After installing new license from my college, I had this problem. Tried all fixes above (though didn't reinstall yet). But, from this thread, found if I turned off Ineternet connection to keep it from checking online for license (?), it started right away! ArcMap gets stuck 'Initializing licences' : gis It doesn't make sense that I'd need to be connected to our school's server. Same license works on my other computer. But, anyway, this seems to have fixed the problem though not ideal solution..

Hi: I created a number of bar graphs from Excel and customized the color and pattern for each bar. I copied each graph then pasted into my Arc 10 Layout. The colors looked fine there. When I printed to PDF, though, the bars all came out as solid white, though all the other information and background colors were correct. I've fiddled with several different setting on the Print PDF menu, but nothing's working. See attached screen shots. Ideas? Many thanks. George

Hi: I'm on a learning curve with Survey123 -- both browser (which I've had no trouble with) and desktop connect. Following one of the videos, I've tried to filter one question dependent on a previous binary choice. Whatever I do, I get an error after saving it. Attached are two screen shots. One of the error, the other how I wrote the expression. I've tried on two machines -- one running Excel 2016 and the other 2010. Is there a security setting I'm missing not allowing it to run? What have I missed? Many thanks for helping! George

Many thanks for the suggestion. I ended up doing a clean install, then synching with my google account. Everything worked fine. I reinstalled the minimum number of Extensions I use as well as plug-ins, testing after each install. So far, so good. Previously, I'd tried just installing a new version over the old one (same version) but that didn't work. Anyway, it was obviously just a glitch with two of my synched copies on two machine and one other person but no other reports. If it reappears I'll follow up with those last two suggestions. Thanks again! George

Also v. 56.x. I've cleaned browser cache with no luck. Run Dev Tools but will now have to read what it means. Got a return showing code with red lines through it. I'll try fiddler2 and compare not loading to successful load with Incognito. I'll also put a clean install of Chrome on a VM machine to see if that makes a difference. Not sure what I'm doing, but Dev Tools shows it hanging at line 64 with these warnings: Synchronous XMLHttpRequest on the main thread is deprecated because of its detrimental effects to the end user's experience. Which is just to say whatever's happening is limited, so I'm less concerned (though no less confused...). Thanks all for suggestions so far! g.

Chris: When I enter that URL, the word GeoForm comes up on the tab but the bars keep looping, with no page loading. I just tried turning off all extensions thinking it was my browser (though another person had the same problem). It still hangs. Same with trying from Configure App. And, as just noted, works fine in Incognito. Mystery deepens. I'll ask a few more friends to try Chrome and see what happens. Thanks! George

Hi: I've built a geoform and have been unable to get it to load in Chrome. It loads fine in IE and Firefox. Also, on the Details page for the App, it won't load to Configure App though, again, gets there fine from Firefox. I've tried to add https to the address but still not successful. I've tried on two computers and a tester was also having the same problem. I've also turned on and off the https requirement in security for my account. Ideas? Here's the draft of my geoform: http://arcg.is/2ldDcjn UPDATE: just tried it in Chrome's Incognito browser and it loads fine. I'll fiddle with add ins and see if there's something there but if anyone's got ideas, I'd appreciate them! Thanks, George

Hi: I've got a single user AGOL account -- no sub groups or other members. I've designed a geoform that will be posted publicly to be filled in by anyone. I'm kinda lost in how to assign permissions. I want the public to be able to establish a point and fill out the popup form. I do not want the public to be able to see the information filled out on any other form by clicking on it but I do want the public to see all points established. In edit mode, it looks like anyone can click on a point and the form pops up with the information of anyone. I've tried various combinations of permissions; disabling popups; disabling all the fields visible... with no luck. How do I set the permissions or manage popups such that only I, as Admin, can see the form information but not the public.? App is here: ArcGIS Web Application Thanks! George

Try this again (wrong section before...): I work in Search and Rescue and recently was involved in a SAR involving two agencies separated by 100 miles. Although we couldn't use it at the time, I've since been put together an AGOL web app such that we can share a common operating picture in the future. Because of the dynamic nature of information, clues and investigation needs, I thought it useful to be able to add a Chat function such that notes and comments can be posted in readiness for scheduled conference calls and for exchange of names, phone numbers etc. during those calls. I see where this is possible using the operations dashboard, but wonder if it's possible to insert a line of, say, javascript to invoke one of the free chat apps into an existing AGOL web app? Or is there some other solution? I could embed the web app into a web page, then insert the code into the HTML, but it would be nice to have it as integral to the web app. Many thanks for any ideas or solutions. George

Hi. I just found this thread and can confirm that, without a ESRI account (free or paid) I'm not getting a basemap selection. It's no problem for me in that I just sign in with my account. I was helping a friend through the same problem and, even with a new account, he's not getting Basemaps. Likely to do with being behind a firewall. Another solution is to go to the ArcGIS Server: In ArcGIS Explorer, go to Add Content ==> Choose GIS Services ==> Server Type stays as ArcGIS Server ==> in the server box, paste in http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/services; don't worry about username or password ==> Next. Choose your map from the list then Add Service. That choice will now always appear when you Choose GIS Services. Just Highlight it under Select a Service and click Next. Also, you get more map choices with a direct connection to their map server.

Hi: I'm putting together a fire map book and Plans maps for our local community fire district. It's just one station and a fairly small response area. I've downloaded both the Fire Run Book & Fire Station Wall Map templates. I've also atteneded a couple of sessions at the UC and watched the instructional videos. Alas, I'm missing how to actually get my data into the GDB as well as create my own grid index for our station's response area. For the latter, I can use one of the two Grid Index tools but wonder if there's something built into the Fire Map Book template. Also, how do I semi-easily get my data (which isn't much: streets, parcels, hydrants, response boundary) into the GDB so the scripts run in both DDP and Street Index. I assume they're looking for specific fields to run correctly?? Thanks for any help anyone can give. George
