We have table with data as shown in the screen capture below: Is there way we can use 'field calculator' to populate the values in Degrees and Minutes? I came across following article however this cannot be used with 10.3: 31243 - Convert Decimal Degree values to Degree Minute Seconds values using the Field Calculator Other way would be to use following tool: ArcGIS Help 10.1 However this will require creating new feature class and then performing further actions to get the data in required format and in required table (original table). Anyways who knows how to accomplish this using filed calculator?

Hi Nishi, Thank you for the response. Here answers to your questions: 1. Are you using Database Authentication or using User Properties and "Each User will connect with their own database login" option. - Database authentication 2. Were you able to connect to Workflow Manager Client application on your machine where you did all the setup? - Yes, I could without any issues. 3. On the Client machine, are you logged in with your Windows user account and connecting to the Workflow Manager Client or one of the users you added to the Technicians group are logged in Windows and connecting to the Workflow Manager Client? - Yes, one of the users you added to the Technicians group are logged in on Windows and then try to connect to the Workflow Manager Client. I tried the method of sharing .jtc file. It did create a database connection and set it to default. However after this when I tried to launch 'Workflow manager' I received following error: One more question, based on your statement below: Since Workflow Manager authenticates users based on their Windows login, the user logged in Windows is the one logging to Workflow Manager Client application. This could well be the problem in our case. Our database is hosted on different domain and we use different domain to log on to our personal machines. We use SQL Authentication for all the connections to database from ArcCatalog. So in this scenario there is no way we can implement Workflow manager? Please note that even in this scenario I could Open 'Workflow manager client' without any issues, this could be because of the fact that my Windows login was somehow got registered with WFM. Thank you!

Hi All, I am trying to setup a workflow manager environment in our office for better work management. I am stuck at a point of deploying Workflow manager on client machine. Below are the steps I have followed along with the description of the issue I am facing: Configuration: ArcGIS Desktop 10.3 ArcGIS Workflow Manager 10.3 SQL Server 2012 1. Created 2 geodatabases on SQL Server instance - both DBO schema, one holds the data (PROD_DB) while the other one holds the workflow manager repository tables (WFM_PROD_DB) 2. Ran Workflow manager post-installation with 'Quick Configuration' on WFM_PROD_DB 3. Created new workflow, created new job, associated job with the workflow, added map document and workspace to the job. 3. Created 2 SQL authenticated logins on the SQL Server instance and mapped them with the geodatabases above 4. Granted them SELECT on both the geodatabases and granted dataset level permissions from ArcCatalog on the data in PROD_DB so that they can edit the data 5. Created 2 users in workflow manager corresponding to above two database users and assigned them 'Technicians' group. Everything went fine till this point. Problem occurred upon trying to deploy this on client machine, 6. Installed ArcGIS Desktop 10.3 and ArcGIS Workflow Manager 10.3 on 2 machines 7. Tried opening 'Workflow Manager' received following error: which was expected as I had not configured a database connection yet. 8. So, followed steps mentioned in following link to configure the connection: http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/desktop/latest/guide-books/extensions/workflow-manager/adding-wmx-database-administrator.htm At this step, first part of 'Add Workflow Manager connection' goes through without any errors. Second part, 'Workspace properties' also goes through without any errors. Here in connection properties, credentials of above mentioned database users were provided. After this when tried connecting to the new Workflow Manager Database node that was created, I received following error: Here is what I have tried or checked: 1. Granted SELECT, INSERT,UPDATE,DELETE explicitly on the tables in the error message to these users - Did not help 2. Granted SELECT, INSERT,UPDATE,DELETE on WFM database (WFM_PROD_DB) to these users - Did not help 3. In SQL Server ran queries against the tables in error message by connecting as problematic users and the queries returned results. 4. Created connection to WFM database (WFM_PROD_DB) from ArcCatalog with above mentioned users and checked if they can view the tables in the error message and they could. I am not sure if I am missing something or doing something incorrectly. Any help would be much appreciated.

In addition to what Christian said, 1. Do the tables (non-spatial) get imported with data (rows)? 2. Is this specific to spatial tables only? 3. Which storage type is being used in source database? (ST_GEOMETRY or SDO_GEOMETRY or SDEBINARY)

Thank you for the clarification! My intention was not to go into the technical details of it however all I was trying to say was with respect to John Baleja's comment: "I've been following this thread and first I want to make clear that all of the ArcSDE command line tools are available up through the ArcGIS 10.2.2 release. We have done a lot of work at 10.3 to fill gaps, but spatial views is an area where we still have work to do. I will post back to this thread as I have more information regarding our plans regarding spatial views." I just wish ESRI comes up with something as easy as steps I mentioned above so the prompts for UID and Spatial extent would just go away and the 'views' will work as smoothly as they used to when created using 'sdetable -o create_view'. This is something users are eagerly waiting for and it would be great if ESRI clarifies their stance on this. Is this something ESRI is working upon? Or adding them as query layer or drag/drop and then specify UID (assuming spatial reference is already defined) is the process they would like users to adopt? Or as Joshua Bixby says order your fields such a way that the desired field would be considered by ArcGIS as UID? I hope I am clear this time, sorry for the confusion earlier.

