edit: I just saw this question was from 2014!!!! I am imaging a scenario where you have road side ditches that are 'jumping' across, but you need it to stay in the ditch until your mapped culvert. Your method of creating a wall is my preferred method. I'll use a road center polyline, apply an arbitrarily high elevation (1000') and convert it to raster (ensure snap raster and cell size are based off of your source elevation raster). I'll then use my culverts as cutlines. If your raster has sinks, make sure the fill command is not set to 0, but rather an actual limit that is less than your wall height. You should be able to now have flow stay in the ditch and run 'through' the road at your culvert cutline location.

For me, it was a non-python toolbox that caused the spacing issue. (I think. Now I'm second-guessing what I did to fix it).

I'd like to add that the toolbox name cannot contain spaces, so far as I can tell.

This suggestion fixed the issues I was having with the tool. My input point field had A LOT of fields. I removed all but the value that was used as the Z input and it worked. The issue I was having is the tool would run for part of the spline distance and stop. It was not a cell x cell count issue. Thanks! "spline tool extent not complete"

Seems silly, but make sure that your X,Y, and Z units are all the same. Since you said that your calculations are very sensitive to any changes, ensure that when you made the TIN that you specified the Z-tolerance. If you leave it default, it will guess for you. Not good in this case. Try using the Polygon Volume tool instead of various flood extents. I will assume for this exercise that the WSEL is uniform.

At the UC, Cody Benkelman of esri showed off their new watershed tool in the Managing LiDAR technical workshop. It is free for now, but cheap after beta this fall. You can use 30m NED for the USA, or 90m SRTM worldwide (how convenient for you ). You need to use an esri login to use the free service, but in testing at the office, it works great. This link has all the goods. http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=8e48f6209d5c4be98ebbf90502f41077 Report back your experience if you wouldn't mind.

We just purchased a GENEQ SXBLUE II. I just received it yesterday. We are in the process of installing the app on our iPads. My email is tkukitz@cityftmyers.com. I will post info here when I find out how it works. Can you provide your experience? I'm interested in it getting one (or a bunch) for my organization.

Does the current version of ArcHydro work with 10.2.2? I'm guessing so based on Stuart's text above. Note that ArcHydro Tools (current 10.2.0.40 for ArcGIS 10.2/10.2.1/10.2.2) has already been downloaded into a local system folder.

Hello. I am trying to download the 10.2 64-bit version of the software with no luck. I've tried the web interface, both Java and non-Java, as well as Filezilla. Tried in Chrome and IE. Java: tries to connect forever. Non-Java: I can see the .msi file but how do I download it? If I click on it I get an error: "Duplicate headers received from server" FileZilla: Host is mft.esri.com, port 22. Current username/ password entered. Tried both ftp and sftp. "Network error, connection timed out." An ideas? Thanks, James James - Like you I had errors. I was able to use the: 2. Third party SFTP client ** Download a preconfigured client https://mft.esri.com/EFTClient/Account/mft.zip **

This is an opinion discussion. I think the time has come for ESRI to combine these tools as a single extension (dare I say include it as part of the core). While not as long in the tooth as some, I have been using both 3D and SA since 8.3. It made some sense at the time to keep these separate. They were newly developed and the costs for this needed to be payed for. Majority of users' computational power wasn't all that great so the adoption rate also lagged. Fast-forward to 2013 and beyond, these two extensions have more-or-less morphed into the same thing for the majority of users if have come across. Sure they have added a slew of new features specific to 3D or SA, but a lot of the tools exist in both toolboxes, only further complicating the issue of license and model management. What is keeping them separate and/or out of the core product? Are there reasons other than financial incentive for ESRI to continue this way? Cheers
