Lucas or Eric, I'll soon be going through the migration process of re-hosting software from v10.2.6 to v100 to take advantage of its new features. In doing so I have a couple of questions: Can v100 be installed side-by-side with v10.2.6 on the same machine (Linux)? I'm considering upgrading to Qt 5.9 LTS. Will v100 work with the recently released Qt 5.9 LTS? Eric mentioned that a new 'migration' topic would available sometime at the end of January. Is this available, and if so, where would I find it? Thanks! -Rainer

An application I've been developing in RHEL was running fine in RHEL 7.0 and 7.1. I've recently updated to RHEL 7.2 which upgraded the default kernel as well. I noticed that the application was now running noticeably slower. I then reverted to an older kernel and the application ran fine. I've been in contact with Red Hat and have sent them SOS reports, traces (ltrace and strace) and perf reports. They've identified 'libEsriRuntimeQt.so' as the potential cause of the slowdown. The application runs fine on the following "229" kernels: kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-229.11.1.el7 kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-229.14.1.el7 kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-229.20.1.el7 And runs noticeably slower on the newer "327" kernels: kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-327.el7 kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-327.3.1.el7 kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-327.4.4.el7 kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-327.4.5.el7 Anyone have any ideas on why 'libEsriRuntimeQt.so' runs slower on the new kernels? Thanks!

Justin, I'm having a hard time signing in from either ArcMap 10.3.1 or ArcCatalog 10.3.1. I get the following: I downloaded Fiddler and ran it. Can I send you the .saz file? It would be a great help to me. Thanks!!

Thanks Luke, I guess I was getting all turned around on this - still learning. I was looking at Local Server geoprocessing tools support—ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Qt | ArcGIS for Developers and now it makes more sense that you've explained it. -Rainer

Hi Luke, I appreciate the detailed response - I've got my work cut out for me. Can I safely assume that this done using the Spatial Analyst extension for Runtime, and that we would need to purchase a license pack for deployment? Is there a way of identifying in the API what belongs to Spatial Analyst? Thanks! -Rainer

Thanks Luke, Which ever way I go: (1) Feature table (now), (2) new package type (Quartz), or (3) direct from raster (I have a .tif file)(Quartz) - how do I best go about computing the mean and standard deviation of the depths within a buffer region with ArcGIS Runtime? Sorry if this is a newbie question. Thanks. -Rainer

Thanks Luke, Let me dig a bit deeper. If I wanted to compute the mean and standard deviation of the depths within a circular buffer placed on the map, would this future (Quartz-compatible) package allow for this? Or would I be better served using something else - like creating a feature table of gridded depths from the base map raster using ArcMap, and then using a buffer in ArcGIS Runtime to compute the mean and standard deviation of the depth features lying within the circular buffer? Thanks. -Rainer

Will I be able to render something (not a .tpk file) from the .mxd file in ArcGIS Desktop that I could then use in Quartz for searching the base map?

I have a bathymetry map that is a map of ocean depths - the deeper the blue the deeper the ocean. The map is provided as a .mxd file. I can open this file in ArcGIS Desktop and I'm able to click on it using the Identify cursor to query for depth at the clicked location. Next I rendered this map into a '.tpk' file that I open using ArcGISLocalTiledLayer in ArcGIS Runtime. So my question is: can I get depth information in ArcGIS Runtime from the base map like was I able to get in ArcGIS Desktop? One idea I've heard is to create a feature table in ArcGIS Desktop containing depth information and using that for depth information in ArcGIS Runtime; but I was curious if there is a way to get it directly from the base map - either in this release (10.2.6) or in a future release (Quartz). Thanks!

Thomas, Thanks. Here's a related question. Is it possible to change the color of a symbol based on a graphic's attribute given that a SimpleRenderer is used? Using sample code from ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Qt QML API: SimpleRenderer Class Reference (below), is it possible to use JS for the 'color:' binding to select color based on a graphic's attribute, or do I need to use a ClassBreakRender? GraphicsLayer { id: graphicsLayer renderer: simple } SimpleRenderer { id: simple symbol: SimpleFillSymbol { style: Enums.SimpleFillSymbolStyleForwardDiagonal color: "#9050d5" outline: SimpleLineSymbol { color: "darkgrey" width: 1 } } }

Thomas, That's a good question. If the text is static, then I would need a good number of ClassBreakInfo components - one for each unique text case!? If the text is set as an attribute then that would reduce the number of ClassBreakInfo components that I would need. Once the text is set for the graphic, it won't change for the life of the graphic. So my answer is: it depends. I would be interested in hearing both solutions (if they exist) for the static and dynamic case. Thanks. -Rainer

I would like to render a circular graphic symbol, but with text inside the circle. For a simple example, I have the following class break example where I would like to set text inside the circle: ClassBreakInfo { minimum: 11.9 maximum: 12.1 symbol: SimpleMarkerSymbol { color: "limegreen" size: 2 } } Is there a way to add text to a SimpleMarkerSymbol. I see there isn't a property for text. Is there a way to composite SimpleMarkerSymbol and TextSymbol that I can bind to 'symbol:' ? Thanks.

Like, I was revisiting this the other day and tried changing geometry from 'Polyline' to 'Line' - this failed. So I cut it down to simply put a line graphic with fixed coordinates, using the 'Line' geometry in place of the 'Polyline' geometry. What am I doing wrong? When I changed the geometry to be a 'Point' and changed the symbol to be 'SimpleMarkerSymbol', all is good. As an aside, how can I paste in code blocks like you have done in your responses? I tried the advanced editor features and didn't see anything. Thanks! -Rainer Here's the code: GraphicsLayer { id: root . . . Graphic { id: lineGraphic geometry: Line { id: line startXY: Point { x: 13379537 y: 1543463 } endXY: Point { x: 13380537 y: 1548463 } spatialReference: SpatialReference { wkid: 102100 } } symbol: SimpleLineSymbol { color: "red" width: 2 style: Enums.SimpleLineSymbolStyleDash } } }
