The proxy was not the problem, this seems to be because we use windows logins for the portal

We have a local portal that is hosted on an intranet server and can not be access from the outside. Our webappbuilder can access our public outward facing portal, but when trying to login to the intranet one it gives an "incorrect username or password" error, most of the accounts tried are AD accounts, but some were made in the portal. The intranet portal was working great in the original beta 1, this was broken when beta 2 came out and introduced all the ....login systems. Any ideals, I'm leaning toward a security issue, but i have no Idea what it would be

I feel like javascript will be here for years to come, it has come along way from its early years (still not perfect) and has the huge support of major companies and several more are breaking down and joining the javascript bandwagon, I think you will see that in a few years browsers will start to display everything the same, the mass user exodus from IE to firefox and chrome has kinda shook microsoft awake and they have been making progress this. Plus with frameworks like dojo, and bootstrap these make it easy to have the same interface on all platforms.

I noticed that too, I think you can add it to the portal if you are using it ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2)

eh, I have a temporary job in javascript/web sevelopment, so not yet really. you could also do map.extent.getCenter() that would return a point (and be pretty easy because all the bookmarks are just map extents). but you would need to make sure that the store/resturant was dead in the center of the screen I know the geocoder widget has nice popups when you search for something, it uses map.infowindow , its near the bottom of it's code if you wanted to look at that.

Hmm thats odd, it was working when I sent it, did you use IIS or apache to host it on localhost or a test website? accessing a local file system is not possible due to same orgin policies on modern browsers

So first off there is a string of code giving an error that is not even used so remove this starting at line 87 "this.own(on(this.bookmarkName, 'keydown', lang.hitch(this, function(evt){ var keyNum = evt.keyCode !== undefined ? evt.keyCode : evt.which; if (keyNum === 13) { } })));" As far as the not appearing the first time, remove this line from the HTML, it will fix it <div class="jimu-state-error" data-dojo-attach-point="errorNode"> </div> This is the error message that would appear if the bookmark name was blank when trying to add a new one

Im sure with enough modification that you could do that, I modified it to take in a list of rest services in a config file like flex, but I still have to put in a portal URL for other things. For example the basemap widget makes a call to the portal to get a list of basemaps from the portal, so there would be tons of code to modify to get it fully stand alone. Beta 2 relies even more on the portal than beta 1 did so thats the direction they are headed, ESRI is wanting to make everything connect together and pretty much revolve around the portal, not always great for every buisness, but there are some advantages to it also. We also host all on-premise rest services. But we also host our own portal on the internal network.

I wasnt saying to put all the districts in the HTML file, Those would go in a JSON file seperate from the HTML file. That way you still have the seperation of your files. But there is probably a better way. I attached a copy that hammered out, needs to be ran though IIS or apache because of chromes orgin rules. Not very efficent code because it does the request syncronously, but I just wanted to show what I was meaning.

Thats a really interesting problem, the problem is chrome is not able to find the element by the ID, you might be better off putting the Real_Estate_Filters2.js file contents into the javascript secton of your code (tried this, and it worked), and then have a JSON file that you load all the options from.

Short answer is yes, the apps once finised can be hosted on a webserver, the apps still make calls to the portal to get info, but a user doesnt have to be logged in. I have experemented with removing the portal dependencey, Using rest services instead of a map ID. It worked but some functonality is crippled.

You have to modify the JavaScript too, When you remove the buttons a connection to JavaScript variables is broken, So then the program is trying to access an undefined variable. Removing all "this._switchDeleteBtn();" and "this._switchAddBtn();" will fix your problem. Chromes JavaScript Console can help a lot with debuging these problems, If you have anymore questions I have the modified bookmark code.
