I'm not having any luck getting Spatial Analyst (specifically Spline Interpolation) to run on my ArcGIS for Home installation. I show it as installed and authorized: but when I click on the Spline tool, I get: Is there a separate step for using/licensing this tool that I missed? Thanks for your help.

Hi all, Trying to use the Spatial Analyst "Minus" tool and cannot get it to function properly. My basic system is: ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 (Build 3143) ArcMap 10.1 Windows7 Enterprise SP1 I have two grids, one of which I am trying to subtract from the other. I can display both and generate contours from both so I am assuming there are no gross errors in the data. When I bring up the tool bar, select Minus, fill out the three parameters and hit OK, I get the following results. Any help in resolving this will be greatly appreciated. David

Thanks to all for your replies! You were correct that the problem lay in the coordinate systems used in the various layers. Everything is taken care of. David

No luck so far. The data frame coordinate system is: NAD 1927 StatePlane Texas Central FIPS 4203 Linear Unit in that system is: Foot_US I'm selecting a buffer linear unit of: 8,000 Feet I'm still getting a buffer zone about 6,880 feet deep from the outside of the object to the outside of the buffer zone. That's using both the internal MXD toolbox and also using: Arc Catalog System Toolboxes Analysis Tools Proximity Buffer

Well, I thought so too, but not in this instance. I'm using NAD27, State Plane 4204, US Feet and attempting to put an 8,000' buffer around county abstracts. When I measure the distance from the edge of the polygon to the edge of the buffer, I'm getting about 6,880'.

I'm trying to create a buffer zone from a set of irregular polygons, and the distance needs to be measured outward from the edges of the polygons, NOT the centroid. Can this be done? Thanks for the help!

I've got the data page laid out and functioning just like I want except for one thing. Can I get the feature in the primary data frame to highlight? I've got multiple, oddly-shaped, overlapping polygons as my selectable data (the purple polygons in the pic below). The selected polygon is shown in the index map so ArcMap is recognizing the polygon already. Help.

ArcGIS 10.0 SP5 (build 4400) Apologies if this isn't the correct forum. I've got 6000+ polygons (95% are rectangles) that I'm labeling with 11 separate labels for each polygon in a column orientation. The labels for each poly are extracted using a simple Python expression in the Layer Properties window: [ATTRIBUTE _1] + '\n' + [ATTRIBUTE_2] + '\n' + [ATTRIBUTE_3] .... The labels are displaying properly, but they are offset to the bottom, almost completely out of the polygon. What am I missing?

Hi all. When using extent indicators in an index map, it would be much better for my application if I could use a point symbol (ie: star, circle, 3D city, etc...) rather than the boundary polygon. Thanks! David