Disconnecting all users and then running compress may work. However the compress should work even when users are connected to the geodatabase. (partial compress) It would be worth trying/checking following: 1. Try compress using ArcSDE command - 'sdeversion -o compress' (using version 10 dlls) or try compress from Desktop 10. 2. If you do not have latest service pack for 10 already applied (SP 5) on both SDE and Desktop, apply the same and try the compress from 10.1 if it works OK otherwise compress again using any of the methods in 1 above. Was it the first time that you were running compress from 10.1 desktop? If answer is yes, above method may help us to determine if compress from 10.1 is causing the deadlock resulting in failure of compress. Good read about deadlocks: Detecting and Ending Deadlocks Thank you!

I agree with Joshua Bixby here, fixing NIM085661 may not address the exact issue being discussed here. I am not sure why isn't ESRI coming up with an alternative to 'sdetable -o create_view?. At 10.1, I remember there was a way to register table or spatial table created from backend (using SQL or DBMS tools) with geodatabase from ArcCatalog. You just had to right click on the table - regster with geodatabase - specify unique identifier - shape field - spatial reference. Is it too much complicated to incorporate similar method for 'views'? Or may be provide an option of registering view with geodatabase during its creation itself? Does ESRI have an acceptable clarification on why they have not came up with an alternative for this commond? Or will this be served with ArcGIS 11?

This is exactly what I was looking for. However I do not know how this script can be implemented in ArcGIS. My python knowledge is restricted to exporting model into a python and then working on it. Has anyone tried this? Or can someone assist me in implementing this script?

Hi All, We needed suggestions or inputs on a workflow our client would like to implement. Here is the situation: Our client has a parcel layer which is edited ( attributes of existing parcels are updated or new parcels are added or existing parcels are deleted) on a daily basis. They have another system (mainframe) where they need to enter\upload this updated information once the editing is finished. For this, at the end of the day they would like to find out\extract ONLY the parcels which were updated\added\deleted on that particular day from the entire parcel feature class. Once they get this data they will pass it on to other team who will be responsible for updating their mainframe with this information. They are working with SQL Server 2012 ArcGIS 10.3 , geodatabase is also at 10.3 Data is registered as versioned Archiving is enabled Editor tracking is enabled They are looking for a dynamic method of generating this information on a daily basis. Any ideas or inputs for this would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Done! Just sent the feedback to the doc. team. Also, can you check this and see if you observe the same thing or is it just me? I just typed 'arcgis 10.3 help' in Google to see if it takes me to 10.3 web help however it took me to web help of previous versions (10.2,10.2.2).

Thank you very much George! This is exactly what I was looking for. The help pages seem to have relocated ( or reorganized) and designed. Would take a few days to get used to this however it looks good, I am not sure why Google search still fails to point to these 10.3 pages. It still takes us to web help of previous versions. May be ESRI is still working on giving it a final touch. If that isn't the case please let the ESRI documentation team know that search engines are not able to search 10.3 help yet. May be they will expose it so that engines can reach out to 10.3....

Has there been an official word from ESRI regarding making 10.3 web help available for all users? The toll dialogue boxex and the help content differ with each other which may lead to confusion for some of the users.

This could be the case of client and database incompatibility. It would be worth a try to import this XML into 9.3 file geodatabase first. If it imports successfully then create a new XML from 9.3 geodatabase and then import that into 10.2 file geodatabase. ( you can also copy-paste the data from 9.3 geodatabase to 10.2 geodatabase) You can create 9.3 file geodatabase using Create Filegeodatabase tool: ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) Hope this helps!

This could well be the case of file geodatabase corruption. File geodatabase has numerous files associated with it which are responsible for smooth functioning of file geodatabase and its contents using ArcGIS. There could be many factors responsible for file geodatabase corruption, any third party program or function (including windows tools/programs) accessing the file geodatabase contents (files which are stored on the system upon creation of file geodatabase or its contents) in any possible manner may lead to corruption of file geodatabase. It is always better to store file geodatabase/s in separate folder and then use folder to transfer file geodatabase from one machine to other or even at a different location on the same machine. Any operation should be carried out on a parent folder instead of File geodatabase/s directly (unless using ArcGIS) to minimize or avoid the chances of data corruption.

Well, it would be a good idea to try and isolate this issue. I would suggest trying this on 9.3 File geodatabase and observing the results. You can use create file geodatabase tool to create 9.3 geodatabase ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) You can copy your address locator to this geodatabase or create new address locator in this geodatabase (using small sample of data) and then testing the behavior. The results would help to isolate this issue being locator engine specific (Desktop issue) or SDE specific (geodatabase issue). Based on the results of testing above we all can take this issue further. Hope this makes sense!
