I gave that a shot, but no luck. Good idea though, so thanks.

Hello all. Per the subject, I'm getting errors when running the NEAREST_FEATURE and the NEAREST_FEATURE_ATTRIBUTES methods. The exact error message is "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." What I'm trying to do is to pull attributes off the street centerline into a new address point. And what's interesting is there are 3 of us pulling from this same DynamicValue table, and the other 2 machines work properly; it is only mine that has this issue. So, the exact log entries: ------------------------------------------------ Row Info Row Number 11 TableName: AddressPoint FieldName: ValueInfo: RoadCenterline|ROADPREDIR,ROADNAME,ROADTYPE|ROADPREDIR,ROADNAME,ROADTYPE|350 ValueMethod: NEAREST_FEATURE_ATTRIBUTES On Create: 1 On Change: 0 Checking for Subtype Restriction Field is not specified, empty, or set for all. Trying NEAREST_FEATURE_ATTRIBUTES Looking for layer: RoadCenterline RoadCenterline layer Found: RoadCenterline Checking Field Mapping Field Mapping verified Searching for Nearest Feature ERROR: NEAREST_FEATURE_ATTRIBUTES Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I understand that the Coalesce function may not be "supported" per se, but isn't it odd that it works "On Create", but not on "Manual Only"? I was hoping maybe someone had some insight into that. I think I'll do some research into the msscriptcontrol to see if I can figure anything out. Thanks for the feedback Mike.

I have an Expression method: LTRIM(COALESCE([ADDRNUM], "") + " " + COALESCE([ROADPREDIR],"") + " " + COALESCE([ROADNAME],"") + " " + COALESCE([ROADTYPE],"") + " " + COALESCE([UNIT],"")) It runs just fine on "create", although it does throw an error in the log: Expression to be eval: LTRIM(COALESCE("4288", "") + " " + COALESCE("","") + " " + COALESCE("NEWBERRY","") + " " + COALESCE("RD","") + " " + COALESCE("","")) Type mismatch: 'COALESCE' However, the destination field DOES contain the correct data. However, the same expression: LTRIM(COALESCE([ADDRNUM], "") + " " + COALESCE([ROADPREDIR],"") + " " + COALESCE([ROADNAME],"") + " " + COALESCE([ROADTYPE],"") + " " + COALESCE([UNIT],"")) when run "manually" does NOT update the value when one of the fields (say ADDRNUM) is changed. It fails with the same error: Expression to be eval: LTRIM(COALESCE("4270", "") + " " + COALESCE("","") + " " + COALESCE("NEWBERRY","") + " " + COALESCE("RD","") + " " + COALESCE("","")) ERROR: evaluating the expression for feature in Address Points with OID of 162532 Type mismatch: 'COALESCE' These are from the same edit. I changed the ADDRNUM from 4288 to 4270, and that change was recognized in the second expression, but nothing was done to the destination field. I hope this is understandable. Thanks.

Thank you Mike. We are using the Address Editing, but I hadn't looked at the Water Utility map yet. Thanks much for the info.

I have had pretty good luck using the AA to automate some of our tasks. However, I am sure I'm using a small portion of the functionality that is available, simply because some of the methods are a black box to me. E.g., X_Coordinate. Reading through the documentation it says you need to provide the "feature location", but I have no idea what that means from the standpoint of what the function is looking for. Is there any place that there is a set of examples that showcase how these functions are used?

You could use the AA to fill out details from other layers, then export the select features to excel and then run a mail merge from there? That is just guessing without knowing more details. I guess the most fundamental question is if there is any mechanism either built into AA, or some other way, to call a script or function once AA has finished it's thing. What I'm trying to accomplish is to analyze where a point falls within agency boundaries, extract the appropriate agency, look up in a secondary table the email addresses of the people associated with that agency, and then fire off the email to them from an external program. So if my point falls in the City, I contact one group of people, and if it falls in the County, a different group.

I am very impressed with what you can do with the AA. It seems like there is a lot of power in this module. I'm thinking of trying to utilize it in a somewhat more expansive role. We send out emails to other municipalities and utilities based on where in the county an event occurs. I'd like to try to build something that will extract the location, and thereby the jurisdiction of a point, and thereby send out emails to only the pertinent parties. Has anyone built anything along these lines? I'm not looking for an exact solution, but rather ideas. Thanks

I'm having some issues with the Attribute Assistant, so I want to log what is going on, but I'm not getting any dialog to say where to put the file, and no log appears to be being created. In my Default.config I have the debug key turned on. <add key="AttributeAssistant_Debug" value="True" /> Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.

It looks like I missed a method named "SIDE". It appears that will do it. Except that I cannot get it to work... In ValueInfo I put RoadCenterline|SEGMENTID|ADDRESSID. SEGMENTID being the key for the centerline features, and ADDRESSID being the key for the Address features

The ADM addin must be able to decide if you are assigning a point on the Left or Right side of the road, as it seems to always come up with the correct choice of Odd or Even. Is that value accessible somehow? We have an attribute specifically for that which we would like to have updated automatically, as well as be able to ascertain MSAGLEFT or MSAGRIGHT. Thanks.

I have gotten the Address Data Management addin working for the most part. But i would like to be able to override the address as calculated by the tool. In our db table there are 2 fields FULLADDR and ADDRNUM. What I'd like is for the user to be able to change the ADDRNUM value and have it cascade over to the complete address field - FULLADDR. I looked at FIELD_TRIGGER, but it looks like it's looking for a specific value in a field to trigger it. What I need is ANY value being entered into the ADDRNUM to trigger the update. Is this possible with FIELD_TRIGGER? Or possibly some other method? Thanks!

I'm looking for information or tutorials on how to customize the attribute information that is extracted and input into an Address layer. It appears that currently you can get road center-line data, but I would like to be able to add Parcel info, MSAG community, City, Zip code, etc. automatically. From the workings of the application, it would seem this is possible, but I cannot find anywhere that there is an example of this type of customization. Could anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks
