We do not have plans to support backward compatibility between maps in ArcGIS Pro project files and ArcMap .mxds. Migrating these maps to Pro is a one way operation. The underlying structure and differences in capabilities mean that this would be a very lossy operation. Thanks for submitting your idea, but unfortunately we won't be able to address it.

I've tried to reproduce this with the latest release, 2.4.3, but haven't been able to. All my changes apply and are saved. Could you reach out to tech support and see if they can reproduce it with you? Thanks, David

Just to clarify, we are implementing geodatabase replication starting with the create and sync replicas geoprocessing tools along with an interface to manage replicas. This is traditional geodatabase replication. At the same time, we will be continuing with the development of services-based sync workflows. You will be able to choose which one best suits your needs. Thanks, David

Thank you for all your feedback. It has been very helpful as we have been evaluating how we will support your workflows with ArcGIS Pro. We have started a project that we believe will meet your requirements. We have planned a phased roll out. Initially, we want to provide the tools to allow you to create and sync replicas in the next release of ArcGIS Pro. See the following UC Q&A for more information: https://www.esri.com/en-us/about/events/uc/get-involved/q-a#id=3925 David

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have been including an open source Python merge module that contains a folder/file named with an offensive English word for multiple releases. Esri apologizes for this. This is not malware and we are not aware of any security vulnerabilities caused by this file at this time. For more information on this file please see the following. We will release more information as it becomes available. - David Watkins, ArcGIS Pro Product Manager

Thank you all for your comments and feedback. We really appreciate all of your responses. I apologize for not providing an update sooner. We have been in an information gathering phase, and since my original post we have been following the activity on this thread, the ideas site, and technical support. We have also met with many users at both our Federal GIS Conference and the Developer Summit, and we have been actively working on a strategy for addressing your needs. If you have additional items or information from your workflows that you haven’t seen already mentioned in this thread, please continue to add them. We are currently making some decisions about how we will support your workflows in Pro. As soon as we have finalized our plan I will share it. Thanks again, David

Again, thank you for all of your feedback. We just put up a blog post related to this topic. We are working on a design that we believe will meet your requirements. Please take a look at the post when you get a chance and continue to let us know about the different ways you are using geodatabase replication in your organizations by commenting here or in the blog post thread.

We’ve had many users ask about plans to support the ArcMap geodatabase replication workflows in ArcGIS Pro and we want to clarify a few things regarding replication workflows moving forward. The need to access authoritative GIS data from anywhere at any time is more important than ever. This is causing a shift in how we access and interact with data. Web GIS patterns provide the means to share, access, and work with data in a variety of ways extending the ArcGIS Platform. Because of this shift our general direction has been moving from the client/server model (directly accessing the geodatabase via a database connection) to a web GIS services model. We believe that there are inherent advantages in a services architecture. In ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise, we have already been actively developing functionality that supports the new feature service sync technology. With ArcGIS Pro 2.1 we introduced offline editing workflows to allow maps to be taken offline when disconnected from the network. This takes the feature service datasets offline to a local geodatabase. Users can perform edits locally, and then sync those edits with the server. The bi-directional sync process allows the offline geodatabase to share changes made and receive updates others have made to the web feature layer. See the ArcGIS Pro documentation for more information: http://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/projects/take-a-map-offline.htm We have a mid-term project planned to further incorporate geodatabase replication workflows into ArcGIS Pro. We are still early in the planning phase of this project, but one aspect of the project involves leveraging the feature service sync technology. We want to leverage sync as it is available across the platform in both our online and enterprise products. The existing geodatabase replication tools will continue to work with data that is compatible with ArcMap and we encourage you to continue to use them until an ArcGIS Pro solution is available. We are interested in hearing your workflows with distributed data. Please feel free to comment with your business requirements and how you are currently working with distributed data.

Thank you for all the great feedback on this thread. We’d like to try to clarify a few things regarding our replication workflows moving forward with ArcGIS Pro. Our general direction is moving from the client/server model to a web GIS services model because we believe that there are inherent advantages in a services architecture. However, we understand that there are a wide variety of workflows and requirements. Our goal is to support those workflows without requiring a solution that is overly complex or requires a large investment on your part. We are still working through our designs with an expectation of having something in a mid-term release of ArcGIS Pro toward the end of 2019. Please continue to utilize the ArcMap replication tools until a next generation solution is available, and continue to post to this thread to describe your core workflows and concerns as we work on support for replication workflows in ArcGIS Pro. Note: we are working on a blog post that will update what was in the 2018 User Conference FAQ. We will post back to this thread as soon as the blog post is available.

Hi Aaron, What software are you using? Are you using ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro? We have dynamic tables in ArcGIS Pro, but not in ArcMap. Here is the help topic from ArcGIS Pro: Add and modify table frames—Layouts | ArcGIS Desktop If you are using ArcMap, there are ways to make dynamic tables using Python and ArcPy.mapping, but this would require some coding. Thanks, David

Hi Jon, In legends you set up your legend style using Legend Items. To create a new Legend Item create a default legend first going through the wizard. Then open the legend properties and go to the Items tab. In that tab you can select one or more of the legend items and update their properties (font, layout, heading, patch size, etc.). Once you have it set up the way you want, hit the Style button, and in the Legend Item Selector that comes up, hit the Save button. This will save your new Legend Item to your personal style. To move the Legend Item to another Style to share, use the Customize pull down to access the Style Manager. From here you can create a new style, or load an existing one and copy the new Legend Item from your style to a style to share. You can send this around and other people in your organization can reference it and use it. Now to apply it to new legends, you must first go through the wizard to create a new legend using defaults, and then go into the items tab in the legend properties, select all the items in the legend, hit the Style button and then you can select from the new Legend Item to apply it to your new legend. If you have a legend already set up and save it as part of your map template this will keep the default, if you are using the same layers. I hope this is helpful, David

Darren has the right idea. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to do this from the User Interface. The alternative is to use the arcpy.mapping Python module to write a script. You can use Python to export the pdf files directly and give them your unique naming convention. I would recommend starting with this help topic starting with the Export to PDF examples: Getting started with arcpy.mapping tutorial—Help | ArcGIS Desktop

Hi Vincent, That option isn't available in Pro 2.0. It will be included in Pro 2.1, coming out very soon. When you get 2.1 we have changed the terminology for these a bit, so you will add 'Intersection Points' instead of a 'Grid of Ticks'. The idea is these points designate the grid intersections and you can display them using any point symbol you like (the cross hair is still the default). So, look for them in the new grid functionality in Pro 2.1. Thanks, David
