When publishing a GP tool (after a tool is run in ArcGIS Pro) to become a geoprocessing tool it is possible to see a major breaking issue. Recently we found that a shared path: "\\server\share\contentfolder\myDB.sde\myFeatureLayer" Was being mangled in the publication/conversion process. Pro is taking in these strings\paths and inferring in them that they need to be made "Server" friendly based on assumed needs. The above folder was being turned into: "%scratchworkspace%\\server\share\contentfolder\myDB.sde\myFeatureLayer" This then means that all connections/functions depending on these strings are now broken. The big issue we have is that this script/tool is now broken, and while the tool will publish the function will not work and will return a lovely 99999 error that the tool could not be executed. What we need is a way to review/approve the changes being made to a GP tool that is being published so that Pro is not making a change that in fact is not needed to happen and breaking the script in such a way that renders it inoperative. Troubleshooting and diagnosing this issue was complex, it required connecting to the ArcGIS-Config folder where it was published and running the script locally to the server to get to the "path not found" level issue from where the folder/string was changed.

Yes that is the NEW workaround for the poor UX change that was made that directly impacts users. Poor UX consideration.

Yes, removing this ability has created loads of new work for no good and logical reason. Negatively impacting User-Experience should be avoided at all cost.

I am curious about who made the BONEHEADED decision to take away the ability to create Enterprise Database connections in folders outside of the "Project" folder? I have dozens of users who rely on shared connection docs (.sde) files, and while we can see the older/legacy files PRO will not open them, and you also can't create new ones. When you right click a folder and select the "New" sub-menu; Enterprise DB connections is gone. WHY???

The Mapservices were in Server; but referenced in WebMaps on Portal; and that worked just fine.

I did the same thing; and it worked out pretty well. Only minor issues in some places with large services with Tile-Caches behind them; but overall worked out well.

You have to replace the service from ArcGIS Pro; you can't just drag/drop a APRX over the MXD; you have to publish/replace the service.

I agree with @AngusHooper1 , we did in-place upgrades for my entire platform (7 vms for DEV, 14 for STAGING, 18 for PRODUCTION) without issue. We went from Win2016 to 2019; will go to 2023 in the spring of next year. Don't go through the whole wipe/rebuild if you REALLY don't need too...

No quite, we need to be able to have a If/Else scenario. So if we hit the time-gate; then auto-approve.

When setting up a workflow that has a "Approval" question, how/can we put a time-gate on it. I am looking for if a Deny hasn't happened in 5 days that it auto-approves and the workflow continues.

Hey @AdamCarnow there was mention of a link to the presentations from the Summit. Any idea when we will be able to get that? Was great seeing it in person, but my mind has been digesting so much I want to go back through the backing info...

Magnificent question, I am betting in many instances no. I have some docs we use to guide annual upgrades etc; but to actually document a top-down rebuild no, we have ample diagrams of architecture and structure but the road-map to actual rebuild from clean VMs has just not been prioritized time wise.

I have found that actually pathing my scripts to use a UNC\SMB script; then having that published to my DataStore alleviates this issue.
