Janne, Did you ever find a way to use Chef as an automation tool? I'm looking at the same issue. Upgrading to 10.8.1 and am interested in switching from the manual method to an automated one. Thanks. DG

Same as you I'm just starting to learn about this technology. So the data is stored as JSON objects? I think the graph database employs a concept of nodes and edges, meaningless to me right now, and I see in the 'elasticsearch' sub-folder of the Data Store server configuration folder there are sub folders named 'node', so maybe a term commonly used in NoSQL deployments. I created a spatiotemporal data store recently and there is now a Windows service named 'java' that is consuming nearly 8GB of RAM. Is the strategy to keep the entire spatiotemporal DB in RAM with a backup to disk?

How about adding the means to search portal/agol items and the data they reference based on a spatial extent? Either by entering the coordinates for a box or via a map interface where a user can draw a box or polygon and portal items that either cross or are fully within are listed. This would be be particularly useful for when you have many feature classes and images that overlap the same area of interest. Seems basic. Surprised it is not currently provided.

When adding individual ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabase mosaic dataset images to an ArcGIS Pro map provide the means to designate a mosaic dataset attribute field value to be the name of the resulting ArcGIS Pro layer. Currently, the layer name becomes the fully qualified database name using the pattern "sde.schemaName.mosaicDatasetName:OBJECTID". Lots or work required to then manually modify the layer name when often the actual image name would suffice. It would be very convenient to be able to use an attribute value already defined in the mosaic dataset image.

I'm working with a Geodatabase in SQL Server Express (ESSRI Workgroup License). Near as I can tell the only security option is Windows Authentication and utilizing the "DBO" deployment of the Geodatabase. I'm finding that only the database owner or members of the server role 'sysadmin' can create new content, such as a feature class, that will be of the schema "DBO". For other users associated with the geodatabase, to be able to create content their default schema has to be defined as the same name as their user ID and they have to been assigned to the Geodatabase role "ESRIAdmin". That is, for user <DOMAIN>/<USERNAME> their default schema has to be set to <DOMAIN>/<USERNAME>. When that user creates a new feature class the resulting name appears as follows: <DATABASE NAME>."<DOMAIN>/<USERNAME>".<FEATURE CLASS NAME> . We periodically run an automated process via Windows Task Scheduler that temporarily renames a feature class and then rebuilds it. If the rebuild fails, the feature class name is renamed back to the original name. When the task runs under a user account that is not the database owner and is not a member of the server role 'sysadmin' and the target feature class is schema "DBO" then the rename fails and a new feature class cannot be created. For both actions the error is something to the effect of "the default schema does not match the user schema". However, if the account is added to the server role 'sysadmin' then that account can create/rename the feature class in schema "DBO". The task is also successful if the default schema for the account is set to <DOMAIN>/<USERNAME> . The goal is to maintain the feature class in the "DBO" schema. We would rather not have task user account be a member of 'sysadmin". And we would rather that all objects in the Geodatabase be of the "DBO" schema. And we would rather not have the account running the automated process be the database owner. Is it possible to set database privileges for a user account such that a feature class can be created/renamed in the "DBO" schema without having to be a member of the server role 'sysadmin"? I'm guessing it is since 'sysadmin' membership produces the desired result. I just can't work out the combination of required privileges. Being a member of the database role "ESRIAdmin" is not enough privilege to create new content unless the default schema for the account is set to <DOMAIN>/<USERNAME> or if <DOMAIN>/<USERNAME> is a member of the server role sysadmin. Using T-SQL I have used run GRANT ALTER, GRANT CREATE TABLE, GRANT ALTER ANY SCHEMA, GRANT CREATE SCHEMA. None of those have solved this. Any help much appreciated.

I've hit the same problem. Did ESRI provide any docs on how to recover? I can't even get to the admin section. It's a federated AGS and neither the AGS admin account nor a portal account will authorize. PIA!!

That process works but you may also have to return to the federated server and reset the AGS authentication to "GIS_Server" .

I'm running Cloud Builder 10.5.1 for Azure. I successfully created an ArcGIS Enterprise deployment. However, the GIS Server deployment always fails. The AGS VM is successfully created but the script fails at the point of accessing the Azure Database. Doesn't matter if I have pre-built the Azure database or have the Cloud Builder script build the database. The error message is "Unable to connect to Server '<Server_Name>.database.windows.net' using UserID:- <db_account_name>" where <db_account_name> is the database admin account name and <Server_Name> is the Azure SQL Server. I can access the server/database with SQL Server Studio Manager using the same account name. Anyone got a solution?

Tried that. No joy. Seems like 10.5.1 Portal Scene viewer only works with federated AGS services or only 10.5.1 non-federated AGS. 10.4.1 non-federated AGS services just don't work.

I'm not able to render ArcGIS Server 10.4.1 map services in ArcGIS Portal 10.5.1 Scene viewer. Google Chrome Developer tool displays this error: Failed to load https://<DOMAIN_NAME>/arcgis/rest/info?f=json: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource. Origin 'https://<DOMAIN_NAME>' is therefore not allowed access. The response had HTTP status code 401. <DOMAIN_NAME> is a actual value in the error. This is a CORS related issue. I have added "Access-Control-Allow-Origin" with value "*" in IIS for both the Portal and ArcGIS Server instances but no joy. The ArcGIS Server 10.4.1 instance will soon be upgraded to 10.5.1. What I really need to know is if this is a known issue and will the upgrade to 10.5.1 eliminate the problem. DG
