Cody, are you getting the column names like this? DataSourceProperties featureLayerDataSourceProps = new DataSourceProperties(@"C:\....gdb", "myFeatureLayer"); FeatureLayer featlayer = new FeatureLayer(featureLayerDataSourceProps); featlayer.Connect(); //Alias Names ReadOnlyCollection<string> columnAliasNames = featlayer.Table.Columns.GetColumnAliasNames(); //Names ReadOnlyCollection<string> columnNames = featlayer.Table.Columns.GetColumnNames(); I read your's and Dustin's post so did a quick check with the next version of Explorer. I am getting expected results. Couple of pointers though. I had a feature class as a published service in ArcGIS Server. Within ArcMap bringing in the layer directly from the database (not service) I could locally change the alias names and these persisted (saving map) when shutting ArcMap down and restarting. It did not have an effect on consuming it elsewhere directly from the GDB. Stopped the service, and within ArcCatalog changed the aliases, ok-ed them, and these were persisted within Explorer when I ran it after the changes. Dustin, right click the layer within Explorer and go to properties. You can specify the field name that corresponds to the Popup Title value. I had initially thought perhaps we had an error by reporting back the Field Name for both instances of Name and Alias, but that is not the case when I looked at the code. Hope the post helps. Edan

Malay, we don't have a specific tool within Explorer to do this. You would have to create an addin to do it. If you aren't a programmer you could use the Find tool to place your two locations on the map. Then using the Arrow Note tools draw from one point to the other. Edan

Sam, are you using the default map? Or have you loaded other contents to your map? Clicking on the perl at the top left should not cause an immediate crash, it simply opens a menu. Without knowing what you have in your map, do you have any other unexpected behavior prior to clicking the perl? You could try for a reset: backup this directory : C:\Users\username\Documents\ArcGIS Explorer, then delete your nmf file/s. When you start explorer, it will start in 2D with nothing other than the basemap. Then try clicking the perl. Let me know if you are still getting a crash. Sam I would be interested to know what kind of layer is causing the issue when you start adding them back one at a time. Thanks, Edan

Adam, wrong forum, you would get a faster reply posting to the ArcGIS Desktop thread rather than this one. However, have a look in the help for Classifying numerical fields for graduated symbology, I think from your description that this is what you want. All the best, Edan

Hi, When I geotag a photograph(JPG/JPEG), the .jgw and the .aux.xml files are not created sometimes. Due to which I'm unable to load the images again(through code). I'm getting the error, Unknown Coordinate System. Please help me out on this. Thanks in advance.. Regards, Yateesh Hi Yateesh, The geotagging code is writing EXIF metadata to the image itself, not providing you with a world file of sorts. The code should handle whatever coordinate system you are using within the app. The code provides for the conversion needed within the EXIF metadata. If you are attempting to geotag a non geotagged image and you get a Note with the image within the Popup, but if you delete the note and attempt to bring the image back into the app and its not placing it where you set it the previous time, then we have a bug. I've recently put a lot of work into this code for our next release. Image orientation, geotag the original image (don't make a geotagged copy), some bug fixes. If you could explain a little more as how to reproduce what you are seeing I would appreciate it as I have a small window to fix it if its not fixed already. Thanks, Edan

Jianhua, Michael's comment isn't going to help you much so let me help as I am the developer that wrote the GPS functionality. The port gets opened and is working correctly. What the code is not doing at 1750 is checking to see if the port still exists during operation. When a disconnect occurs it should initiate a stop of all of the asynchronous functionality, close the port and get back to a safe state. This would then enable you to plug the USB GPS back in and use it again. This is fixed for our next release and I appreciate the post you made. Hope that helps, Kind regards, Edan

Thanks for the response. Can anyone at Esri tell me if the SDK will change dramatically with the next release? Will the next release affect current customizations? Thanks! Jerry, we've made no changes to the SDK, all of your customizations will work as you have them now. Which also means that all of the new functionality is not available to you through the sdk. Kind regards, Edan Cain

Sveinung, currently there is a bug with the Find tool when using projected coordinates. If you put them in the order of Lon/lat you should find it works. We were also notified of this bug through Search and Rescue in New Zealand and I have fixed the issue and it will be in our next release. Sorry for any inconvenience, Edan

You could save a map to the extent that you want. When you reopen the map it will be set to this extent automatically for you. This works ok until you or someone saves the map again. To overcome this you could use the Application Configuration Manager and point the configuration to your map and remove the ability to save. Edan

lschuch4, the driver that Andriy posted is for a specific graphics card. You need to check what graphics card you have and search for that particular driver. The error message you are getting is because you don't have the graphics card that the driver pertains too. Edan
