Anyone know how to trim service area polygons from a network analysis in ArcPro? It seems to have a default setting of 100 meters and I don't see a way to change this. Unfortunately ArcMap keeps crashing due to the complexity of my network - otherwise it is simple to adjust this parameter there. I was able to get results after 13 hours in Pro, but saw that it trimmed my polygons too short. Any ideas?

Hi Jenora, Thank you so much! This is really helpful. I do want to look at a sequence of months and can certainly run the annual numbers to reduce the effect of wet/dry season variability. I'm curious, how did you run the water usage analysis with just August? I guess I could modify the dates so that they are sequential but actually representative of the dry months (for example, if I only wanted July and August, I could modify my data as july 2001, august 2001, september 2001 (really july 2002), october 2001 (really august 2002). Is that what you have seen before?

I guess another way to ask this question is, how do you deal with known high and low value patterns in a dataset? I know that there will be high values of fire during certain months and was hoping to compare just those months, but maybe there is another way to account for this. Has anyone else had to deal with known high/low value patterns in your datasets?

Hi all, Is it possible to create an emerging hot spot analysis for only certain months out of the year, for multiple years of data? Specifically, I would like to apply this tool to fire data and only look at dry seasons. I believe I can select a specific period of time using the "reference time" option with the Create Space Time Cube tool, but I think this can only be applied for one specific time period. And I think if I remove all wet season months they will still be counted as zeros. I would like to select 5 or 6 months out of the year for multiple years of data and have them all be compared in sequence - is this possible?

Hi All, I'm running into an error for the Create Space Time Cube tool. It says "File 'C:\Program Files (x86)|ArcGIS\Desktop10.5\ArcToolBox\Scripts\SSDataObject.py", line 535, in obtainDataGA self.master2Order[masterID] = row MemoryError." My point file is quite large - 23.3 million records and over 2gb, it is stored in a file geodatabase. Any ideas on how to get around this? I'm using the prerelease of v10.5.

Hi All - I am trying to create a Space Time Cube for use in the Emerging Hot Spot Analysis, but I am starting with raster data. I see that there is a Raster to NetCDF tool in ArcGIS - has anyone tried to use this to cut out the Raster to Point step? I don't see an obvious place to set bin size or sum data in the way that is needed for the Emerging Hot Spot tool. Has anyone else tried to do this? Have you had any luck?

I would like to create a custom print layout for my AGOL maps. It looks like I can create a service for a template and use that, but my organization does not have ArcGIS for Server. Anyone have experience customizing the print layout without ArcGIS for Server? Thank you!

Hi Kathy, Yes! You can embed a story map. You can read up about it and see examples here: http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2013/02/04/embedding-story-maps/

Has anyone had success adding a popup to a background layer in the story map tour template? Or is there an easy way to modify the template to do this? Also, has anyone used a custom pin? I would prefer a lettered pin so that the pins don't seem like a ranking. Thanks!

Hi Evan, Sorry I didn't use the right terminology for online maps - when I said base layers, I meant that I had some contextual layers that would not be the highlight of the map. I made a story map to highlight grant success stories, and wanted to have 5 different point layers for our 5 grant types as a background, contextual layer to be displayed along with the story map points. I used html and created a legend in illustrator that I then just stuck into the map's description. I understand wanting simplicity for the story map template, but legends are so incredibly important. I'm a little surprised that a legend isn't at least an option for this template.

It sounds like your links are corrupted, but just wanted to add that I've had luck creating a large and thumbnail version of my photos with the map tour. As taken from the map tour readme doc, the large photo should ideally be 1000x750 pixels, and the thumbnail should be 140x93. I just cropped my photos by using a 10x7.5/3x2 ratio and resized in photoshop. I think there is quite a bit of wiggle room for sizes, but this ensures your photos will look good on a variety of monitor sizes. Good luck!

Is there a way to customize the map tour template to include a legend? I have a few base layers and users wont be able to tell what they are without a legend... Also, popups don't work in this template. Anyone have any luck activating popups in the map tour template? Either or both of these features would make my map much more clear. Thanks in advance!

Hi Jay - Thank you for responding to my post. You are right, my polygon trim was set to 100 meters. Is there is typical trim distance that people use?

Hi All - I am trying to create service areas for a rural area. Blocks that are completely surrounded by a service area are filled in, while those that are not completely surrounded are left out of the service area (except for the search distance). Is this normal? Is there a setting that will prevent the blocks from being filled in? Or that will have them filled in if they are mostly covered by the service area? I want to make sure things aren't being over represented and also that the map is consistent. Thanks in advance for your help!
