I am conducting a study on the feasibility of global crowd sourcing of individuals for location data. If you are willing to weigh in this topic, please read and complete the questions in this post. I have worked as a GIS professional or technical professional who works with GIS technology for (time in years). I spend approximately % of my daily job duties using location data. I spend approximately % of my daily job duties updating, correcting location data to utilize it. Do you believe that a global data set could be captured by crowd sourcing individuals? If a global data set of locations existed, explain how it would help with your job, and in other areas if applicable.

We are experiencing an issue where if a ArcGIS server is set to HTTPS only or HTTP and HTTPS only then we cannot "Execute Task" on the Export Web Map Task using a url with https. If we set the url to http is works fine. On a HTTP only ArcGIS server with works fine. The error that we are getting is: Unable to complete operation. Error executing tool. Export Web Map Task : Layer "layer0": Unable to connect to map server at https://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Street_Map/MapServer. Failed to execute (Export Web Map). Failed to execute (Export Web Map Task). On the ArcGIS server itself we are getting this error in the logs: SEVERE Jan 3, 2018, 3:48:11 PM Error executing tool. Export Web Map Task : Layer "layer0": Unable to connect to map server at https://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Street_Map/MapServer. Failed to execute (Export Web Map). Failed to execute (Export Web Map Task). Utilities/PrintingTools.GPServer And this warning: WARNING Jan 3, 2018, 3:48:11 PM The certificate authority is invalid or incorrect (WinINet ERROR_INTERNET_INVALID_CA, 12045), URL = https://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Street_Map/MapServer?f=json Utilities/PrintingTools.GPServer Ideas on how to resolve this would be great. I have tried many different scenarios including Getting the proxy server from GitHub, and testing it to make sure that it works. Changing the cert, updating the cert, importing a new cert. Adding the cert to all locations on the window's side. Netstat to check the ports, and the porta are opened. I can access the url outside of export map, on the ArcGIS server. In fiddler I get a 304 not modified. I can see that a token was generated, the token life in the header is set to 60 minutes, but on the server the lifespan is 1 year for all generated tokens. I will take any suggestions I can. We also opened a ticket with ESRI and they are also looking into this.

Thanks for your reply. I think you are right. I tried the webContextUrl, I also added the proxy files from here https://github.com/Esri/resource-proxy and configured those. I've done a bunch of other steps and still I am redirected but only if I come in through Get Token off the ArcGIS Rest Services home. Thanks again.

Thanks for this suggestion it ended up solving the issue that I was having, but I don't understand why...I am redirected one way and not the other. It is because of the HTTP GET instead of POST??? It must be. I would consider this a bug.

But if I generate a token via the GUI off the rest services home then I am redirected....

I have a puzzle. Any thoughts or ides on what the cause could be would be greatly appreciated. Our setup is URL<->F5<->Web adaptor<->ArcGIS Our server is only over Https. This issue existed when it was both http & https, so that is not the issue. I can generate a token on localhost, append the token and presto-change the token works over and over no issues. I can generate a token through web adaptor to and presto-change the token works over and over no issues. When I generate a token through the F5, I can but when I try and use the token I am brought to the login page. I have identified that this an F5 issue. Since using localhost bypasses the F5, and using web adaptor bypasses the F5. But I don't know why this might happen. F5 is bridged 443 to 443, and has a 80 to 443 redirect. There is a signed certificate and the connections all work. It's just the tokens that do not. Any ideas?

Thank you for your feedback. Are you referring to directory structures when speaking of case dependency?

We have always installed ArcGIS server on windows - since 9.3. We are at a point where we want what is most efficient. There is no clear examples out there on which is the better OS for ArcGIS Server. Any feedback on this topic? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your help. I implemented a filter and see now that the adaptor while having many incoming feeds, is not writing output with the filter in place. Makes me wonder if the definition that I am trying to use is working or available. I also ran tests with every definition available. Coming back in the feed are: GPS many incoming feeds Diagnostic about 35 feeds for every 200 HealthBuffer about 1 feed for every 750 Histogram about 11 for every 200 Lastbuffer 1 for 500++ Sensor 0 Status 0 VehicleReg 0 Incident 0 TrackGap 0 Below is the a screenshot of test service I am working with - as you can see- there are many incoming feeds but none that are for what I am filtering on. I've removed the additional filter which is just on a certain id, and had the same results.

I updated to 10.4 networkfleet adaptor. I followed the step by step pdf and recreated everything including the connector. I went in an updated our running services which used the connector. The odd thing is that no matter what GeoEvent definition created after importing the .jar, i.e. (NetworkfleetGPS, NetworkfleetDiagnostic, NetworkfleetHealthBuffer, NetworkfleetHistogram, NetworkfleetLastBuffer, NetworkfleetSeatBelt, NetworkfleetSensor, NetworkfleetStatus, NetworkfleetVehicleReg), is used, we only see NetworkfleetGPS. Example is we use NetworkfleetVehicleReg to NetworkfleetVehicleReg and and output to a file as a test, we see NetworkfleetGPS and the mapped fields associated to that definition. Its as if the other definitions aren't configured or all are overwritten by NetworkfleetGPS, or NetworkfleetGPS is the default and is the only definition that can be used. Any ideas on how to fix this, work around this? This is causing a huge issue because we have a feature service which was working off 10.3 and now it doesn't work with 10.4.

high level of our topology: F5 (ssl bridge 80 to 80, ssl offload 443 to 80) <-> web adaptors <-> ArcGIS servers <-> file server (config store, gdbs, mxds) After we generate a token. We are appending the token to the end of a url string (&token=). If the token is generated right on the ArcGIS server and then appended using localhost it works. If the token is generated from web adaptor and appended using web adaptor name it redirects to login. If the token is generated from url tied to VIP on F5 ex. gisserver.com and then appended to the url it redirects to login. I have verified that the actual request is valid before appending the token. We running 10.4.1, OS: windows server 2012 R standard, we have stealth enabled (we've taken it off and put it back in place and it has no effect on this). We have HTTP only enabled on the ArcGIS servers, the auth is TOKEN, and we have the standard sslcertificate in place. Any ideas on why it's redirecting to login?

We have a clustered environment that all point to a file share. There is a shared folder on the file share that houses the config store. Also, in that folder there separate folders for mxds and data. We are trying to figure out if this causes any operational issues for the future to have one shared folder but separate folders for to the config store, separate for the mxds, and separate for the data.
