While attempting to automate the writing of records to the reviewer table utilizing the GP tool Write To Reviewer Table, is there an object type that is acceptable input for the in_reviewer_workspace parameter? I have tried IWorkspace, IFeatureWorkspace, ISqlWorkspace, and a direct Catalog path to a connection file. The path is the only thing that has been successful. All other input objects return invalid parameter type for in_reviewer_workspace. I am developing in C# at 10.3.1: gp5.AddToolbox(@"C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\ArcGISDataReviewer\Desktop10.3\ArcToolbox\Toolboxes\Data Reviewer Tools.tbx"); gp5.OverwriteOutput = true; IVariantArray parameterswritedr = new VarArrayClass(); parameterswritedr.Add(); parameterswritedr.Add("Session " + drsessionid + " : " + sessionname); parameterswritedr.Add(featurestowritetodr); parameterswritedr.Add("OBJECTID"); parameterswritedr.Add("originname"); parameterswritedr.Add("reviewstatus"); gp5.Execute("WriteToReviewerTable", parameterswritedr, null);

We are using the Production Mapping Custom Steps to execute our data reviewer batch jobs through our workflows. We have found that when executed from the WMX Web Application, the step throws an error "Unable to execute the workflow step. Timeout exceeded" This error is shown consistently, but sometimes the execution of the batch job completes successfully anyway. There are no errors reported in the ArcGIS Server logs for the WMX Services. Our WMX service timeout is set to 600 seconds. The step execution throws the error after less than two minutes of running.

Hi Tope, I didn't see the screenshot you provided. I believe you're referring to the "Require procedural steps to be marked as started" option in the Workflow tab of the Workflow Manager System Settings. I disabled this option and now have full functionality with the toolbar button to mark steps complete. This setting affected each kind of step in our workflows, procedural, executable, launch URL and question steps. Why does a requirement for procedural steps affect other step types in the workflows? Thank you for providing this solution for us! Chelsea

Hi Tope, We had actually investigated using question steps in the WMX Web Application as a workaround for displaying pop up notifications as part of a step. We have found that we have lost considerable functionality between the desktop and web WMX applications, in this case because pop up messages are not supported. We had hoped that by creating question steps and using tokens to enhance them, we could provide the user informative messages. The example provided above was more for clarification of my meaning. A true example of how we would want to use this would be to have a question step following the step creating a data reviewer session. The data reviewer session would be created and named according to job information (using tokens). In the question step we would have liked to provide the user a pop up with the data reviewer session id that was just created for the job. This way, the user would know their session id and could use that information to more easily enter a filter on their data reviewer table inside of the Road Characteristics Editor. This example would use the [REVSESSION:ID] token Without this, the current process is to have to search through a long list of session unique values (not sortable) from within RCE and seek out the session name (based on the job id and job name). The more critical requirement my organization has is to support pop up messages from within the WMX Web Application. That said, we have managed to design around these limitations thus far. Thank you for your response. Chelsea

Hi Tope, This issue occurs for all step types in the workflow. The following two example show simple workflow samples. These steps are all out of the box JTX Custom Steps, procedural and open url. The current step is set to Create Job Version. The create version step is an out of the box custom step in the JTXSteps category. In this workflow, it is configured to "can be skipped". I am able to right click on this step and "Check Step (Mark as Done)" without issue and the workflow proceeds to the second step. In the following workflow, the same issue is experienced with a open url step and a procedural step: For the Launch DCG RCE step (Launch URL step type), the step cannot be skipped. When this step is right clicked and "Check Step (Mark as Done)" WMX presents the "Step cannot be skipped and has not been executed." message as expected. The toolbar button is unavailable. For the Test Case Edits step (Procedural step type), the step can be skipped. When this step is right clicked and "Check Step (Mark as Done)" without issue and the workflow proceeds to the next step. Oftentimes, my organization assigns steps to groups or leaves them unassigned as so many users in different groups will be executing them. I reconfigured one of the steps above to be assigned to my user (currently logged in) to see if that would make the toolbar button usable. This configuration did not change the availability of the toolbar button and I was still able to successfully perform the right click "Check Step (Mark as Done)" operation. Thank you for looking into this. Chelsea

I am experiencing the same issue where the launch gp tool launches with the invalid input workspace. Did you ever find a resolution for this issue apart from manually navigating to the location?

Using WMX Desktop 10.3.1, the Mark Current Step Complete toolbar button is greyed out for every step in the workflow regardless of step settings. Right clicking on steps and clicking Check Step (Mark as Done) behaves as expected for various step settings (can/cannot be skipped). For the same user, steps can be marked complete using the button in the Web Version of WMX at 10.3.1. User has all permissions and is an administrator. Other users with more restricting permissions experience the same issue with the Desktop toolbar step "Mark Current Step Complete" being unavailable. How can the toolbar step be configured to be available to the user?

Is it possible to use a WMX token as part of the question in a Ask Question step in a workflow? For example "Are there additional errors with the linework edited for [JOB:NAME]?"

I have successfully developed and implemented many custom wmx steps on desktop 10.3.1. I have modified those for server, making sure that no desktop only WMX assemblies are being used. I used C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\RegAsm.exe to register the .dll files on the server machine. I stored the .dll files (registered with RegAsm.exe [64]) C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\WMX\Server10.3\Bin for the WMX Web Version application to consume it. When the .dll is successfully registered and stored in this location, the web version application of WMX still cannot find the step. The equivalent steps registered on desktop and stored in the desktop install bin folder are executing without issue on the same machine. How should I be deploying these .dll files on the server machine such that the WMX web viewer application can access them? What is the purpose of this exe: C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\WMX\Server10.3\Bin\UpdateWMServer.exe ?

Is Road Characteristics Editor designed to support a versioned Data Reviewer repository at 10.3.1? How do I configure the tools in RCE/Data Reviewer services to respect versioning as managed by WMX? Currently the RCE buttons create sessions at sde.Default and query sde.Default to populate the Data Reviewer table. We would like to configure our installation such that each of these points to the job version created by WMX.
