ( not related to GIS API), it is fine. It seems the ESRI ArcGIS REST API ( 10.2) has some issue here, anybody has such problem?

I am trying to add new features to the feature layer ( Autosave is true, Disableclientcache is true) 1. draw a graphic on the map 2. project the graphic to the same projection as feature services. 3. add the projected graphic to the feature layer. But the graphic doesn't show on the map until I refresh the map. any help is appreciated.

Hi, I am trying to configure ArcGIS Server 10.1 to use SQL server Security store ( SDE ). Following ESRI doc: Using a 10.0 .NET SQL Server security store in 10.1 ( http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/Using_a_10_0_NET_SQL_Server_security_store/0154000005pn000000/) I did some configurations, when I login to ArcGIS Server Manager ->Security ->Setting: I could see: User store 10.0 SQL Server Role Store 10.0 SQL Server But no records to display on user and roles tab, when I search a user or role which on SQL SDE database, the result show : no user matched the specific search criteria. For test, my SQL server and ArcGIS Server on the same machine, the widows login has admin privilege on the machine and SQL server. What I missed? Many thanks !

what we did : 1. ArcGIS server, Web Adaptor , Web Server (IIS) are in the same machine , is inside network. the reverse proxy server ( gis.company.com) is in DMZ. Please see the following link and my attachment http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/Firewalls_and_ArcGIS_Server/015400000431000000/ 2. web adaptor is configured with 443 , https we have two sites under web server: 443 with https, it could be accessed on the internet by https://gis.comapny.com the other site is 80 with http, for intranet. actully you can use one site, because we need to deploy applications for both intrant and internet, so I personaly prefer two sites with different physical path and application pool, different ports. In my work environment, the preoxy server is configured by network team. Don't forget to configure http and Https for both ArcGIS Server and web Adaptor

I have two servers areuing reverse proxy (https, because my boss like AD logins). My system ilike the following : Server name : testserver, with reverse proxy server : gis.comany.com Two websites under IIS : 443: https, 80:http Configure ArcGIS WebAdaptor with 443. go https://gis.comany.com/arcgis/admin ->security->config->update : set http and https for GIS_Server, http and https for Web Adaptor ( or http://testserver:6080/arcgis/admin ->security->config->update) For the intranet access : http://testserver:6080/argis..., https://testserver:6443/argis... http://testserver/apps... For the internet access: https://gis.comany.com/ arcgis... https://gis.comany.com/apps.... we could use the windows login (AD) for map services . By feafult, if the applications is accessed with https, all map services are using https.

I am a beginner with JavaScript API and dojo tools. I am looking for some sample code or help about a datagrid with my urgent task. I make a selection on a featurelayer, then I get IDs, with WCF service, I query a table from another database with these IDs ( one-many realtionship), I need to dispaly and update the query results through WCF. The results will be a table about 20 fields, all these fileds need to be dispalyed as textbox, dropdown list ( select),hyperlink, date picker etc. then the user will update table by input the textbox, changing the selection from the dropdownbox, picking a new date. How I bind the result to the dojo datagrid with textbox, dropdownlist, datepicker, hyperlinks dynamically and asychrinously update the table ? and also if it is possible in Javascript? the users open the map, render the feature layers according to their own preference , next time, no matter where he open the map, the feature layer will be displayed as his last setting , different users are different( in Silverlight, all these are very easy, but I really don't know how in Javascript). Many thanks.

Thanks for all of your replies. Yes, I need to learn more JavaScript no matter I like or not, just like my switching web adf to silverlight 3 years ago. it might be a bigger struggle from Silverlight to Javascript ( high-level to low-level language). I am still not much confident that using Javascript for SOE, MVVM applications. But silverlight is not the future for the developers, I hope Microsoft will not disappoint their fans, there may be another improved high-level programming language or technology will be here in the near future.

I have very similar programming experiences as Heming, I agree with all of his opinions, but I am not so comfortable with Javascript as he does. It might possible to develop SOE, MVVM applications with Javascript, I looked Johnney's blog, his blog inspired me a lot with Javascript on GIS, but consider the time, team resource, however I don't think I will easily take Javascript as an option for our enterprise applications now, but I will use them for some easy functionlities which could be public. All ESRI APIs are good, there is no one over another from my opinion, we just need to select the right ones for the specific application requirements.
