I would like the Near Me widget to be added to the pop-up options similar to the Situational Awareness widget. This would be particularity useful if you didn't know the search term but could locate the feature on the map.

Hi ESRI, I recently tried to publish an aerial survey to my organisations Portal using the copy to server option. The publishing failed but the service definition and all the data was left in the content directory. Portal had no idea it existed and so I couldn't delete it through the web Web GUI. The only reason I noticed is because i ran out of disk space (due the the failed publishing). To combat this I would like to see a utility that scans the Portal content directory for orphaned and redundant item folders. The utility could then give the option of deleting these folders. Thanks, David McDermott

Hi, Thank you to everyone who has replied so far. I feel it necessary to add more context and answer a few of the comment posted so far. Jacob Boyle My question wasn't about whether I should install ADS, more how best to utilize it as part of the deployment. The crux of my question is, are there any advantages/disadvantages of storing data in the ADS instead of an eGDB? In the first instance it would be third-party data that we consume but do not edit. Andrew Valenski (IT) Thank you for your detailed reply. Personally, I wasn't considering accessing the PostgreSQL database behind ADS directly. I was going to update the data using the web GUI, the REST API or FME depending on the data source. As you say, by using ADS and Portal as a data catalog it would declutter the eGDB. The main advantage I can see here is it would be easier to organize and maintain the data. My main concern would be how this may effect performance as each layer (or group of layers) in data store would have to be published as a feature service. Thank you, David

I have discovered that if the rotation value is set then it overwrites the placement property. This means the idea of setting up a class per position doesn't work. I have logged it as a feature enhancement request with ESRI UK.

Hi Anthony, It would depend on the data source. If the third-party provided the data via a web service (Feature Service, WMS, WFS) we would simply plug that into Portal. Data provided in file formats would would either download and overwrite the feature service using the Portal GUI or we would use FME. David

Hi GeoNet, I have recently installed and configured ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6 with the intention of using it to replace the current Flex for ArcGIS applications ( I know, I inherited it). At the same time we are performing a database audit to clear down the number of out of data or redundant data held in the Enterprise geodatabase. As a local authority we store a lot of third-party data from the Environment Agency, Thames Water or other Local Authorities. This data is for viewing or analysing and not updated by us. We also have a number of data sets which were generated here and are updated or a regular or semi regular basis. As part of this revamp of our GIS infrastructure and data, I am considering loading all the third-party data into Data Store and keeping our layers in the eGDB. Is this a valid option? What are the benefits/drawback of Data Store vs eGDB? The main benefit I can see is it would make it easier to organise and update third-party data. Thanks, David

I created 9 label classes, one for each position, then use a label expression to define the colour, font and size. The problem now is the rotate property overwrites the position property. So rather than offsetting the label to the top right then rotating the text around the offset location, the position defaults to right of the point then rotates around the point geometry. I tried using the Symbol > Position > Offset X/Y but the results are inconsistent. What is frustrating is my desired outcome can be achieved with an annotation layer but they are not suitable for what I need. The annotation layer WILL offset to the top right then rotate the text but Maplex can't. There just need to be a check box or something to stop this behavior.

Ok, So i would set up 9 classes, one for each position, then set conditional formatting using the tags in the label expression. It's a little convoluted but it could work. I'll give it a go and let you know.

Hi Robert Borchert, Thanks for your response. I understand how you have done this however it won't work in my case. The feature class already has several label classes to style the text differently depending on whether it's road, place name, water etc. As far as I'm aware you can't have label sub-classes. The option to define label style and placement properties through attribute data is something ESRI really need to consider. This would be as well as and independent from label classes. This functionality has been available in QGIS for several releases.

Ordnance Survey provide stylesheets for their MasterMap product in the form of QML, SLD and Layer files. The data contains values to determine the labels position around the point along with its rotation. The SLD and QML files work fine because GeoServer and QGIS allow every label setting to be driven by an attribute value. I think ESRI have fallen behind in this respect. The layer file rotates the label fine but it defaults to best position which means street names where "High" and "Street" are separate points look odd. In your example, does Maplex take with integer or the text value (1 or North) to determine position or does it use both? Does it have to a domain? Where and how do you set the rule? Thanks

I would like the ability to use a field to set the anchor/zone position of the label. For example, the point would have an anchor value of 7 or S which would place the label in the center under the point. This could also be achieved by allowing the user to set the offset from an field, e.g. x = 0 and y = -1 would place the label in the center, underneath the point.

The ability to select multiple assignments and send them all the navigator would be terrific. For the dispatcher or worker to be able to send additional assignments to this pre-planned route would be even better. Please can we have this is the next release.

Hello ESRI, I would like the options from the Smart Editor widget to be available in the Edit Widget, particularly "Prompt to save unsaved edits when form is closed or switched to the next record" and "Require confirmation when deleting a record". I do not understand why there are two different edit widgets? Thanks, David

I would find it particularly useful to specify where the feature info appears, i.e. either as a pop-up or in the sidebar. I find that the pop-up obscures the feature which can be a pain when you are trying to edit.
