So, I have been thinking about this. I think that a better business choice for ESRI would be to NOT let customers have an easy way to download their whole data set. This would make it too easy to leave if you ever wanted to. I feel like this will never be implemented. So, make a way to back it all up online. At least that way when our users accidentally delete an item or a feature we could get it back.

I would like to run a python script to access and update a table that is part of a feature service in AGOL. I am successful in retrieving a token but I am having a hard time finding any documentation on how to use that token to access the data in AGOL. The examples that I have seen only use a username/password combination to access data. This does not work to access an endpoint to a specific layer. Any help or an example would be much appreciated. I am essentially lost at line 21... from arcgis.gis import GIS
import requests
from arcgis.features import FeatureLayerCollection
client_id = "My App ID from AGOL"
client_secret = "My Client Secret from App in AGOL"
def get_token(client_id, client_secret):
params = {'client_id': client_id,
'client_secret': client_secret,
'grant_type': "client_credentials"
}
request = requests.get('https://www.arcgis.com/sharing/oauth2/token', params=params)
response = request.json()
token = response["access_token"]
return token
token = get_token(client_id, client_secret)
print(token)
token_params = {
'f': 'json',
'token': token
}
service_url = "https://services2.arcgis.com/FFD8998dfadf024/arcgis/rest/services/WaterBoxTesting/FeatureServer/1"
#data = requests.post(service_url, params=token_params)
#print(data.json())
gis = GIS(service_url + token)
lyr_result = gis.content.search('title:StormGateInfo')
lyr_result[0] Thanks, James

It turns out that you are only able to sign into ArcGIS Pro on 3 computers at a time before you start booting other computers that you have logged into. In my case I have a work desktop, a laptop, a test server, a remote desktop server that I use periodically, and this server I was working on. I eventually out-did my logins and was logged out of my production machine. Sorry that there is not a better answer then that. James

I am still working with technical support. I will post the results here. Their last email to me suggested that this was possible. - Fingers crossed!

I am running ArcGIS Pro 2.0.0 on a windows 12 Server (not controlled by me). There is an automated python/arcpy script that runs every night that replaces some tables in a GDB. Until recently the script would run and use the credentials stored by ArcGIS Pro for startup to authorize license level. For some reason now the "Remember Me" option doesn't work and the scripts fail. Is there a way for me to utilize the python script to provide login/licensing credentials for Pro? Thanks, James

I realize this is quite old but there is a way in Trimble Positions Desktop Add-In to Export your DDF file to a complete gdb including domains. The schema design needs cleaned up a bit after export in my opinion but you do get a complete working gdb. Very easy!

You could create model in model builder that checks the geometry, CheckGeometry_management (in_features, out_table) then use arcpy to cycle through a folder full of these items and check each one. Here is a link to the check geometry tool help page. Check Geometry—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop Alternatively you could just run Check Geometry as batch in arcpro or arc desktop.

Hello, I have a line fc with a field named PROGRESS. This field has a domain assigned with 3 possible values; In Progress, Completed and Not started. I can symbolize based on the values of the field but I would like to be able to add a sum of the Shape_Length for all of the different values to the TOC and in the end have the lengths show up in the legend. Is this possible? In Progress: 450 Completed: 3000 Not Started: 6500 Something to that effect Thank you, James

As the title suggests, is it possible to use your ArcGIS Pro license to run an automated script if ArcGIS Pro is closed on the machine you run the script on? Such as every night at midnight overwrite some tables in a gdb.

For some reason, somebody in development thought it would be a good idea to have the TableToTable tool assume the data type in a field might be coordinate information. This is ridiculous. The script runs and creates and x and y field because... who knows why. This is a huge pain to anyone who needs a table structure to not change because they may be using a new table to overwrite an old one. The schema.ini file has to be edited to make the tool recognize the fields as text and not assume that they are coordinate information just because it is a long number.

Hello all, I am trying to add a custom widget to an AGOL web app. Any help would be fantastic. So far I have installed Web AppBuilder DE, Set up AWS and have working S3 Web sharing buckets with SSL, I have a custom widget that someone built for me in a zip file. So I fire up WAB DE and I get prompted for a site. I put in the AGOL account site that I want to work with and then I am prompted for an App ID. The app doesn't exist yet. I would like to build one. What is happening? Thanks, James

Hello all, I am seeing an issue where ArcPy TableToTable is creating duplicate fields in the output dbf. Here are the headers in the CSV I am adding: MNAM, MCON, MAD1, MAD2, MCST, MZIP, GISKKK and yes there is data in columns. Here is the code I am running arcpy.TableToTable_conversion(putCSVHere, path, toDBF) "putCSVHere" is path to CSV which I want to convert that contains the above headers. "path" is the path to the folder where I am putting the new dbf. "toDBF" is the name of the dbf file to be created. My output dbf ends up with the following fields (headers):OID, MNAM, MCON, MAD1, MAD2, MCST, MZIP, GISKKK, Extra Fields: GISKKK_X, GISKKK_Y Data in these fields: 43.6666666667, -1 My question is, where do these extra fields "_X" and "_Y" come from and where does that data come from? It's not in the CSV anywhere Thank you, James

Well, this would work except in my Desktop I cannot add to selection while using the Select by Location. It always just creates a new selection. Any advice there? EDIT** Actually it did work for me. I had to change the add to selection in the Select by Location window not not the selection tab. Thanks again.
